Finally got COVID after avoiding it the past few years.

It feels like a minor cold, not really coughing all that much. Out of curiosity, I used a rapid test then used another one when I got a positive result.

  • Aww that sucks, I'm sorry! Maybe you'll just get it lightly. It knocked me on my booty for a week and a half when I finally got it, last year. Nothing serious, but just utterly draining and sick as heck. Hope yours stays minor! Keep warm and drink, drink, drink! 💧

  • It's so good that you got it now and not when the first strain was dominant. These new strains are less serious thankfully.

  • @Melancholy - There was also social distancing and mask wearing then. I go to so many concerts now, I knew I would bound to be exposed to it at some point.

  • I'm in the medical field from RI and living in FL since July. Positive or negative results almost mean less than symptoms. If you are (or have been) symptomatic within 5 days you are considered contagious.

Screening questions before we let someone into the office pertain to the last 5 days:
    -Known COVID exposure
    -Temp over 100.3
    -Chills
    -Cough
    -Muscle/body aches
    -Sore throat
    -Shortness of breath
    -Loss of taste/smell

  • I work from home and I still have the energy to do my job.

  • Happy its not too bad for you @Mike403 I got it after Thanksgiving and it was hell. Rapid was negative bc it was a "low positive". If not I feel like I would've actually died. I went for a walk that Saturday thinking it was just a sore throat and I wasn't able to breathe. Stopped driving bc how weak I would feel at the wheel stuck behind those that drive under 40mph. Still had taste but I didn't care bc I didn't have energy to even think about food lol was so angry felt murderous 😅 worst of all couldn't be cuddled 🥲

  • Thanks for showing us your positive Covid test. Lol. I’m sure everyone would’ve believe you anyways

Oof, glad ur ok. As far as I know I haven't gotten yet either.

  • COVID ain’t bad. Yeah, you’ll be sick for a week with fevers and stuff but you get to stay home and stay in bed. Can watch movies or read books. I listened to audio books for the first time. It’s pretty relaxing actually. Like a little vacation.

  • @dave31415 I know, right? I binged all the Twilight movies, bahaha. 🧛🏻💫🐺

  • Well, hmmm, we have had members here on CC that were put on ventilators for months and still need to be on oxygen due to severe lung damage from covid. 😢

  • I never got that sick and still was able to work due to working from home. I am fully vaccinated and boosted. Not sure if that has anything to do with my symptoms being nearly non-existent.

  • The new variants continue to be weaker. The first two were very deadly. The vaccines have in effect thinned out the deadlier strains. But even the new ones kill the immunocompromised and the older. Just putting it into perspective. COVID is not a black and white illness. Things change in real time but many people seem to think that the Covid of today is what it has always been and that is simply not true.

  • Good to hear @Mike403 👍

@OhioMike yep. When you personally know people younger and healthier than you who spent weeks in the ICU followed by months of hospital recovery and rehab and had to learn how to perform basic living activities again it definitely makes it more real and serious . Regardless of the variant.

  • Hey @pmvines 🖐 yeah... we both know the CC member and the fight they put up and still fighting! So just wanted to say that for some Covid was /is bad! and that it hits home to our community in some real personal ways.

  • I'm sure I caught mine at a concert I was at the weekend prior.

@OhioMike exactly. I am very glad for those who catch it and are minimally affected. Definitely a good thing and I would never wish them any different. I just think we need to not ever forget exactly how life threatening this can be . I personally know people who have died or had their lives altered as a direct result of having Covid, some being not the stereotypes of who you might think of being at risk too. Just luck of the draw sometimes. Move forward with optimism and hope , but never forget.

  • @pmvines I definitely agree with your words and thoughts here. We have had similar experiences and I am all about the optimism and hope. With all that has happened last few years it is challenging to even think about forgetting.
