I hope there comes a day where...

someone sees me and remembers me, without having to pay

  • Same bro, same

  • I want to be the person someone chooses to see when they need to decompress...

  • @TruePower What a sweetheart you are. I would cuddle your heart out if I were in Canada! 🇨🇦

  • Wanting that is .... I was going to say 'half the battle' but that's not right. Wanting somebody to see you are remember you means wanting to rejoin the human race; and caring about that means that you're on the up. It means that you are not on the bottom, and what's more you're thinking about reaching the surface. This is good.

On a technical level, achieving it is relatively easy because there are numerous ways it can be done. I say 'technical' because doing such things are difficult or impossible for some people. If you think you can't manage it, try anyway. No harm in having a go.

    • Join a church or other religious thing, sit in the same seat every week, and talk back to anybody who talks to you. You do not have to believe whatever it is they believe.

    • Join a support group suitable to your type of 'stuff'

    • Volunteer in some regular way. Do Tuesday afternoons at the charity shop/soup kitchen/whatever. Clean the toilets at your local heritage railway. The shittier the job you do, the more pleased people will be to see you.

    • If modest funds are available then do a pottery class or something like that. Pick something convenient and interesting to you.

In the meantime, be a regular, kind and worthwhile poster on this forum. It's not the same because it's not in person, but it's a start.

  • Sorry, this weekend is particularly hard on me >.<

  • TruePower this weekend is hard for me as well. I go in my basement and listen to music, trying to keep myself busy. There’s a sigh of relief when I get to Sunday evening.

I have tried to not feel isolated being alone on Thanksgiving. However, the whole U.S. pretty much shuts down and the internet goes quiet.

be kind, be gentle, be polite, be supportive, the list goes on and on...

    @CuddleDuncan
That was a really well thought out post. Nice work and thank you

  • I hope there comes a day where...

...I feel like I belong somewhere and not just "being" somewhere.

  • @TruePower I hate that you feel so alone. It looks like you have gotten some great advice. Reaching out to family and friends if you can, might be a good start. Sometimes it is easier to strengthen emotional connections you already have then to create new ones.

That being said..... I have to say I hope there comes a day when people don't make references that insinuates not liking that pro cuddlers charge to help people decompress.

@KamikaziNinja86 I understand that feeling in a real way and have been where you are at many times in my life

  • @pty1999 you misunderstand, i gladly pay for a service I want, and expect someone to charge for something they're good at!
But then there's me not wanting it as a service (and I wasn't referring to a pro neither) but as a true reciprocated longing.

  • @TruePower I apologize. Thank you for helping me to have a better understanding. Keep your head up and continue reaching out. There are many out there with that same longing who would love to reciprocate that I am sure

  • @TruePower I will be sending good vibes your way

  • @TruePower I just want to empathize and say feeling lonely and unseen is a tough, tough place to be. I’m sorry you are there.

Are you in a place where you want to start taking action on this? Or are you in the be in your feelings phase? (Both are valid) Just don’t want suggest action steps if you aren’t ready to be on the action phase. :)

  • @TruePower I think most pros really do want their clients to find someone in their lives to fill that void. Most are happy when their clients no longer need to see them . Good luck to you .

  • @Jkay joining CC marked the end of my 'feelings' phase, and I have since begun my upward climb to try and meet and connect with people.
I've lived a profoundly isolated life, and up until very recently, I was absolutely content with it.

Suffice to say, I have no "plan" other then work hard at the gym, and smile more.

  • @TruePower I think you're taking the right approach and just need to keep at it. Working on self-improvement and being content with just yourself is a good foundation to build on. I'd bet that a lot of people wouldn't actually know how to be happy while being alone, so you're already ahead in that regard.

Your happiness and building confidence will do the rest of the work. Just hang in there and don't forget to acknowledge and appreciate the progress you make along the way.

  • @SnoCapsPerhaps that is a wonderful perspective and advice!
