Anyway, reminder: “Givers have to set limits because takers rarely do." - Henry Ford.
Ah Henry Ford. America’s greatest anti-Semite and misogynist. He used to inspect the homes of his workers to make sure their wives were not working outside the home and keeping their home clean. They say Ford is the only American Hitler ever complimented. Ford was a taker.
@FunCartel Damnnn, okay. The point still stands though.
@Lovelight, sure, everyone is allowed to set limits on what they’re willing to put up with. But if a pro is feeling hurt by cancellations, they need to check in with themselves and examine whether their ego should be as heavily invested. I’m not a robot or a cuddle vending machine, I have feelings, but as a pro, clients’ feelings are my focus.
These threads, with its collective wisdom and kindnesses, are some of the reasons I continue to be impressed by this community.
@BellaSera I guess, though I'm sure there are limits even if doing so as a profession, cause some people do abuse it and what that limit is could vary from person to person. And even if not done to abuse, it could be harmful to the person it's being done to. Though this isn't my area anyway so can't really comment much on it.
Thanks, @Sideon !
Just to clarify, I didn’t mean for this thread to just be about clients postponing bookings with pros or vice versa; the question applies to enthusiasts as well.
And to clarify, I’m not calling out @nurturingman man. I have mad respect for his hustle. Just a soapbox item for me.
Eh-Gads... I guess I'm fortunate that I've cuddled with someones who were flexible and understanding. My life is so chaotic at times, like it's never just one thing. When stuff goes wrong it's a mess of things all at once.
It could just be the title pros does not equal professional. Is there a multiple hour training that a pro has to go through to become a professional?
@BgstickTeddyBea Cuddle Comfort doesn’t require pros to undergo any training or certification, but you can take trainings with other organizations that will take you about 36 to 40 hours to complete.
I will go to great lengths to accommodate people, so it is important to me to know they are respecting my time as I will their’s. I understand your frustration. I think you just have to go with your gut on each individual.
@BgstickTeddyBea there are no formal requirements to become a professional cuddler. This site has various rules, and the application process includes the question "why do you want to be a professional cuddler?" Most applications are rejected.
However, there are a number of reputable training courses available in both the US and UK, some of them quite demanding. Passing is not guaranteed.
A background in a suitable caring profession, together with some good reading and - most importantly - thoughtfulness about what it all involves, is a very good substitute for a training course. As is significant experience.
Depends. I'm pretty lenient
I think, considering the day and age that we live in one or two would be somewhat normal, considering how everybody is so busy and lots of stuff sometimes happens unexpectedly but once you hit three then I think it’s time to move on
Umpty dozen is a little too many.
Since the thread is 2 yrs old , I'd say as many as you can fit into a 2 yr time span?
@lonelytauros Once is happenstance Twice is coincidence The third time it's enemy action
@CuddleDuncan, Just as in baseball, three strikes, you're out. It's what is behind the postponement. Good communication is the key for me.
@pmvines maybe this thread got postponed 😂😂😂
Let’s just say I hate resurrections of all kinds. Hahaha. Didn’t realize how old the thread was. Edit: This was a joke. I'm okay with a few reschedules.
@nurturingman I had four postponements with one cuddler. Finally we had our initial session and it was great. We had many more after that.
When someone cancels and reschedules an appointment with me multiple times it shows that they have no respect for my time. Or maybe someone who has control over their time has no respect for their commitments. When you make an appointment with someone that is a commitment. You should try to honor your commitments unless it's truly unavoidable like an illness or car accident. Things along that nature.
I've had multiple postponements with someone on here, and we still haven't been able to connect... Two were due to illness, one was due to family emergency, one was due to work... I can see how it can be frustrating, but life happens. 🤷♀️
