People will do anything to make a quick buck. This "condiment" which is being referred to as Pink Sauce is being cooked up somebody's kitchen and sold by someone who does not know what the FDA does. (she thinks they only regulate medicine). It contains perishable ingredients such as milk and is shipped in bags without any cooling material.

    Mayo and other perishable items are sold on the food aisles and shipped without refrigeration . How is the pink sauce being bottled I suppose would determine whether it is safe

    True generally for those things, they are packaged sterile but once opened they go bad quickly

    @pmvines @sunnysideup - I doubt a Tik Toker has sterile factory and the right equipment to bottle it correctly. She is likely mixing it up in her kitchen. She didn't even go through the appropriate FDA approval process. She doesn't even know what the F in FDA stands for.

    @Rezz - At least with the Tide Pod challenge, they had a better idea what it was they were eating. This thing has a different shade of pink/red every time it is ordered which means there's no consistency.

    All I will say is that I remember the late 90s/early 2000s craze of green, purple, and blue ketchup.

    No safety seals, even. Paying for the privilege of getting sick (or dying from botulism) seems... counterintuitive. You can do that for free.

    I understand the idea some purchasers have: "It must be safe, because she wouldn't want to kill her customers!" But the reasoning is flawed. You don't have to be malevolent to hurt people—being stupid and/or uninformed will work just fine.

    I think it's jarring to me because of the whole 'bright colours in nature' thing. Like how some poisonous frogs are bright green or yellow to warn predators that they are poisonous.

    Even as a kid I was grossed out by 'unnatural' coloured or flavoured novelty foods.

    In my country this would be illegal on many different levels! Easily spoiled food, no real labels, processing likey more than +50% bought food (Laws are less strict when you make marmalade from self grown fruits for example), without permission of our version of FDA, wrong shipping method and it's uncertain to me if she even registered her business!

    @Nexusss: To sue someone you've got to have money, time, and reliable transportation... and even then you're not sure to win the case. Who in the USA has money after a hospital visit?

    She might get sued. I hope she does, and I hope she loses. But a lot of other stupid people will probably get hurt before that happens, if it ever happens. And in the end, isn't profit most important anyway? In America, the economy matters more than human lives.

    Look at all the people Daily Harvest sent to the ER. It takes some yelling to get the FDA to respond, but... that's probably what people will do, rather than launch expensive lawsuits.
