Random Professional Solicitation

[Deleted User]squishylilspoon (deleted user)

Hello! Is this normal/appropriate? This is the second time I’ve gotten such an email.

Thank you!

  • I got one this morning. It was my second since I began hanging out here a few months ago. I understand some people are bothered by these but since enthusiasts aren't blowing up my inbox, logging on to a little sum'pn sum'pn in my inbox actually is actually kinda good. Now, if it happened every day, or even a few times a week, I might feel differently.

  • @squishylilspoon
Only if you message a Pro or visit their profile are Pros allowed to directly message you with the intent of soliciting for booking a session. If you didn't message the Pro nor visit their profile, please report them so we can see if this is repeat behavior or at least remind them of the rules they are required to follow.

  • @squishylilspoon - Pros are not supposed to message first unless you've visited their profile and you may be a prospective client in their area. You could always block them. If you're truly bothered, then report/flag them and the Pro may get a reminder about the site rules that they should not send messages to potential clients first.

@homeboy - I like your attitude and perspective. Something to be said for having a little "sum'pn sum'pn" in the inbox.

  • Hi, pro here - I say hi to local people who visit my profile, sometimes even non-locals. I have made quite a few friends here! I want everyone to feel welcome.

  • @squishylilspoon @homeboy if a professional sends you a message and you have not visited their page (or otherwise interacted with them) please Report them immediately. This is not permitted.

For most recipients, including me, this is not a big deal. However, for some more vulnerable people it's an unpleasant and unwelcoming situation. We all want this site to be welcoming to everybody who is willing to be a productive member of the community, which is why it's not allowed.

In most cases the professional concerned is new and doesn't appreciate the potential harm they are doing. They will receive a firm but friendly warning from the mods, and if they don't persist then that will be the end of it.

Professionals are allowed to message for reasons other than soliciting a session. For example, it's fine for a professional to message an enthusiast to follow up on a forum post the the enthusiast made, in the way that anybody might do.

What in the name of Matthew McConaughey's underpants are they thinking!! The nerve !!! I hope that pro finds her place in hell sitting to the side of Satan !!

Nah really though, if you aren't interested just dont respond, or a thanks but no thanks . Its not that deep jabroney . Otherwise go full Karen and report them to the manager. Lord knows they dont have anything better to sift through ....

  • I will say that my first week as a pro, I mistakenly messaged a few people in my general area. I had read through the terms when first joining, but in complete honesty, I didn't remember that part. I had a return message from one person stating they don't cuddle with pros and he blocked me. I felt a little offended at first, but I've since learned better. We may not immediately memorize all the terms, but that doesn't negate our responsibility. I would never do that now, but I do sometimes message people who have visited my profile.

Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.

  • I never reply to messages unless it's somebody I've interacted with before in the forums. I feel like it's either a scammer or a pro trying to solicit me for business.

  • I think random solicitation is going to happen on most sights. I believe it makes more sense on this sight if it is for cuddles. That being said....I would think it would be weird if they don't live close to you. I also think it is an indicator that they are new or having a hard time keeping and getting individuals to want their cuddle services. You are on the internet, on a sight that is also international and open for anyone to join without an ID. If random professionals solicitating blows your mind, hold on to your britches, baby, it's going to be a wild ride.

@CuddleDuncan if someone is that vulnerable then that might be valuable information to find out. You may want to think about talking to them and having information and resource available to give them positive encouragement to seek out mental health services. I am a social worker and have worked for 20 years in family advocacy, victim's advocacy, and crisis counseling. A vulnerable person can mean a lot of things. A person who becomes emotionally distraught and can't rationalize that they can simply ignore and delete unwanted messages received has little self-control over their emotions. In all actuality the vulnerable person could potentially show that lack of self-control in a cuddle session and cause harm to the person they chose to cuddle with.

Just giving my very generalized viewpoint as a mental health professional. I'm not advocating for professionals to solicitate. I stay too busy to solicitate plus I've never ran into a problem where I messaged someone, and they weren't very happy that I did and welcoming.

Maybe the site needs a news feed for people to use to reach out to people (solicitating) on. Maybe replace the random pictures of who is online. I think it would class up the joint. Always love hearing the websites point of view on things. I find this site very intriguing with a slight hint of adventure.

  • I personally don’t mind at all when I’ve been contacted by a pro after viewing their profile. When I first got here, one messaged me that I’m unable to see, I made that clear in my reply and then actually struck up a conversation about this world because I was so new to it. The thing that I’ve noticed (maybe I’m just lucky), is that the pros are more than willing to answer questions to help a new enthusiast learn about the process, expectations, experiences, etc. which I think makes it better for all of us.

