For all of you that aren't familiar with the many health benefits, cuddling can increase oxytocin in the brain, responsible for creating deep connections and regulating serotonin, the mood chemical. The reward center, dopamine, plus down regulating the nervous system while increasing immune activation.
Humans require connection, love and understanding. Compassion and empathy go hand in hand as well. There have been multiple studies including the early 20th century study (1920s-1930s) where they divided the two Nurses on staff at a local orphanage in Russia. One Nurse who cuddled, comforted and spoke to the infants while the other who provided basic care without any human touch other than cleaning &feeding.
Over 70% of the infants being cared for with the non-touch Nurse died within 3 years due to poor wound healing, poor immune system response, malnutrition (inability to digest and absorb the same nutrition given to the other half of the infants in the study) .
The other half thrived and had less than 10% incidence of death, illness and relating factors.
Among many other studies, science proves rhe power of human connection, touch and comfort. Love truly heals all. In this strange post covid world we must do everything in our power to set an example of courage, open minde
dness, non judgement, understanding and reception of kindness and love. These services in most cases are game changers for those struggling with health issues, loneliness, pain, anxiety, insomnia and poor mood stability.********
