I found this really atmospheric mix of Carol of the Bells and Veni Veni only recently. I would appreciate your favourite festive recommendations especially some less well known songs. All of the classics are welcome as well ☃️
Love a bit of Fairytale of New York, even if it’s not exactly obscure. Gutted to find out that NYPD don’t actually have a choir
I’ll throw in Christmas in Hollis as an extra
Linus and Lucy.
@WriterGF I’d never heard this, but if this is the one, I like it
@pmvines Run DMC, Ramones very nice. Corey Taylor track might grow on me
@LondonHug Yup, that's it.
@Mike403 😏
Here's one from Weird Al. I went to this concert for some reason.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen https://g.co/kgs/42KpgD
Bare Naked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan
@mike403 There’s a Weird Al film out that I am meaning to watch
@SoftlySquishy nice, another I had never heard. As a bonus, the YouTube algorithm recommended The Piano Guys

Can't forget what's probably my favorite Trans-Siberian Orchestra song - Wizards in Winter:
Thanks @CSnMUS87 that’s quite a list, will keep me going for some time. Pretty much every one is new to me
@JasonCuddles the pathos and dark humour put me in mind of Bad Santa
How about a French Christmas Carol?
Love this scene in Gremlins, where Johnny Mathis is reinterpreted from uplifting to something altogether more dark and ominous
@FunCartel another extensive alternative list, thank you. Making me realise just how limited the standard Christmas playlists typically are
I love the original and this cover.
I like Gesu Bambino
and Gabriel's Message
also can't forget this classic:
@zerocantaloupe o…m…g… I completely forgot about the slam remix meme 😂
@Charlie_Bear another excellent song I completely missed, I’ve clearly been living under a rock
@zerocantaloupe nice choices, if we’re going choral. I’ll add
Plus some Last Slam-mas
@FunCartel who knew Annie Lennox sang in French. Bolstering her festive credentials, she was actually born on Christmas Day.
@LondonHug oh wow you had never heard of Linus and Lucy from Charlie Brown? Mind blown you should listen to the whole Charlie Brown Christmas in Spotify by Vince Guaraldi Trio and then all his music!
And here is Laufey from Iceland doing a short acoustic version of The Christmas Waltz, you can find the complete version on Spotify. She’s an amazing new talent!
@Ironman294 vaguely remember some of the cartoons and Snoopy is a prominent character in my mind but the Christmas special and associated music escapes me completely. Planning on watching the whole thing when I get a chance
Interesting article on the respective UK/US holiday TV traditions. Do you get Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman rolled out like clockwork every year? They suggest that is somewhat a UK centric equivalent of the CB Special

Thanks for the Laufey link, beautiful rendition and no gimmicks just acoustic guitar and a high quality vocal
We definitely don’t have Raymond Briggs, I know in Scandinavia they have Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Christmas specials. But over there they call Donald Calle (Carl). I also know Home Alone 2 is a big one over in Europe.
The main theme from The Snowman is practically imprinted on our dna. First two Home Alone movies were/still are massive in the UK
This could easily morph into a Christmas movie thread
