  • @achetocuddle if I’m following your train of thought correctly (& if I’m not plz tell me so I can better understand 🤪) people will always be able to leverage web 3 in the sense that everyday someone has amassed a great following in YouTube / Instagram ect & they monetize their following … YouTube & Instagram are web 2 so people didn’t have to invest in internet to make money now if that makes sense (considering I’m understanding your question lol) …. But I would say this …I think (but in my mind I know) that blockchain is here to stay …. I think that every country will transition to digital currency cbdc (look at China, they banned Bitcoin & digitize their currency lol)

Trade finance will be digitized (this is where my biggest position is in) … paper documents will be a thing of the past, & smart contracts allow for when all terms by both parties are met that the transactions execute …. This is game changing …. Also the remittances market is a multi billion dollar a year industry ….. we are sooooo early, but I’m able to send money to someone in any part of the world confirmed in seconds & with finality (we can’t do that with western Union & the likes)… the days of Ach / middleman’s taking a cut / ect is gonna be such a thing Of the past ….

As far as crypto … there are hundreds of projects … I have a method to my madness when I invest, but I like proof of stake … delegated proof of stake is even better (for me) because I’m not technical to run nodes ect & I don’t want to lol …. I’m motivated by passive income (I’m not a day trader) so most of the projects I’m in give me rewards on a monthly basis or yearly …. Some give me rewards on the same token (which is cool but this is inflationary) I like projects that give regards on a stable coin for the most part … I feel like I’m in projects that have a strong use case , have a strong team behind them, & that I’m forever going to be a part of by delegating my coins (I never see myself selling them no matter what) I would sell those I have a position in that offer no rewards… My ath this last November was ridiculous, and I didn’t budge… I’ll be lying if I say my bags haven’t taken a tremendous hit because yes it has … again i haven’t budged either … all I’ve done is double my goals in certain projects & I was able to 5 tikes my favorite ones … and I’m also in projects I’ve always wanted to be a part of but thought I couldn’t because they were too expensive, but this market has allowed me to be a part of them : )

  • Oh and as far as Bitcoin … its perfect because it is fully decentralized in my opinion, but its not perfect because whoever created wanted it to be perfect (in my opinion) and with time comes changes , and we need to adapt … so its not perfect … and I think that everyone in defi knows this (unless someone is a Maxi (maximalist) and / or has a crazy position and doesn’t think otherwise or doesn’t want to think otherwise lol) …. So the value will always be because it is this rare thing … like a Zelda game in its package …. Bitcoin doesn’t even have smart contracts & that’s like a must in todays world, & it is proof of work not proof of stake.

    Of course.

The lack of cuddling is already a reality, and I have no reason to think it will change anytime in the future.

Taking the money would be the safest bet.

  • @cuddles_ndream A little over my head, but I'm getting some of it. Thanks. So you don't think any of these "methods" have a fairly good chance of becoming obsolete? So many things have become obsolete, not just financial things. I have no doubt that you are making informed choices. And it makes a sort of sense to me that you have not budged when you took a hit. I guess to me it just seems a little beyond "regular speculation" to feel confident about it. I think it's good you are not a day trader. I do think much more will be digitized and getting in early is the way to have a chance to make significant money. Anyway, thanks for such a good explanation. I can tell it's a good explanation, especially of your viewpoint, even tho I don't comprehend half of it :)

  • Thank you so much @achetocuddle I really appreciate that : ) & feel free to ask me anything about this world any time.

  • I still can't decide whether to take the million or never give up cuddles. I've done without enough physical affection most of my life so giving it up entirely at my age would be doable. But anyone putting a price on cuddling seems wrong/ill-advised, to say the least.

Sorry for opening a can of worms on this O.o

  • @achetocuddle for the record I was just joking about the “before taxes or after taxes” question lol 😂

  • @Eduardobel You didn't open a can of worms, not at all. cuddles_ndream and I know each other and he knows where I am coming from. I could have PMed him, but I thought others would be interested in this. I'm still interested; just don't quite know what my questions are. Lol.

  • @achetocuddle 💯

I almost want to put my top 7 favorite projects here, put their current price next to them , set a reminder on Google calendar for November 2025 (which is when the transition to iso20022 should be completed & revisit this thread than … I just don’t know if the site owner / devs / mods would view it as advertising (which I’m not) but it can be taken as that, & I don’t want to tag them for this… and also I don’t want it to be taken as financial advice …. If the site owner or mod is present plz let me know, but plz nobody tag them for this.

@cuddles_ndream - You are either being intellectually dishonest, or you are the bigger fool. I absolutely never said that bitcoin has no value. What I said is that it has no INHERENT value. If you don't know what inherent means, go look it up.

Yes, the whales were buying it. They have or had a firm belief in the bigger fool theory.

Comparing bitcoin to a bank account is either more intellectual dishonesty, or pure idiocy. A bank's primary backing is its own reserves. A banks secondary backing is the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), which is a government agency. thus, my money in the bank is backed by the federal government. Bitcoin is backed by nothing.

