I have no tattoos.
My left thumb is double-jointed. 👍🏻
My favorite DJ had me record a commercial for the radio when I was a teenager.
Sunshine makes me grumpy, and overcast, gloomy days make me bounce off the walls. 🌫
I think coffee is disgusting, and even being a shift manager at Starbucks for four years couldn't change that. ☕️
I'm afraid of moths...and therefore, by association, butterflies. 😐🤪🦋 I had an actual hyperventilating panic attack when I walked into my first free-flying butterfly atrium, and that's the moment I discovered this fun fact. 🤣
@carrieanne My boyfriend is a synesthete, too. It's absolutely a superpower. 🤯
~ Sunset Snuggles
I was an only child until I was 16 years old, have 3 siblings that are between 16 and 19 years younger (which gave me an excuse when they were younger to buy them toys I wanted as a kid or show them old cartoons I grew up with, and just generally enjoy things from childhood. now they are grumpy teenagers and I miss when they used to look up to me.). I also was the only grandchild/nephew on both sides of my parents family until I was around 13 for my dad's side, and 14 for mom's side. Basically I was lonely to have no close family members my age, so I loved spending time with my uncle who's only 10 years older than me, clung to my dog growing up, and would be always wanting friends to sleep over. (I used to cry when they'd leave because I'd get lonely.) Well this was longer than I originally thought. Whoops.
@carrieanne it absolutely blew my mind when I learned that my best friend not only could NOT see pictures in her head but neither did she have a monologue.
@CSnMUS87 That is so interesting. And I'm sad that you were so lonely.
I was getting ready to say I can't think of a random fact about myself, then I remembered I love the smell of an extinguished candle.
I'm lovin these random facts
The song that really got me into heavy metal was "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Iron Maiden.
@carrieanne: I don't have synesthesia, but I do think in pictures—or in 3-D models. Gave me an edge when I first started watchmaking.
Another random fact: I was essentially raised in a parallel universe where magic is real.
@carrieanne Piggybacking on what @DaringSprinter said, my mind visualizes shapes when I listen to music, for instance. I have no idea why.
@carrieanne
YES! I try to explain memories are photographs, music is shapes and colors and sometimes I can smell numbers. I thought this was normal, but I was on acid and we were listening to music and there was a key change in the song and I asked, "yo, did you see that?" Then I realized how I see music is different. Then the internet happend and I started to understand when info of the, "syn," started its access. I hate the number five because I smell peas.
@DaringSprinter I’m so curious to know more about this other universe. Do you know how you got to this one and was it Mandela type effects that brought you to this conclusion?
@VaniRae31: Ah, no, it's not that literal.
Think of the world some normal kids live in—a world with a magical man who can fly all around the world in a single night. That's not reality, right? But the kids think it's real. It's the world they live in, so far as they know.
My parents just told me a lot more lies, is all. No Santa Claus! I didn't get handed that lie. But I did innocently swallow a whole universe of others.
Edit: If anyone's curious, they can DM me about it. It's involved. Blood magic and spirits of illness and that.
I'm 42 yrs old and still have a baby tooth lol
Easy E's aunt was our next-door neighbor.
@DaveTheBrit can you come help me find some of the things I have misplaced across my house? 😅
@Finn2018 would that place on tv be in the sports world? Just a guess 😘
I snort when I laugh. Sometimes, my snort is so funny it makes me laugh and snort more, causing a chain reaction of snort laughing that is hard to get out of once it starts lol
@cuddlebunnycici You would be correct.
I met a live human cannibal once.
@MxSmith: Now, that's interesting. As a regular diet, or was it more of a one-time thing? (If the second, I'm guessing they didn't have anything on hand to share.)
@DaringSprinter from what I know it was part of a ritual, but I'm not sure how often it happened. It happened enough that she joked with her 13 children that they were also cannibals because she would eat human flesh when she was pregnant (This was in rural Papua New Guinea). Cannibalism is illegal in PNG; however its part of their culture and the law of the land has not even been translated into all the dialects spoken there. There are 3 reasons they eat human flesh in PNG 1. To gain an adversary's power. 2. To keep a deceased family member's spirit in the family. 3. As a snacc. Meeting her was certainly one of the most interesting experiences of my life.
@MxSmith: Huh! Well, meat is meat, and as long as you stick to muscle I gather there's not much chance of kuru. I wouldn't say no to a snacc. What a neat experience meeting her must have been! I'm glad this thread got started and you commented in it. Thanks for sharing!
Also, she beat my mom by three kids.
I’ve never eaten meat, and I used to compete in video game tournaments in the early 2000’s. So fun!
@carrieanne I never knew what that was until now, so I guess I have it!
I remember everything in pictures. I imagine everything in pictures. If I'm reading a book, I know what everyone looks like, and their houses, cars, jobs, etc. I can remember spots in the woods based on a certain tree.
I just thought I had a vivid imagination. Thanks lol!
I'm part deaf in my right ear!
My first ever tattoos at age 18 were LOVE and HATE knuckle tattoos, most of the time I forget they are there. My last manager told me he loved my “prison tattoos” 😂😂.
@SunsetSnuggles I believe my left thumb is also double-jointed and I also have no tattoos.
@achetocuddle That is part of the reason I joined here, and it's helped a lot. Also I too enjoy the smell of an extinguished candle. Though not as much as I used to when younger.
Something else to share is I think I have tinnitus from going to too many metal concerts without earplugs lol. Probably wasn't the smartest thing especially the times where I was literally right in front of the big loud speakers. Guess I thought it would sound too muffled, but now I don't go as often as I used to and I ALWAYS wear my earplugs.
I'm not ticklish at all, which puts me at an advantage in tickle fights.
@MxSmith does it count if it’s the placenta?
@VaniRae31 https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/10/17/im-not-entirely-sure-he-knows-what-that-is#
@VaniRae31 I'm not well versed in the nuances of cannibalism, but I'd say if you consume any part of another human that qualifies as cannibalism.
@zerocantaloupe : 🤣 they have comics for anything these days bahaha.
@TxTom : Interesting, I’ve never done it but I do know someone who had theirs dried and turned into to daily vitamins.
@VaniRae31 @TxTom This is interesting. If a person eats fingernails (ick), even if it's someone elses (really ick), that would not be cannibalism. Of course, placenta is very different from nails.
@TxTom "nuances of cannibalism" That's hilarious.
