Broken Heart

Can cuddling cure a broken heart 💔?

Comments

  • No. But it might ease your misery some. Just like money doesn't buy happiness, but it can make you comfortable in your misery.

  • It sure will put a bandaid over it 🩹 💔 ❤️‍🩹

Really sorry to hear …. Hope you find comfort & healing here 🌌

  • No, but it can certainly be comforting.

  • No. And if you are not emotionally able to deal with your loss , it can actually make things worse

  • For me, the best cure for a broken heart is coming to a place where I can see that person for who they truly are, not who I idealized them to be. Then I can fall out of love with them.

Cuddling can open the door for your eventual healing along with meditation and therapy. Best wishes

  • There are so many things that cause heartbreak and so many things we secretly do that maintain it. Grief is an example- in some way we believe that we must suffer in proportion to how much we loved that person. We do these weird little mathematics that we hide from ourselves with bizarre little ledgers that have to be balanced or become boring before we move on.

Or maybe it’s anger- anger at that other person and ourselves for allowing them to hurt us. For falling for it again and daring to hope for something that we secretly know can never happen because we don’t actually believe it’s possible- probably because we have this secret suspicion that we aren’t really worthy of it.

The only person that truly heals your hurts is you, although others can certainly help.

Forgiving yourself is always an important step no matter the type of hurt. Take breaks to distract yourself from it sure- but spending time with it in a loving and thoughtful way and with the goal of forgiving yourself is one of the best ways to make it better.

  • I’m sorry but it doesn’t. It can help sooth some of the pain as being in someone presents can remind Sf that we’re not alone.

  • Not sure, but I know it can make a feller feel like a cared for lil' weebus boy.

Nothing cures it, broken heart must be endured.

  • @RustyTheNurse very well said! 💯

  • @RustyTheNurse wise advice sir! 🙌🏾

  • @Drop_the_Mike the only real secret is to just keep breathing.

  • Depends on the heartbreak. The death of a loved one? Romantic relationship ending? A good friend moving away? A child moving away? There is an endless variety of heartbreaks and as someone who has lived life long enough some heartbreaks have more of a bottomless pit of despair feel to them than others. And they change relative to your time in life in complexity, timing, color, smell and so on. My mom died in a plane crash and my dad died after a long struggle with cancer. On my dad’s death the heartbreak hit immediately and I got through the crushing grief quicker and with less turbulence because I was ready. My mom’s demise came from nowhere and the wake and funeral seemed like an out of body experience because I was in shock. My first plane trip a couple of weeks later was when it hit just as we cleared the cloud ceiling. She was a pilot and she died flying and I felt the heartbreak tangibly as the beams of sunlight pierced my window. I am not the crying type and I was bawling on a sold out flight which was cathartic and embarrassing simultaneously.

After that a romantic break-up seems like an emotional annoyance whereas if I was in my 20s a break-up would have been a monumental apocalypse of sadness and self-pity. Believe me, time is nothing more than a shell game where your heart’s wants and needs is never under the shell you expect it to be and heartbreak just becomes a matter of acceptance because you are tired of guessing which shell your solution is and you realize much of this is out of your control so you let the hurt soak in and accept it. Eventually it becomes another chapter in your history.

I don't believe it can in my experience, but let me know if you come to a better place with that. Wish you the best there.

  • It can be a help to your mental health

  • I agree with @Dominika. It could help your mental health. I don't believe it will cure a broken heart, though.

  • Cuddling is one of the things that helped me recover from a traumatic divorce. It's not a substitute for learning the lessons, choosing radical acceptance, processing the emotions with a mental health professional, meditation, hiking, journaling, building a supportive social network, and medication. I needed all of these.

I can definitely say that cuddling is the best thing I've done for myself since leaving my husband.

  • Time is the only thing that heals a broken heart.

  • @MCcuddles2

I agree that it takes time, but I personally don't think that it's the time that actually does the healing. I think that it's what we do during that time that brings healing.

My reason for suggesting this distinction is the fact that I've seen people who begin and continue a journey of healing, and I've seen people who don't.
