Anime to cuddle to?

[Deleted User]RaveHeart (deleted user)

First and foremost, I should say I'm really not huge on anime, but all my friends are into it so it would be inevitable that I would watch some eventually. Lately I've been watching Mushi-shi and it's a pleasant slow-burn, atmospheric and poetic anime with gorgeous scenery and a meditative pace. I've found myself catching ASMR quite a few times watching it. I feel like Mushi-shi is a perfect anime to cuddle up with someone and watch.

Do any of you feel the same way about any anime you've seen?

    LOL! If you want long series for multiple cuddle sessions. ONE PIECE! :D

    If you want something short, I recommend checking out all the Ghibli movies to start. My fav is Spirited Away.

    @SunsetSnuggles awww you are just delightful 😄 I'd love to meet you one day. And you can catch Mushi-shi on Hulu.

    @SivaSky the Ghibli movies do look pleasant to cuddle to!

    I don’t really watch it much though I do from time to time. I think the last I watched was Hi Score Girl and Kotaro Lives Alone (Netflix.) Oh and Ghost Stories (Amazon Prime) cause that dub is something else 😂

    I was also told I need to watch Castlevania. I love the games so I am sure I’d like the show.

    @SivaSky
    I loooooove Studio Ghibli. The last one I watched was Grave of the Fireflies when they did a theatrical run (just before covid I think.) I had seen it before but that is such a heartbreaking movie. My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away are my favs.

    @Charlie_Bear OMG. Grave of the fire flies made me cried! EVERY TIME!
    If you haven't seen "Whisper of the heart" That movie made me cried too, so inspirational!

  • @SivaSky
    Oh I have heard of it but I haven’t seen it, so I’ll have to fix that ☺️

    @Charlie_Bear Such a beautiful movie! It took up a space in my heart for sure.
    my top 3
    1. Spirited Away
    2. My Neighbor Totoro
    3. Whisper of the Heart

    @Charlie_Bear
    Castlevania has a character I’m DYING to cuddle with. If you watch it and figure out who it is, I’ll give you 10 cuddle credits, fully redeemable for up to 3 years from today!

    Also hi @RaveHeart ! Nice to see you still kicking around!

    I absolutely loved “Oremonogatari”, it made me feel very squishy and soft. It’s an incredibly sweet love story, if you like that sort of thing.

    “Kotaro Lives Alone” is on Netflix, not sure what the genre is. It’s both sad and funny, with really likeable characters.

    And I found “Fairytail” to be an amazing story about the power of friendship and community. Pretty sappy, but I like it x3

    “Demon Slayer” is a hero’s journey and a story of familial love, also on Netflix.

    And these are just off the top of my head ~

  • OH!!
    “Thermae Roma” on Netflix is hilarious and very entertaining.

    But yeah, I’d have to agree that Ghibli movies are probably some of the most atmospheric.

    Top 3 off the top of my head:

    • Castle In The Sky
    • Spirited Away
    • Howl’s Moving Castle

    Also!:

    • Kiki’s Delivery Service
    • Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind
    • The Secret Life of Arriety

    @Charlie_Bear GHOST STORIES!!! Love me some Ghost Stories! I have it on DVD because I just needed a physical copy of it.

    Hey @EarthlyAngel003 ! Indeed I'm still around here 😊 I hope you've been well.

    @craM 😳

  • I cuddled recently to Legend of Vox Machina.. that was certainly different 🤣

  • @EarthlyAngel003
    Oh you got yourself a deal! Hahaha

    @RaveHeart
    I haven’t laughed as hard at a show as I have with Ghost Stories 😂😂😂

  • I also agree that the Studio Ghibli movies are wonderful to cuddle to. I have the entire collection and love them all but I'd have to say my top three are:
    1. Princess Mononoke
    2. Spirited Away
    3. Castle in the Sky (Laputa)

    The music itself by composer Joe Hisaishi is out of this world!

    As far as anime series, I really enjoyed Ouran Host Club and Food Wars! 😊

  • @RaveHeart You are a special strand of wonderful. I would be thrilled to meet you, one day. 😌

    Not anime, but I recently did a movie theater cuddle to Knock at the Cabin. 😁 Talk about an intense, emotionally brutal, morally deep movie to have a sweet first cuddle to! 😂 But I had a great time with an awesome cuddle friend! 😊

    OMG I would have never thought of Food Wars being on this list but I can yeah @bekah_cuddles has a point. I would also add lighthearted titles like Fairytale and Strikewitches.

  • is feverishly adding to his Netflix queue

  • I think slice of life animes would be the best go tos for cuddles.

  • I agree with some of you and say that Ghibli and other feel-good, non-violent, funny, or slice-of-life anime would be my favorite for this. FLCL, Cromartie High School (some of the humor is kind of outdated though), Ping Pong the Animation, and my best recommendation would be Polar Bear Cafe.
