Something I wrote, reflecting on the past month. Thought I would also share it here.
Over the last month, I've attended two weddings. One from my dad's side of the family and one from my mom's side.
The common theme at each wedding is being surrounded by and immersed in extended family. Cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and elders, all spending days together, under the same roof, in one house.
There is a primal joy that comes from being surrounded by your literal, multi-generational tribe. The way humans have lived for thousands of years.
This experience, which is at the core of what it means to be human, is often lost in the western way of living, and slowly being lost in the east as well.
It's nice to experience it once in a while.
@MCcuddles2 I get that. I always loved spending time at my grandma's house, surrounded by forty relatives from babies to 70's. My shyness made me hope that none of them talked to me directly, but I sure loved watching all of them interact. That was lost as soon as my grandparents passed away. The whole group never gets together anymore, and it's very sad. I'm glad you can still experience that.