Worrying about internet banks because they have no physical locations is either more dishonesty or more idiocy. They legally must have the same reserves as does the bank down the street. They are also backed by the very same FDIC.

Bitcoin has value because it utilizes blockchain technology. That's the strangest argument yet, but you "guarantee it." You'll forgive me if I'm not thrilled to believe in the vale of your guarantee. How much money do you have to backup that guarantee?

Gold reserves or no gold reserves, the dollar is essentially backed by the very existence of the federal government. One dollar is, and always wi8ll be worth one dollar. How ow much you can buy with that dollar will, of course change. The dollar is no safer today, than it was when we were on the gold standard, because gold too has very little intrinsic value. A little bit is needed in some electronic circuits, and some goes into jewelry, but you can't eat it, and you can't burn it for fuel. The bitcoin is backed by nothing beyond other peoples belief.

You claim "There is only 1 way Bitcoin will go in the next couple years & that is up." May I borrow your crystal ball please. Why "a couple of years? Are you expecting the bubble to burst in 26 months? What if it happens in onle 22 months.

@achetocuddle - No. Crypto currency is not like a technology that will never be used less. It does make use of technology that will undoubtedly be used more and more, bot it is not a technology. What crypto currency is, is one more example of "Tulip Mania. In around 1600, in The Dutch Republic, the price of tulip bulbs started to rise. In February, 1637, single tulip bulbs sold for more than 10 times the annual income of a skilled artisan. By May of that year, it was worth about what it's worth now, adjusted for inflation of course. Everybody was working on the "bigger fool theory." "I know i'm a fool to pay that much, but I'll be able to find a bigger fool, and sell it for a profit." Those who got out of the market made fortunes. Those who didn't......."

Ever since then, there have been similar bubbles in many different commodities. Each time, we keep hearing "this time will be different because ......" It never is. The bubbles always burst. I've forgotten who said that "Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

  • @GreatHornedOwl Thank you for responding. I think crypto and American paper money have to be considered/treated very differently for the reasons you mentioned. I am familiar with Tulip Mania and using that as a comparison has given me a better understanding.

Me being a person who so often wants or thinks the middleman needs to be cut out of stuff, it's kinda funny/ironic what I'm about to say. I would be afraid cutting out the middleman in currency would cause problems at some point. I can't explain why.

@GoodRightHook I have to laugh a little, but what you said is so spot on to me. As I get older, and this will apply to many people, we will be viewed as less cuddly/cuddable. Taking the money would be so practical.

And I could take some of that and pay someone to be a part-time companion that did not cuddle me. Lol. Sad, but practical and true.

  • You are either being intellectually dishonest, or you are the bigger fool. I absolutely never said that bitcoin has no value. What I said is that it has no INHERENT value. If you don't know what inherent means, go look it up.

When someone doesn’t understand something, is easier to say they’re lying lol

Yes, the whales were buying it. They had a firm belief in the bigger fool theory.

They’re weren’t just buying it, they’re still buying it … wallet addresses are public you can look it up

I never said Bitcoin is a bank … I said how does the person trust that their money is there since it is coding telling them that there is a certain value … their answer was that there is a physical building, i than made the argument that there are many people banking unlike , & financial institutions without a physical location … FDIC only covers up to $250,000 per insurer , so if you have $5,000,000 I’m the bank, $4,750,000 is at risk … you convincing someone else otherwise would be intellectually dishonest. Or pure idiocy.

Worrying about internet banks because they have no physical locations is either more dishonesty or more idiocy. They legally must have the same reserves as does the bank down the street. They are also backed by the very same FDIC.

Now that we know how much the FDIC covers , can you now tell us what backs our fiat currency, our dollar? We know it hasn’t been gold reserves for decades now …(maybe Google will help)

Bitcoin has value because it utilizes blockchain technology. That's the strangest argument yet, but you "guarantee it." You'll forgive me if I'm not thrilled to believe in the vale of your guarantee. How much money do you have to backup that guarantee?

What I actually said, “Bitcoin works because it is completely decentralized, there’s no board of directors / no CEO / no company / no business entity … no gov’t in the world can shit it down … infact Bitcoin is supposed to be going up now that inflation is high instead of down, it was a response to the 2008 financial crisis … (to me this is a reflection of how mainstream it has gone & how people are treating it like a tech stock”

And I also said this - crypto not Bitcoin (let’s stay honest please) “When people think crypto they think fake internet money …. Blockchain / smart contracts does not get the credit it deserves or recognition…. This is where the value is , all of us will utilize blockchain technology regardless if we like crypto or not, or regardless if we understand it or not, I guarantee it.

Blockchain makes things very transparent… in the end we will sacrifice some privacy (especially with cbdc’s … but transparency over corruption any day.”

A dollar today is not worth what it was in 2019, inflation happend & we are over 8% now … there’s a reason for this. Did you hear what happened to the currency in Venezuela ? It is very misleading to say that a dollar is worth a dollar no matter what.