  • I personally don’t mind having a professional reach out to me. In fact I didn’t know it was part of their agreement with CC. But I can appreciate the policy, and that not everyone has the same comfort level with that.

It might be worth examining some kind of profile tool where members can opt in or opt out for solicitations from professional cuddlers. That way people who would prefer to initiate contact can be clear about that.

  • I've personally never done it but I think it's kinda crazy to assume that someone doing that have malicious intent at this point I don't even want to be a pro because it seems like where critiqued alot when it could just be a honest human mistake in every day life if someone gives you a business card or flyer you have the option of taking it or ignoring it but reporting ppl for offering platonic cuddling is alot

@DeathbyChocolat and @pmvines I absolutely echo what you each have to say. My goodness.

@pty1999 I totally agree maybe they to have a super pro who has a degree or doctorate to help those who need a therapist because if youre that vulnerable how can I help you

  • I don't mind at all. I've cuddled with pros who've reached out to me first. It makes me feel more comfortable sending a message back. If their first message directly asks when I can schedule a session, I feel pressured, but I'm still not bothered by these kinds of messages either, as these types of messages are allowed, as long as I atleast visited their profile.

  • It’s no big deal at all. It’s kinda nice to have messages waiting. If I don’t wanna talk to them I won’t. I feel no need to report them, if they send me more than one and j haven’t answered perhaps I will block. Much like in these forums unless something is a personal attack that includes a racial slur I don’t flag or complain about the post. People who are on this site should definitely be chill. Constant reporting and flagging makes me think of grade school with snitching 🤣🤣🤣

  • I truly feel bad for anyone so broken that receiving a message in their inbox from a stranger would cause a breakdown. The last place someone like that should be is the internet, let alone cuddle comfort. God help them when they check their email's spam folder.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

I respond to anyone who messages me, even if it's just to say I'm not available right now. I appreciate their taking the time to write.

  • As I've said in previous posts on this subject -- I wish enthusiasts had an "opt-in" checkbox on our profile -- i.e. "It's okay for professionals to contact me first."

I don't mind when pros reach out, especially if they're going to be in my area. I've added language to my profile to that effect, and I'll never report a pro for contacting me first unless they start harassing or spamming me.

But a polite "Hello, how are you finding the cuddling world so far?" or a "Hey, I see you're in this city and I'm going to be nearby next month, just wanted to let you know" is never a problem for me. As @homeboy said, it's nice to see the inbox get a little action once in a while. =)

@MichelleW yeah , I personally used to fly into an uncontrollable rage when that would happen but now I direct my anger towards more important things, like close to expired meat not being discounted at the grocery store, or when my coffee is served 3 degrees less than the optional temperature. That shit will make me punch a dolphin in the face

  • @pmvines not the dolphins!!! 🐬

  • I suspect he might have been referring to the dolphin fish, otherwise known as Mahi Mahi. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, of course!

  • edited January 2023

Or one of the football players? They could probably take a punch to the face

  • @Cinephile77 @Lisa123 nope the majestic hornless narwhals. Their time in the spotlight as the darlings of the ocean must end

  • edited January 2023

But what will take the spotlight as the new darling of the ocean? 🦑 🐙 🐳 🦈 🧜‍♀️

  • Toss up between red octopus and mako shark, with the blob fish not far behind

Just for the record. I welcome messages from people. Blow up my inbox. It gives me something to do besides look at the squirrels run in the street or the geese fly around. I will probably respond also.
You have my word as a human being that sliding into my CMs is not a problem with me. That way I can know you exist and check out your profile. Believe it or not I have learned a lot in a short time of being here from peoples well written pages.
So as long as the mods dont get upset with me. You have my approval.

  • @pmvines - I haven't had such a good laugh in weeks. I'm not even going to attempt to match your degree of sarcasm.

I really don't understand the need for either this thread, or for the rule that prohibits random solicitation by pros. I hereby, issue an invitation to all women, regardless of location, pro or otherwise, to message me whenever you so desire. Since this post can be taken as a solicitation, you won't have to worry about being in violation of any rules.

On a slow week (as most weeks are), your message will be an appreciated change from receiving no messages at all. I (almost) certainly won't be inclined to request a booking, but I do count several pro women among my friends. None of them are close enough to meet up with, but I (and I assume they) enjoy our conversations.
