Filling out profiles

[Deleted User]SJSpooner (deleted user)

So, I am brand new on this site. Already within 24 hours I've received a number of messages from men. One thing I am noticing is that at least 75% of them say absolutely nothing about themselves in the profile section. Not one word. This is not helpful for anyone. I have no idea if we we will have anything in common. It makes striking up a conversation tiresome.

My question (most likely aimed at the admins/moderators) is: Can there not be a requirement (1 sentence at least) that a member fill out some sort of profile? I get messages from men saying "Hello". That is it. I go back to read about them and nothing - nada! I hate to ignore people, but I don't want to be feel obligated to drag information out of someone.

I'd appreciate others' thoughts on the topic. Thanks!

100% agree that empty profiles are less than helpful!

@Mark (the admin) might have an opinion on requiring non-empty profiles.

And by the way @SJSpooner, your profile text is awesome. :)

@SJSpooner, you joined and have received a number of messages within 24 hours. I promise you nearly every man here wishes he were so lucky. ;-)

I agree that an empty profile is not helpful. I say this as someone who once had one. And it's not just men --- I see plenty of women who have not a single word in their "About" section on the profile. Occasionally, I even notice a pro like that! Here's an example: https://www.cuddlecomfort.com/amoraborealis

That said,, I'm leery of making it a requirement. We all have different preferences --- for adequate profile descriptions, or clear face photos, etc. --- but I'm generally against forcing everyone to do things the way I'd want them done. Some people create a bare bones profile just so they can look around and satisfy their curiosity. They are not certain they actually want to speak to anyone, much less meet for a cuddle. Other people do expect to meet people. If someone can't be bothered to say a word of introduction about themselves (no profile and an initial message that says only "hello") then they've helped you narrow their shopping list by selecting themselves for elimination from consideration. Next!

Anyway, welcome to the site, and as @funandadventure would say... have fun and play safe. :-)

@all. When @SJSpooner first appeared I looked quickly at her profile. 5 short lines, and she said more than a lot of us do in several paragraphs. In fact, I complimented her on her profile. Now she obviously has a talent that some of us lack, but she is correct about the empty profiles being unfair to the rest of us. Everybody worth meeting could do 25 words, couldn’t they?

  • I'd like to see something that encourages people to fill in heir profile. Could be something like an email telling why people like to see a filled in profile, or a percentage score showing how much of your profile is filled in and what to fill in next.

  • @SJSpooner I think this thread is closely related to the 'What are some questions you should ask someone when introducing yourself?' thread, and is a much needed subject. Thank you for starting it.

@quietman775 After listening to many horror stories from the women in my life about the vast number of messages they get on various sites from men who are clueless, disrespectful, insistent, and just plain idiots, I for one have no desire to be so lucky as to have to sort through so many messages of that sort in order to find the one or few worth actually responding to, or worse yet totally miss the one you are really looking for! Wow that's a long sentence, but I see no way to make it shorter. Why do you think it is so hard for men to get replies from women on here here and elsewhere? I agree with @Greybeard that, "Everybody worth meeting could do 25 words, couldn’t they?" If someone just wants t check out what it is all about, maybe @Mark could make an option for them to sign on as a guest, and if they want to communicate here at all, then they would have to set up a real profile.

Speaking of @funandadventure, I sent him a message wondering where he has been and how he is doing. Does anyone know anything about his status?

  • @quietman775. I'm with you on this one. While a filled in profile is nice, it's not a requirement for me to cuddle with them. 1) We definitely CANNOT assume that everyone is truthful in their profile 2) Some people have a difficult time finding the good inside themselves to create a profile that they feel would be worthy of a cuddle (these people need cuddles the most!) 3) To me a profile is a good jumping off point to be able to start a conversation but I can do that with a "Hi, how are you? Tell me a bit about yourself" message.

As a very busy cuddler (I'm on 5 different cuddle sites and have my own little cuddle company and advertise on CL), I love getting all messages. I love taking the time to read them all and I respond to EVERY SINGLE ONE. I have cuddle requests coming in from all directions and it's never a chore to me nor is it that time consuming. I love the fact that some took the time out of their busy day to send me that message.

As far as my experience, I have had fantastic cuddles with cuddlers with a blank profile and the 2 cuddles that I discontinued due to severely inappropriate behavior, on their part, had a fully written profile.

@I_am_Polylover I don't disagree with the sentiment of wanting a filled-out profile. My only problem is with the word "require." It reminds me of of a post from months ago where a different cuddler wanted Admin to require profile face pics, because she didn't like giving out an email address to get pics. My stance was the same on that thread as on this one: say in your profile that you won't respond to the ones that don't meet your personal criteria, but there is no need for Admin to require everyone on the website to do as you wish. I don't condone people acting like they are "cluelss, insistent, or just plain idiots." But that wasn't the issue I was addressing --- only blank profiles.

If ppl want to write alot GOOD for them, and if ppl want to write a little GOOD for them, Let ppl be ppl

-Dont hate on me for my opinion-

  • I admit I’m
More likely to respond to someone with a profile filled out . Doesn’t have to be lengthy just a little effort . It especially bugs me when people complain about not getting any connections when they are putting so little effort . To me it’s like when people complain about not having a job but they aren’t actively applying . just looking around cool . I figure you get what you put into things more often .