You claim "There is only 1 way Bitcoin will go in the next couple years & that is up." May I borrow your crystal ball please. Why "a couple of years? Are you expecting the bubble to burst in 26 months? What if it happens in onle 22 months.

I already gave my personal reasons why, 1 being that it is very scarce , it is widely accepted at the 1st (technically not). But the masses view it as the first crypto …. And I made examples (like dinosaurs / Andy Warhol paintings / Pokémon cards ect) if you didn’t like these reasons just say so, saying if you can borrow a crystal ball is dismissing the explanations I gave …. Just say my explanations weren’t satisfactory for you.

In conclusion … you never told me if I can say I told you so (like when Bitcoin breaks $100,000 and so on & so forth or if it would be viewed as being petty by me doing so) … also, I wanna make clear that I’m not arguing incase the mods thinks this is getting heated, it is not … these are 2 people having a defi debate ( 1 is someone that believes in it & gave reasons why & there’s another person that doesn’t & gave his reasons why & only 1 of the 2 people will be right.) time will tell :)

  • I think this thread has gone a little off topic. We should create another thread to talk about Bitcoin.

  • That would be cool @Mike403 , if you happen
To creat 1 I’ll participate in it.

"But anyone putting a price on cuddling seems wrong/ill-advised, to say the least."

In more ways than one... :)

Might move this to "complaints about Pro prices thread. Or leave it for posterity. [-Sid]

"But anyone putting a price on cuddling seems wrong/ill-advised, to say the least."

Oh man, the bushel of annelids that you just unfastened...

    grabs popcorn

  • I forgot to answer 1 of your questions @GreatHornedOwl … As a rule of thumb I don’t say how much of an asset I have, but I will tell you my positions …. (Disclaimer for anyone reading this, this is not advertising or financial advice, this is answering @GreatHornedOwl questuon)

    I have a position in

    1) Xdc (.0297)
    2) Lgcy (.000332)
    3) Pli (.0616)
    4) Prnt (0.76)
    5) Algo (0.32)
    6) Azero (0.73)
    7) Dag (.0676)

(I have several others but these are my core)

And plz no one do not invest , especially if you don’t understand this world, all it takes is for the following announcement- “We Are In A Recession) & the market will crash even further 😅 … assuming this will not get removed I am now proceeding to Google calendar and setting a reminder to re-visit this thread November 1 2025.

  • @GoodRightHook You could be right. You usually are :) I just wouldn't want to gamble that I could put cuddles aside the rest of my life and I feel like more than a few might regret it. I know how much you know your own mind and I think you could do it. You seem like you would have incredible discipline.

  • Oh goodie, now we're talking about mediums of exchange. I do love it when threads evolve.

  • I guess what I was trying to say is I would be afraid/sad for the people who took the money and later said "What have I done"? Maybe it would be a smaller minority than what I picture. I think many people could commit to something like that. I know I couldn't and I actually feel like cuddles are optional for me.

@DaringSprinter I like it when threads evolve. This cartoon/meme is funny but does point out what is hard for me to articulate. The value is so relative? and so different for each person. And I was thinking about the people I know who think they know themselves well and decide differently later.

  • i think in my lifetime I have hugged 1 woman that wasn't a relative, had no more than 10 woman place their hand on my shoulder, and no more than 3 woman flirt with me innocently/playfully, 1 time it was in the 7th grade during art class and another during study hall in 9th grade.

I don't think I have cuddled anyone really in my 25 years of living, I want to experience I don't know how I survived, can I take 1 quarter of a million for those 25 years I didn't cuddle?

  • Can't stay on topic? Then don't comment. Thanks. Want to talk about Bitcoin? Make a thread on it but don't derail this one.

    Locking this up.

  • Unlocking. One more time, in case anyone doesn't understand:

Stay on topic or don't comment. There's another thread on currency if you're so inclined, but don't do it here.

  • [Deleted User]PendingPro_Tony (deleted user)

Yes I will take the million dollars and you won’t have to worry about this cuddler anymore. Lol.

  • I would take the million , then cuddle with @Sideon and use the but I dont cuddle men so this isnt cuddling loophole while we spend obscene amounts of cash on fancy foods

  • I would be okay with this scenario, @pmvines 😁

  • Not a chance, I will cuddle to the day I die!

  • Definitely not for a million. Would have to be in the billions to even consider it, with it only strictly limiting cuddling specifically. I'd have to get my physical touch another way. Lots of massages, hand holding, and hugs for instance. Those technically aren't cuddling but would at least somewhat make up for the lack of touch from cuddling. Still... I don't know if I'd take the billions.

  • Before finding this site I may have said yes but after meeting so many great people here online and at the St Louis meet, I would say NO way, not even 10 million
Money is not everything, yes you could buy a boat but not always happiness.
I like being around positive people that are true with there feelings and a caring heart and I have found many here.
