Where are my EDM lovers?

I go to a ton of festivals and local shows. It's such a welcoming community filled with love and acceptance. Think you're weird? There's someone even weirder walking about. It gets a bad rep often confused with requiring drugs to have fun. This couldn't be further from the truth. I go 100% sober alone or with my family from all over the world and always have an immaculate time.
I was so fortunate to have @Sheena123 join me for her first show at EDC last year and plan to rage with her again next month. 🫶

Favorite festival this year has been Lost Lands.
Best local show this year has been Mersiv and Subtronics.

So where's my fam at here?

There's a stigma attached to a genre of music which is pretty unfortunate but I get it. Hopefully this thread can help destigmatize the EDM community.

    I went to my first EDM show this year and had a BLAST, saw DJ Diesel, moshed in my wheelchair, it was incredible. Was protected by the crowd so I did not get trampled, I felt the love so deep.

    No one is forcing you to participate. You can just gloss over any topic that doesn't appeal to you.
    Amazing right? This is one thread in a sea of thousands of other off topic discussions here.

    To some EDM can make them feel grounded and help them concentrate. And no it's not for everyone. Several of my clients have found acceptance and a healthy outlet for their depression, anxiety and loneliness by going to shows, so it's relevant to many even if it doesn't appeal to you.

    @WestsideMarc Not my cup of tea either but the music I like I am sure is like nails on a chalkboard to others. Just let it lie. Like @Rezz said, there is an array of threads on all sorts of topics. I hope this doesn’t come across too strong because you are normally a levelheaded nice guy, unlike me, a professional asshole with years of experience to back up that claim.

    @WestsideMarc we have threads on here about boners., sandwiches, cartoons , stuffed animals, cars, holidays , pets, and MMA. This thread certainly deserves a space among the rest of the non cuddling related threads.

    If all people ever talked about in the forum was cuddling the forums would be a mundane and boring place to visit . I'm glad this thread exists it adds diversity.
    That and it makes me wanna shake my body 💥

    Also just saw DJ Diesel for the 5th time at LL and he called out our rave daddy who is an impressive 7 feet tall. He offered $1000 to anyone who could knock him down in the pit.. lol
    It went unclaimed.

    Shaq is so wholesome! He stopped the show for a girl who was down and wouldn't start until she was up and safe. He preaches about protecting the ladies and watching out for one another. I mean who couldn't love him.

    @Rezz fan of the Anjunadeep DJ/Producers especially Marsh, Simon Doty, Jody and James Grant, Eli and Fur, Durante, Franky Wah etc. Probably a bit tame to be considered full on EDM and I’m probably too old to like this kind of music. But I still love it

    I enjoy deep house! I enjoy it while I'm cuddling or drawing.
    I'm an absolute feral bass head though. You will find me headbanging at the rail and getting wonky with the guy in a banana suit. 🫠

    Tame, chill or just bone breaking filthy bass I love it all.

    EDM is incorporated into so much music these days, yet so many people trash it but actively listen to it without realizing it.
    If it sounds good, I'll listen to it.

    If you like mellow try CharlestheFirst ( RIP 😔 ) or Of The Trees. Both very chill artists who I adore. Also makes for great cuddle playlist music.

    Welcome home! It can be so healing to be a part of a massive community who just wants to
    be creative and support one another.

    Now there are bad apples just as with anything. But I have had overwhelmingly more positive experiences at all the shows and events I've gone to. ❤️

    My favorite way to see how someone performs as
    a DJ is to watch their live sets on YouTube. Watching people react to drops or melodies gives me goosebumps.

    Fellow raver here! Started going to raves in 2001, had a few years off before going to them again in 2010 up until the last 3-4 years, was even working as an event crew member for a couple years. I listen to a variety of EDM genres (trance, psytrance, house, dubstep, jungle, happy hardcore, etc..) and I've met Armin van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, Afrojack, Louis the Child, and several others. I was supposed to meet Krewella a few months ago, but they cancelled the meet-n-greet for every Friday night show because they did them after the show and had another city to travel to for a show on Saturday night.
    Some of my favorite larger events have been EDC, Future Fest, Nocturnal Festival, Once in a Blue Moon, Spring Love, Sensation, Wakarusa, and Decadence (in Phonenix) with several smaller state local events. I've wanted to do Electric Forest, Tomorrowland, Ultra, and yes, Burning Man (I was lucky to get a ticket the first year they did the raffle, but the unlucky that my car had a serious failure taking every dollar I'd saved for the trip I wasn't going to be able to earn back so I sold my ticket and haven't been able to try again to go... yet).

