I find application of the word "should" to be of questionable value, especially when it's applied by one person to another person's actions.

We all have a set of rules that we live by, and while some of these overlap for a lot of people (don't hurt people just for fun, for example), I have rules that don't apply to you, and you have rules that don't apply to the next person in line.

The word "should" carries a hint of moral obligation, and can suggest that one believes that his or her moral and social values are also held by others.

Just my non-authoritative opinion.

    What about used in a way to try to predict something about yourself? For example "When are you free to cuddle?" "Well I should be free next [insert day and time] unless something comes up."

    I should probably remember not to hold my breath for too long if I want to keep on living.
    If I watch you demonstrate and explain a certain something, I should be able to understand it.
    I would probably use these without feeling a moral obligation, just me thinking that's what would naturally happen. Anyway this was something interesting to think about. :)

    Should, could, and would are all quite interesting in etymology terms.

    Should derives from sceal, or scule, Old English and Northumbrian words that have the meaning of "to be under oath or obligation".

    Could is essentially the, "maybe they can honor their oath, maybe they can't", while Would is basically the, "maybe they will honor their oath, maybe they won't".

    Ah, humans.

    Shall you trust them, can you trust them, will you trust them, to do as they have sworn to do?

    I was in my 1st business for 26 years and my 2nd is going on 17 years and I always treated my customers that very way.
    That was the way I was raised.

    I think when people thinking about perspectives should also be thinking of subjectivity. My world is not your world. Her world is not his world, so forth. If a person thinks, "I really should do this," there already has been a ton of calculations with many variables based on one's life experience. If a person says, "I should skydive," I say, "you should go skydiving."

    I said 'should' in another forum post but that was because I wanted to know what exactly a now banned person thought a cuddler 'should' be. He seemed to have a lot of hard expectations. Every cuddler is different for good reason and it annoyed me. So.... I used it. Guilty.
