Has anyone heard of this? Are you for or against it? And how do you think it will affect the cuddling industry?
It's simply a way for ISPs to make more money at your and everyone else's expense. I don't live in the US so it won't really change anything for me but it sure sucks if you do. If it passes your country might have the worst internet behind north korea.
As to the cuddling industry....I would imagine it's not large enough for them to notice. But I've never looked into it so I am just guessing.
Removing net neutrality rules will theoretically give an ISP the power to discriminate against a website/ service... blocking or throttling access to the site for the ISP's customers . While most of the impact will be for high network traffic sites, I am not sure if an ISP can pursue a political or social agenda

Fortunately, Sonic.net (my ISP) is very strong and outspoken on both customer privacy, and net neutrality. I highly recommend that you change your ISP to Sonic.net before December 15th, if you are located in their service area. If You are not in their service area, I recommend that you ask them to expand their area to include you. If they get enough requests, it will happen. Their phone number is (888) 766-4233.
The only thing at this point that can stop the roll back of net neutrality rules is congress. Please contact your representatives to stop this transgression of our rights. I pay a small annual rate for a good VPN to encrypt my traffic, but one of the few sites i can't be on my VPN to access it is here on CC since i'm guessing that bans are done by IP or it's setup to block people from making multiple accounts or other attempts to connect anonymously for whatever reason. But yes, if the vote goes through on what, mid-December, then ISPs will have the option to mess things up for their customers. Some have already spoken out saying they won't be changing anything, but there are a lot that haven't made any statements yet
Yes, we don't ban VPNs outright but if a scammer happens to be using a VPN, we would ban that entire network.
Loss of neutrality rules could mean a lot of problems for small websites. If an ISP does not like or understand certain businesses, they could censor and block their websites. Small businesses might get slower service if the ISPs raise the rates to get connected to the internet.
@reurbo I don’t trust any big business today. If they were not going to change anything, there would be no reason to change the rules. How dumb do they think we are?
The person doing this was the ceo or something of an ISP that tried to filter the internet but was blocked by the then new net neutrality laws. Trump appointed him to his current position in the FCC. Or so I've heard.
