What are the pros and cons of cuddling with an animal vs. a human? I used to rent at a place w 6 cats and 2 dogs. I let the cats hang out in my room on my day off. Loved it and actually it was a little bright spot during my pandemic time.
Cons
You have to take them for potty breaks.
Sometimes they bring squeaky toys or some disgusting chew to bed and you find it under the covers.
If multiple dogs, sometimes they growl, snap and bark for preferred space or attention.
They don't have any issues with walking all over you as you sleep.
Pros
They are often very right sized to cuddle with multiple pets.
They never complain about the room being too hot or too cold.
They look lovingly at you the very second you open your eyes in the morning.
If they burrow under the covers and start licking your toes. It's not some creepy weird sexual fetish thing.
You can boop them on the nose and they act like it's the best thing ever and you are so clever.
That's just some of the better ones off the top of my head
@KYtransplant great list . I love the walkover. I call that a pro. Lol. I want to shelter an animal someday.
The cons of cuddling with a rabbit: They want to chew on everything You don’t have to take them for walks but you do have to clean the litter box.
The pros: If you have a cuddly rabbit you can cuddle with them every day and even several times a day. It’s so heartwarming when they lick you or come over and put their little paws on you to get your attention. Their fur is irresistibly soft.
@Babichev - It's also hard to get a rabbit to trust you since they are natural prey animals.
Quite often an animal cuddles you out of necessity for warmth and potentially protection . Not necessarily because they enjoy your company
@Mike403 & @pmvines - Rabbits are far more affectionate, and far more intelligent than you give them credit for. I had one once who loved to cuddle with people, and to tease the cat. She would sneak up behind the cat, grab a bunch of fur in her teeth, give a good yank, and then turn and run. Cats aren't big on stamina, so he would soon collapse in a heap. Ten minutes later, he would do it all over again.
Aww rabbits sound cute.
@GreatHornedOwl - If I was that cat, I would eat it.
They were actually friends. They would eat each other's food. The rabbit liked dry cat food, but wouldn't touch the canned food. The cat actually developed a taste for c antelope. He kept trying to eat the little alfalfa bales, but would always spit them out.
@GreatHornedOwl - You are around some strange animals. The diet of cats and rabbits are very different. Cats are carnivores. Rabbits aren't.
That’s my sister‘s daughter cuddling that mastiff dog. When I went out to see her and told her that I’m a professional cuddler she goes hey just cuddle this dog you won’t need to be a professional cuddler. My sister said I wouldn’t be able to cuddle anybody if they paid me $1000. I hear that from a lot of my friends they think I’m weird. So I guess this is a niche work.
@KozyKim That is such a cool picture. Thanks for sharing.
That is a good cuddle pic. I have not seen that position exactly. It's one for the Cuddle Sutra.
You’re right it is kind of a unique cuddle position I like the hand placement. If you use her make sure to blur out her face.😬🤣
That dog is so in tuned.
@KozyKim Love how they're face to face, even though they're spooning. Precious!

That dog will let you do anything you want with him. They give him so much attention. I asked my sister what do you think the dog would say if it could speak she said… Can you please leave me alone
They never asked for his consent, bad cuddlers
Most animals seem to not like blankets but I had one dog who use to intentionally try to get under the covers to cuddle with me.
He was my great grandmother's dog which she had previously rescued from an abusive home, then I inherited because her age and declining health made it impossible to care for him.
Any other animal if I try to put a blanket over them, even when it's cold out they just walk away and don't want to cuddle anymore.
Animal cuddles are great! But pfar short of people cuddle
@GreatHornedOwl I think the friendship between cat and rabbit should really teach us something. Animals are far deeper than we give them credit for. Perhaps our own aggressions and biases could be overcome the same way.
@UCpaaHVg6u0 Totally agree! There are some very heartwarming videos out there of unlikely animal friendships, and also some where a farm animal has been raised indoors due to health reasons, and has picked up all the personality and behaviors of a pet cat or dog. Very sweet.
I guess the same reason why humans can get be friends with an animal that is also used for food. In the wild, if the rabbit didn't have so many predators, there would be a serious over population of them because they reproduce like crazy.
I love cuddling with pets and humans alike but how about both?! I recently had an amazing session with a couple of bonus cuddlers ( cats ) on the mix! They add to the session more often than not and are always a plus for me. 💜
@sr182 @Mike403 love your animals ! Awesome. @Nature_Lover_ - Your cuddlers are lucky! Love cats.
Hoping on the entire universe that she adopted this kitten 🐱 🌌 https://www.instagram.com/reel/CeUlWx5JVvf/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Cuttte!
@cylee1180 awe thanks and what an awesome thread you have started here!
@KozyKim 🤣🤣🤣 animals don’t always ask for consent! So very true! 🤪
[Edited to remove explanation.]
Pro: Most men are very uncomfortable with the idea of cuddling with other men, but feel perfectly comfortable cuddling with male pets. Con: Those men are missing out on the benefits of cuddling with another human of their same gender.
