I think I'll start a business where you can pay somebody to "borrow" their lawn so you can push a lawn mower on it.

I have been on rent a friend for years. I get a few requests a year, so it's def different than CC, though the concept is similar. People are definitely more conservative about spending there, but physical touch of any kind is highly discouraged. The bulk of ppl I met were businessmen who travel a lot & don't keep many friends. Usually they just want to be seen with a pretty girl who's easy to talk to. I've also never had someone even attempt to create a physical or sexual connection there, although it was obvious they would have wanted to if the rules weren't so strict, at least in theory. People don't seem to GaF about the rules here on CC, so it's a lot less lucrative on RaF but safer in my experience.
Heh, I have a nice size yard, and now that you mention this, I can think of many apartment dwellers around here who would probably enjoy having a place to hold a cookout, family party, or the like. I wonder what they would pay to rent the yard for the day?

I had a profile there but haven't seen it since pre pandemic. I had great encounters from it! Concerts, city walks, food adventures, museums, etc. It's actually awesome if you happen to meet a well meaning, no agenda, back watching friend (like me) in a huge, intimidating, often dangerous city (like LA). I'm actually trying to do the same in the opposite for my long awaited travels, hoping to find wise and patient friends to graciously correct my grammar and custom in exchange for a few bucks and lunch.

@mike403 i think i agree, there is something disingenuous about being paid to hang with someone same as cuddling. But he’ll the world we live in i guess.
If there was a randomness to the friend selection it might make it better but if the appeal is to feel like you have a friend that you other wise wouldn’t (“out of your league”) makes it muddy. But the same thing happens here. Maybe we should have a friend roulette or cuddle roulette to make it random. It sure would take most of the complaints away.
If you are the friend being rented it is no charge. They don't deduct a percentage either

I guess it could be useful if you want a certain service(like a tour guide). If you just want to talk to someone, go to a bar.
