Traveling through all 50 States (my little adventure)

Hello everyone, I've been a little bit inactive because of work but at last I can say that I'm finally able to start chipping away at one of my big bucket list items and would very much like, and welcome your feedback/suggestions.

In 2020, this idea came to me about visiting all 50 States. Initially, the only goal I had was to take a picture in front of each and every State Capitol building.. but after finding out about CC and how wonderful this community is overall, I also came to the realization of how wonderful it would be if I got to meet or cuddle at least one person in every State.

(Disclaimer: This is not a cuddle request post. Do not reply to this thread with propositions. You can always message me directly if there's anything you like to talk about or if there are any questions unrelated to this thread. I don't want it to get off topic.)

Now, I know it may be unrealistic to expect I'll be able to meet/cuddle someone in every State, but I do really like the idea of asking y'all if you know of any special places I can visit and see while I'm embarking on this little adventure. I can only do a handful of States per year at the moment, so expect a follow up thread sometime next year with another list of places, hehe 😅.

This September I will be exploring, sightseeing and driving all over:

  • Maine
  • New Hampshire
  • Vermont
  • Connecticut
  • Massachusetts
  • Rhode Island

..in that order. I've been basing all my routes, research and planning off of Google maps lol.. so, if you are a local or have traveled through before, feel free to share 😁.

What a fantastic idea! I look forward to following your adventure!

  • Love your idea! I hope you’ll revisit the Midwest. I’ll let others more familiar with those areas to make specific recommendations. I’ve been in all of those states. I like hiking and hanging out in natural areas so what’s interesting varies by the time of the year. If you’ve never been in those states in the fall, the colors of the trees can be stunning. There’s lots of history in that area, too. I will look forward to hearing about your trip.

@bekind22 I'll make sure to share some photos with y'all. 😊

@Babichev I didn't get a chance to take a picture with the State Capitol building when we did the St Louis meet and greet so Missouri is still in the list lol 😉.

I'm really looking forward to visiting Acadia National Park in Maine while I'm there.

For Maine I HIGHLY recommend Acadia National Park! If you’re a hiker I would definitely climb up Pamola and cross Knifes Edge over to Katahdin!!! That is a humbling, but breathtaking hike!!!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!! If you like the ocean I love Wells Beach!!! Maine is one of my favorites!!! I hope you have an amazing journey!!!!!!

  • I am on a similar quest. In two weeks I'll be in North Dakota, which will be the 41st state I've visited. I'll spare you the details on what I do in each state.

@MavReborn Acadia National Park is the main spot I want to visit for Maine! I'm really looking forward to it. I have a question though, because I've got some confusing (probably out of date) info on the park. Is it free, or do I pay at the entrance? I've also read you can buy a pass online?

I really love trains and I have been quite delighted at discovering the Connecticut coastal amtrak route. I have a particular fondness for the early morning train.
My favorite CT town is probably New Haven.

@Gabriel2k I am excited for you being willing and able to do this adventure. I have visited all 50 states, most of them several times. When you head to the Western States I can give you some ideas. Be safe in your travels.

  • I've set foot in 14 states, plus DC. I have also been asleep in seven others.

@Gabriel2k if you want the real set (50 states is just a cop out) you may be interested in the least popular thread of all time.

  • Omgosh!! @Gabriel2k how fun is this? What a FABULOUS bucket list idea!!!

I was in Mass last year and I found this absolutely adorable... I mean POSTCARD TYPE beauty called Rockport. Its a little sleepy town outside of Boston but it was so completely delightful. I wound up staying in an Airbnb that was owned by a rock star from an 80's band (I know... I'm OLD)

I have plans to revisit this lovely city sometime in the future.

    So excited for you!!

  • I recommend Button Bay State Park in Vermont. There are sea fossils there that formed when Vermont was near the equator in the ancient Pangea. The view of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains from the middle of Lake Champlain at the point is really special.

  • @Gabriel2k ~ Yay!! I'm so glad you're getting to start on this bucket list entry! So fun!!

I don't know what to recommend out there but, if you're at all interested in the random along the way, this site will likely point out some to consider... https://makemydrivefun.com/

Not sure where in Vermont you are going, but in Burlington they have this very cute bunch of small local stores and restaurant on Church street. Its like an outside mall, I remember a very yummy fudge factory but can't remember the name 😅, if its still exist. I haven't been to VT since the pandemic..

