Qualifications…

What makes someone a “qualified” professional cuddler…? I see new “professional” cuddlers pop up who have no karmas and some are charging $150-200/hr and they don’t even host.

I’m a newbie and I’m actually looking for a professional cuddler but I don’t even know what I should be looking for besides their reviews when I visit their profiles. If I’m paying good money, how do I ensure that I have a good experience? If the coventional wisdom is “you get what you paid for”, then what is the difference between someone who charges $65/hr and someone who charges $200/hr?

Thanks in advance.

Pros can charge anything they want. So if you see a pro with no karma, you will be taking a chance, yes, but I guess that’s the risk.
If you are worried about that I would stick to pros that have karma and within a reasonable budget range for you. ☺️

    @MrRanger
Just stick to hiring someone who has multiple positive reviews. You can modify your search to eliminate those who haven't been online in a week, month , year and set a max price weeding out anyone who surpasses your budget.

  • I think if you let the pros you contact know that you’re a bit nervous and hoping to find a pro you can click with, you’ll find a pro that is willing to chat with you for a bit and maybe meet you in public to make sure you guys have a connection.

  • Thank you for the comments. I understand what I can do to lessen the “risk” with regards to money. I’m willing to pay the premium if it’s worth it, like if the experience included…oh IDK…some hospitality amenities or food or beverages, etc. LOL. I just want the pros perspective when determining their rates…are they offering something others aren’t offering? I guess the easiest thing is to just ask them but I don’t want to offend anyone.

  • Professionals' prices are, from the clients' perspective, essentially random. That is to say, there is no general correlation between price and anything. Each professional sets the rate that works for them.

Most professionals have other sources of income other than cuddling. Some want to do as much cuddling as possible, for others it's an occasional thing. Both use rate as a way of controlling the frequency of sessions. This is all entirely right and proper, but it can give rise to a certain amount of confusion in new clients.

For you, I would suggest a maximum rate you are comfortable with, and then forget about it. Conventional wisdom that you get what you pay for does not apply to cuddling. IF there is any connection between price and quality, anecdotal evidence is clear that it is inverse. The lower the rate, the better the experience.

There is no infallible way of choosing a professional, and that's even before you get to the question of will you click when you meet. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that the risks to a new client are slightly reduced by the following characteristics. In no particular order they are: lots of Karma; well written profile of at least three paragraphs; thoughtful photo set; mid-twenties or older; completion of a cuddling training course; background in a caring profession; login within the last week (and every week); long time on the site; good responses to your questions; and good posts on the forum. Obviously there are numerous exceptions to all of these, it's the pattern you are looking for. (I know one lovely and amazing professional whose pre-session communication is, by her own admission, atrocious.)

what is the difference between someone who charges $65/hr and someone who charges $200/hr?

From your perspective, nothing. But (money aside) hire the 65 one. There is a very slight chance it will be a better experience.

  • @CuddleDuncan, thank you so much for your clear and concise explanation, which I’m assuming is based entirely on your experiences. Everything you said makes perfect sense. Your suggestions for decision making criteria are especially helpful if the hourly rates are completely arbitrary. I really appreciate your insights.

@MrRanger thank you, happy to help!

your clear and concise explanation, which I’m assuming is based entirely on your experiences

It isn't, actually. Well partly, of course. But it's also based on the experiences of other clients, both reported on the forum and to me directly, and numerous conversations with professionals. I know a number of professionals very well (both in person and from the site in general) and discuss the profession with them at length: some ask me for advice. I also follow the doings of professionals in my area that I haven't met. Sometimes with converations, sometimes just by watching their Karma and profile evolve.

You may find this thread helpful. It isn't finished, one of these days I'll get back to it.

Start with my big post of September 2021 and work towards the present. (Just ignore the earlier stuff.)
