Question re my 1st time

This was Wednesday. Apparently nobody could see it where I originally posted it.

I had my 1st cuddle session today. I thought it went great. It was in public and lasted about an hour and a half. I had a lot of fun and it seemed she did as well. Now it is hours after the event and I am feeling overly emotional, and i typically do not get emotional. It's not like I regret it, it's more like I feel guilty for enjoying it as much as I did. I feel like I have been needing this connection for a long time. Other than my wife, this is the 1st meaningful conversation I have had in literally decades.

Is any of this normal? (the overly emotional bit) Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar? How did you deal with it?

  • Very normal I have heard, it's the oxytocin crash. Sorry you're experiencing that. 🤗 I haven't personally experienced it, but hopefully others have advice. Maybe wrap up in a cozy blanket and watch a favorite movie, do something comforting like drink some tea, call a friend, etc.

I don't think you have anything to feel guilty about, but cuddling is a niche hobby and can be a bit confusing, in the beginning. You'll find your sea legs. 😊

I have experienced being very emotional after a cuddle session. I do belive there is a crash of oxytocin like sunset said and this is completely normal! The stronger thr connection the bigger the crash. I hope you get more cuddles and keep your levels high! Phone calls help me between sessions- but you don't have to take my word for it. U have to find out what works best for you.

    Edit
Congratulations on your first session! That is very significant! Many people sig up and don't even make it to a first session

  • Yes, very normal. Especially if it's the first time that you've had that touch in a long time. I've had one person cry during our session because the emotions can be so high. Hang in there! Focus on the positive, and do something comforting like Sunset said!

It is fairly common, which is why I advise people to check their emotional balance or else you really do risk being more sad and anxious. Don't rely on it to fix depression etc because it really can run the risk of making it worse if you arent stable and dont have any other means of coping . Good luck and be well

  • Thank you everyone. Your comments really have helped.

The "crash" has passed leaving me a pleasant feeling knowing there is a possibility of future sessions.

  • Just in case you or anyone else would like a list of possibly helpful tips for this situation I have a few!

Water and healthy foods are super important, chocolate, cozy items, comedies and uplifting movies/music, exercise, basically anything that will give you a serotonin/ dopamine bump so you can even out will help!
