@curiousgeorge Thanks for the note. I had lunch one Sunday after church on an earlier visit. I did southern style T The Coop in Winter Park today. I’m on the North end, so I’m closer to Winter Park, or in Orlando I go up and down Colonial Dr and Mills Av where the various Asian cuisines are standard. Do you Pho?

@DeliMan - Those Reese's cookies are just obscene. I am afraid I am going to have to confiscate those sir. Yes, all of them.... ;-) LOL

  • [Deleted User]DeliMan (deleted user)

@SJSpooner do you need an address where to confiscate them from? LOL

  • I may beat all of you to those cookies, they look amazing

Thanks to everyone for those compliments. It has been almost a year since I did much baking or cooking.

I used to love cooking and baking for my wife. When she passed away in May it took a lot of the pleasure out of it. I am just now getting back into doing a bit of both. (Disclaimer. Not including the fact that I do cook for a living)

  • Homemade B&C burritos . No canned beans for me !!

  • Turkey sandwich with mayo on rye. Nothing at all fancy lol, just have a few slices of cold cuts that need to either be eaten or thrown outside to the critters

  • Big delicious salad and buffalo chicken stuffed sweet potatoes.

  • Fettuccine alfredo & chicken.

  • Fried pork chops, with sourdough bread fried in the drippings. YUM!

  • Butternut squash soup made with coconut milk and ginger. Pan broiled ribeye with mushrooms and onions plus spinach, arugula and red bell peppers. Meritage Napa red to round it all out.

Bow tie pasta with Scallops in a Garlic Parmesan sauce

  • @Deliman - That looks magnificent!!!

First course: stuffed mushroom with pancetta and mozzarella. Prosciutto wrapped dates.
Soup: Corn soup with chicken stock and vermouth.
Salad: Radicchio with burrata and Calabrian peppers
    First course: Salt broiled prawns.
Second course: Oven roasted salmon with shallots, corn and spinach.

    Wine 2011 Far Niente chardonnay.

Dessert: Dark Swiss Chocolate from a local shop.

I over cooked the salmon, but the rest was good.

The weather recently has been summer like, although winter corn doesn't really have what it takes to make a decent soup.

I am swooning and salivating down here in San Jose! I had salmon this evening as well - but nothing like yours. Burrata... mmmmmm :-)

  • @SJSpooner: I stole the recipe for that salad from a restaurant in Santa Cruz; La Posta.

  • Potato and leek soup.
Filet tails that the butcher gave me at a significant discount. Cooked the whole 1.2 lb piece while bacon wrapped. Finished under the broiler. Served under onions, spinach and red bell pepper.
Raspberry sorbet with lemon zest and Cointreau for dessert.

Served with a 2016 field blend of Barbera, Zinfandel and Syrah.

  • Butter Chicken Curry and Stuffed indian bread, with Red Wine ;-)

  • Arroz Con Pollo

  • Wow. I have to read this before getting groceries. Next time!

Steak pie, balsamic peas for tonight.