  • Great idea!
"Around the country in 50 cuddles" :)

  • @Gabriel2k , a very neat thing to do.
I have been in 35 states myself in over about 15 years. But the best thing about it I was paid to do that as I was transporting boats. I would love to do a road trip with my RV and try to meet as many cuddlier’s as possible. But I have found most are not comfortable meeting at a campground and cuddle in an RV.
Best of luck on your trips.

  • Wonderful adventure. I look forward to seeing more posts, and I second Burlington, VT. Grand Isle VT is also beautiful.

How fun!!! I have been causally pursuing this goal in my normal travels. Like when I was in Bozeman, MT, I was able to hit Wyoming and Idaho as well in one of my days off and scratch those off the list. I only have 8 states left :) Damn Dakotas…and then mostly New England north of NYC haha! One day I’ll get to Alaska as well…

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions! I've been a little busy with planning and some other things as the trip is getting closer, but I will definitely be posting how it went during/after my travels.

Maine will be interesting since it looks like it will be raining the entire time I'm there lol.

    Maine
Well, so many things went wrong right at the start that I feel I owe it a second visit sometime down the road.. multiple flights delayed, planes breaking after boarding, my bags getting lost, it raining the entire time, read that last part again lol.. it rained the entire time I was there!

But from what I go to see, it is a beautiful place, so green! And if you live somewhere in the States where there are no tolls, or if you've never seen one, don't worry.. I found them! These crazies are hoarding all the tolls up in here, I've never driven through so many tolls in my life lol.

And the cuddles, it melts my heart just thinking about it. What a wonderful experience. Y'all are some truly amazing peeps, thank you for making my first cuddle sessions ones I won't forget.

  • @Gabriel2k It was such a pleasure getting to meet you and cuddle with you! I hope the hugs made up for at least some of the craziness you went through, and I hope the rest of your journey goes more smoothly! 🤗

  • @Gabriel2k Love your updates! So, happy for you to be going on this journey. If you make your way back to the midwest, reach out! Great pics! 😎

    New Hampshire
Hello, hello.. yes, me again. Here to share my adventure with you wonderful people.

Though a few places I wanted to see were closed, I have to say, the drive was fantastic. These States up here are gorgeous, and the scenery, wow! I loved the trees, the green, the mountains, the hills.. Google maps doesn't do it justice. Thank you all for the suggestions so far.

    No New Hampshire cuddles, unfortunately.

  • Lovely idea! Great idea! Wish you the best of luck!

  • @Maverick07 😂🤣😁 Are you movie quoting??

@Gabriel2k it is soooooo fun to see you doing this lovely trip!!! We COLORADOANS don't know what you're talking about rain.... We're having record highs!!! Know who would love to see your smiling eyes?

THIS GIRL!! Over here!! Hello. 😊😊😊

  • [Deleted User]Gabriel2k (deleted user)

@sillysassy someone always has it worst, sadly I am very aware of that. After being in the desert cooking for a couple months without a drop of rain, it being raining nonstop for the whole day was a very noticeable change that cracked me up the entire time I was in Maine.. like someone said, here's the backlog of the last few months you missed, enjoy! 🌊 lol

  • [Deleted User]Gabriel2k (deleted user)

    Vermont
I have been pleasantly surprised by the verticality(?) of the States up here.. everything is so hill-y and tall. I thought this place was going to be flat lol.

I still can't pronounce Montpelier right. I'll hear it, then go, ahhh! that's how you say it.. Then a blink later I forgot again. For some reason I thought Burlington was going to be filled up with skyscrapers, weird layout but cool.

Cuddles are really nice, I like cuddling! Do ou like cuddling? High five to my Vermont cuddle buddy, I wish we had had more time.

  • Great job and wish you all the best. Looking forward for the day you complete all 50 states. 👏👏👏

  • @Gabriel2k you're right! Verticality of states lol !

That part of US when driving you're in one State then the next quickly! Looks like a blast! 👍

  • Beautiful hills and mountains in the north east. 😍🥰
