Possibly a dumb question...

I keep seeing and hearing the term "pancake" or "pancaked" come up in cuddle discussion. I am going to assume this is a position, but can someone explain please? (visuals welcome, and not of breakfast foods! :p )

Thanks!

  • One partner lays on top of the other. I did this with my closest cuddle friend, we called it The Patrick Blanket. I was on my back, he was on top on his knees with his arms wrapped around me. I miss it :(

  • Thanks @Cuddle_RN . I wound up googling it too and learned this. Maybe I could have done that first before posting - but it's always interesting to see what the community here might have to say about a topic, or position in this case, just like you elaborated a bit. I appreciate it!

  • Thank gawd this doesn't have anything to do with maple syrup. I'm much relieved, @Cuddle_RN B)

  • @Sideon LOL! That'd make for a sticky situation...

I wasn't familiar with the 'pancake' term, either, and appreciate the clarification. I pictured a similar position, but involving a stack of three more more people... (I can't remember the last time I had less than three pancakes 🥞😋)

  • This is one of my favorite positions! It's great on the back. It works best when there's a pillow to support the top pancakes head as well~

  • This is NOT a dumb question!!!!! That is how you learn new things. Yes I have heard of the Pancake cuddle position before.

  • Lol ~ I've always thought of it as a "short stack" (more than two) as well... like a vertical "sandwiching" of sorts.

Though now I'm wondering how 'sandwich' became a known term... because sandwiches aren't a laid out 'side by side' food...
    🥪🦧

And why are so many intimate things referenced as foods anyway??

Like the whole eggplant thing. Who the heck made that gross exaggeration become the known emoji to use? It's one of the most unpopular veggies and isn't even really edible without being sliced and cooked. But that's somehow what dudes want to use.
    🤔

  • @quixotic_life Eggplants are delicious! 😠 lol

  • @cylee1180 If they are fried and served with marinara they are :)

  • The syrup acts as a binding agent in this scenario ?

  • In a true pancake, isn't the weight of the top person going to be uncomfortable after a couple of minutes? It also seems outside the platonic mindset

  • @TigerFan ~ Not to me...

... I absolutely love when I get to have a human blanket!!

  • My favorite too. I want to be squished.

  • There are no dumb questions, only dumb people

  • holding up a pencil "Why is this walnut an ear?"

  • @Tigerfans if you get the positioning exactly right, you can do it for a surprisingly long time.

It's completely platonic. Depending on the relative propitious if the bodies and on how you are doing it you may need to be careful to avoid ending up in a non-platonic position. But if you are with somebody you know well, and the relationship is securely platonic, even that doesn't matter.

It's common to lay legs straight out on top of legs. This adds to the weight and contributes to a stronger feeling of being .... well I suppose it's a bit like a super tight hug.

  • @quixotic_life: I nod as though that makes sense, and, looking you dead in the eye, I eat the pencil.

  • @DaringSprinter and @quixotic_life

I am LITERALLY dying over here!!!!!

  • ALSO...... Thank you and a big shout out to @sdcuddleguy who'd willing to ask the tough questions!!!

Thank you for being a part of CC and filling out a FABULOUS blue hair kind of profile. 😊

I was just in your world last year and enjoyed some fabulous fireworks and HURRICANES! Thank you for your hospitality!

  • Thanks @sillysassy !!

Next question related to this… seems it can be front to front, front to back, back to back - pretty much as long as your stacked it qualifies as a pancake ???

  • @sdcuddleguy it's your cuddle - you can do whatever you want as long as everybody is cool with it.

Cuddling is new and cuddle position names are very much still in flux. The only one which has really crystallised is "spoon".

  • @Cuddle_RN Is your username about your career or your enthusiasm?

😊TigerFan, I knew nothing about the pancake in detail until now; heard the term used.
As a very common position for intimate couples, we don't, OK, I don't find the weight uncomfortable at all. However, cuddling with a platonic partner can take it up a hot notch, I don't think I would😉

  • @TigerFan - because the weight is widely distributed, it’s more easily tolerated. Plus usually one is doing it on a bed which has give to it, conforms to the body, absorbs some of the force.

  • I don't think that appropriate for a cuddle session

Yeah, it's probably not for everyone. But for those of us who it is for, it's pretty sweet!!
And totally appropriate for a cuddle... 🤗

    :adding:
And @sdcuddleguy ~ I'm going to answer with a, YES!! (even though I don't really know... it sounds right! So yay!!)...

@hotmoca37 for a typical first session between professional and client I would tend to agree. However, it's fine once you have an established relationship. I have done it with a number of professionals, at their suggestion. My impression was that it's fairly popular with their clients.

That version is face to face, professional on top. Legs straight, legs on top of legs. The person on top needs a pillow for their head. It's a bit like a top to toe hug, except lying down. And the alignment is at the head. (Not the feet, which is where it is for a hug. Or the hips, where it would be for non-platonic activities.)

And yes, I think you would need to be on a bed or other soft surface.

Almost anything is platonic if the intent is genuinely platonic. Consider the medical and care professions in their various relationships with the nether regions.

  • @DaringSprinter ...

What that looks like in real life...

What that looks like in my nightmares...

    😱 ... NOOooooo!!!

[whispers] ... "they're coming for you"