    Alan Walker, Seven Lions, and Porter Robinson have some incredible music and put on a hell of a show... right up there with Infected Mushroom and Glitch Mob.

    @Rezz I have a female friend I talk to when I walk around my neighborhood—she is 38 and a single mom who had a rough childhood and has struggled mentally her entire life. She loves EDM and goes out to clubs twice a month. EDM doesn’t solve her problems, but it does wonders for her mood temporarily. She says it really calms her and has a tranquilizing effect on any bad feelings she has at that moment and she sleeps soundly on those nights and no, she doesn’t use drugs. She lights up if you bring up EDM and it seems to sustain her. So I can see where it helps people.

    Yes! I almost tagged you @reurbo I love discovering new music as much as I love finding fellow ravers in the wild. Where else can you walk into a room full of strangers with a plunger on your head and no one would bat an eye? No where.

    TomorrowLand is on my wishlist for next year. I want to experience an international festival to see how they throw down.
    And yes yes yes to Electric Forest. I've heard nothing but good things about it. It's another tough one to secure tickets for but one day damnit.

    I've heard Decadence is a good time maybe I should put that on my list. 🤔

    I've done Ezoo, EDC Orlando, Invasion, Forbidden Kingdom and Lost Lands. This month I have Summoning Of the Eclipse - Svdden Deaths first festival and EDCO in November.

    Between these I hit up a show on average 3 times a month whether it's local djs or touring artists to keep my music therapy in check until the next festival. Since you can't make it to large festivals right now you should go check out a free or cheap local event or underground shows.

    I hope our paths cross one day! Surely with as many festivals we want to attend, we will.

    EMD! I've yet to go to a concert or show, but love the idea. I mention it in my profile. XD I relax to chillstep, mellow with trance (w/vocals) or hype up to something else.

    I'm going to show my ignorance and maybe its related to my sheltered existence or but I need someone to tell me what EDM stands for. Also I love all types of music and know it is good for our cognitive functioning and to develop better emotional intelligence to be open to trying new experiences out of our comfort zone.

    @Shade_Wolf I cannot recommend EDMtrain enough if you're looking for shows and events.
    Find an artist that appeals to you and just go. Go alone if you can't find someone. There's local EDM FB groups I use to find others going solo and link up with them if I'm feeling it. The community is welcoming and friendly . If you're good with exchanging smiles and being kind you'll instantly make friends. It's just that easy.

    Hey love it stands for Electronic Dance Music.
    Here's two examples of what gives me goosebumps.

    - Level Up at Lost Lands. Her set was just 🥵 I LOVE people watching live sets. It gives me all the feels.

    Boogie T - bassy funk , doesn't hurt he has such a fun stage presence.

    For you, it could be trance , techno, house or dubstep. There's also various subgenres of those subgenres. Lol ❤️

    I would love to go to a festival one day! The community seems so welcoming! I recently discovered a subgenre called Riddim and have been listening to random playlists the past few weeks.

    Riddim is another genre that makes my brain happy. 1000 BPM techno is just annoying racket to me but robot noises are 😍

    If you like I can give you some playlist suggestions with a massive range of riddim and dubstep artist.

    As for festivals there's so many small productions that pop up that are not as well known or crowded as the larger more expensive ones near Nashville ! Join a local EDM FB group and see what's going on. Feeling lonely , sad or want to just meet like minded friendly people? Thow on some jeans, comfy shoes, a Tshirt and just go.

    I love BT. I do sometimes find that listening to EDM, trance, deep house, chill, etc. helps me relax and feel free and expansive— transcendent, even. Don’t think I’d want to cuddle to it, though. (Although getting touchy-feely on the dance floor can be wonderful.)
