@pmvines lol. Okay I'm over the educational value of boner threads. touché.
@pmvines Idk. Those are some hard threads to get through...
... I need to stop reading the dad jokes thread.
One of the sources of conflict comes from some folks wanting support and others wanting discussion/debate. Those who come to an open forum wanting support may end up being shocked and/or disappointed when they don’t get it because not everyone agrees with them.
Back in my youth I knew a minister who said he thought it was a greater sin to take offense than to give offense. This was partly because we have a choice about taking offense or not and we can choose to take the high road, assume people’s good will, and even if they don’t have good will, we can choose not to take the bait. People take offense when none is intended and then it strays from the subject.
Last night a friend was discussing a recent experience. He was supposed to host a group of students from a foreign country and was worried about unwittingly saying or doing things they would consider rude. (The event ended up getting cancelled so the worry was all for naught.) I told him that one would hope their group coordinator would have prepared them for interacting with Americans. I’ve traveled in 15 countries outside of the U.S. and one of the things I would always do is to try to find out ahead of time what sort of things Americans did that annoyed/offended people so that I could intentionally avoid them.
When you have people from all over with different standards, different backgrounds, different levels of education, familiarity with a subject, etc., it’s impossible to cater to every single person’s idea of what is rude and what is not.
@pmvines @Shake49 @MxSmith 🤣😁😂 Omgosh... YOU ALLLLLLLLL!!!!!! hahahahhahaha so so so very true. One only need to look at a FEW pages of threads to find those threads popping up all over.
_"This is a place to learn and damn it, it's hard sometimes!"-
@MCcuddles2 I don't think you are fully representing this cuddle community when you say.........
This is a business.
I am fairly certain that the Creators of this website would disagree with your statement. While I am incredibly thankful for the Pro's I feel there are LOTS of people here who are interested in and ENJOYING other parts of this community. While there are PORTIONS of it that are a business...... there is a great number of people who are here for the CONNECTIONS as humans. I feel like your statement is minimalizing and trivializing the intent of the site and somehow trying to force it into a small narrowminded container.
This is something that an old timer was talking with me about. When did people start coming to CC looking for mental therapy instead of just platonic cuddles? There are many pros reaching out saying "I can heal your trauma" and as @pmvines has mentioned.... its not a healthy thought process to think that cuddling or someone besides yourself can HEAL you of your trauma or do anything than hold space for people to work out their own issues. So many disappointed people who see THERAPY as the result of platonic cuddles wind up being frustrated most times.
@Babichev I love that idea!! It might be MORE problematic to TAKE OFFENSE... very interesting thought! And this.... Yes. So much truth in this.
@sillysassy spot on as usual. You are the gem of the site. You and @pmvines are both correct about this not being the place for “mental therapy”. You also now see people on the forum that crave attention and need to have their egos stroked. The forum is not only pretty boring now days, but the flooring is made out of egg shells that you need to tread so delicately on.
But I always read your posts.
@sillysassy you're reading quite a bit into one sentence that I wrote, and assigning motives and ideas to me.
I have plenty of non pro connections that I've made here. People I see regularly, even. I also have pros who have become friends.
All I'm saying is that for this site to exist it needs a revenue stream. Unless it was a non profit, (even then, you need a source of money).
No revenue stream, no platform for non professional connection.
Also, I get that you probably don't like me 🤷♂️ (which is fine and I'm ok with), and that's probably why you had a strong reaction to my sentence.
Also, I don't know if the therapy spoiler was aimed at me, but that's definitely not what I'm here for.
As for those who are dismayed at the forum being boring, perhaps thw purpose of the forum isn't entertainment, and you should seek entertainment elsewhere?
@MCcuddles2
I put that item in a spoiler because it was off topic and I didn't want to derail the thread. I also put things in spoilers so that people don't have to read them and can quickly scroll past them. I was absolutely not trying to aim something at you about therapy because that's not my style. There are a LOT of people coming here for that specifically and if you are one of those people so be it. It doesn't follow that you said "I don't like you" because its not true at all and if you read anything I write, then you know that I truly do love all humans. Just because I disagree with something you wrote doesn't have anything to do with how much affection I do or do not have for you.
My frustration with the comment that "this is a business" was because that is something that causes a huge source of conflict on the site and I feel it also creates an image of @Mark that is unreasonable and somewhat disparaging.
You @MCcuddles2 are correct that I had a strong reaction to your statement because I believe a LOT of people read these threads even if they're not posting and I would like to present both sides of the coin. I was merely pointing out that you were speaking in a rather "singular" kind of way that was somewhat misrepresentative of the collective whole of the community.
Not trying to create offense but instead... clarity.
Ok, I will budge. The purpose of this site is to facilitate connection, and the financial aspect is a small but important component that allows the non professional connection to take place.
@MCcuddles2 absolutely. BOTH are necessary parts of this beautiful community. 😊
@FunCartel
Sneaking in here and there and TREADING CAREFULLY & CIRCUMSPECTLY!! 😂
I like your posts @MCcuddles2 . Unlike me, you are not afraid to say what you think and you say it so well. I realize my opinion won't get anyone a cup of coffee unless you put $5 with it. I always look forward to your posts whether I agree or not:)
I like this thread; it's interesting and no one is being rude. I hope more people will feel free to contribute.
@MCcuddles2 If you read anything like that from @sillysassy then you are being a bit too sensitive. She is the last person to take offense or dislike anyone. And she prefaced her disagreement as “your statement” not “you”. There is a world of difference in that. Disagreement does not mean dislike.
Since when did "business" become a derogatory term? Anything that makes money is a business whether or not you enjoy the work.
I was puzzled at saying that CC is a business being skewed as somehow disparaging to @Mark. A huge and unnecessary reach, in my humble opinion.
@FunCartel sensitive would imply that I was somehow hurt by this. I wasn't. Rather it's my perception from previous interactions on this forum.
Have you people read many other forums? Compared to the rudeness at some forums I've read this place is as polite as tea with the queen.
Since when did "business" become a derogatory term?
When private equity firms seized control of this country sending housing, commercial and industrial rent and prices beyond the reach of more Americans. Since income disparity has accelerated over the past 20 years. Just sayin’. I make very good money and live comfortably but it is obvious and getting worse for so many who are not so fortunate.
@snugbuddy 💯
@Mike403 and @MCcuddles2 I agree.
@achetocuddle
I like your posts @MCcuddles2 . Unlike me, you are not afraid to say what you think and you say it so well.
Thank you for seeing me. 🙏
I grew up in a very violent area and escaped into books. All that reading led to being able to express my thoughts, emotions and ideas with words. Something I really enjoyed doing.
I've had traumatic brain injuries since then, and am still working on getting my articulation back.
@MCcuddles2 Dang, dude, that is unbelievable. I'm sorry to hear about where you grew up being violent and sustaining traumatic brain injuries. I love to read nonfiction and it has helped me some. I can't imagine my life without books.
