Human touch is necessary for life

How many times have you felt depressed, cold, lonely and utterly useless?
I think we all go through tough times mentally, but human touch, compassion and understanding are just as important as food, water and exercise. Studies have shown it boosts immune systems by up to 20%...speeds up wound healing and creates vibratory energy frequency radiating up to three meters around the body.
We were literally put here on Earth to learn, love and develop our energetic bodies through opening minds and hearts. Ever been around someone that just made your heart flutter?
Yeah. We ALL need a lil love.

  • Love this and love your profile. I’m thinking about getting Reiki certified!!

  • In school I learned about sets of baby monkeys that were born and one set was deprived of touch and the other was not. I believe the set that wasn’t touched died shortly even though the feedings and etc was the same as the touched monkeys. Touch is very important.

"How many times have you felt depressed, cold, lonely and utterly useless?""

Pretty much my whole life. At this point I think I've just about given up on forming any meaningful connections with people and the feeling is much more freeing for some reason.

@Coarser546 , Sir, i've been there. It feels less stressful to stop beating your head against a wall and accept that something just isn't going to happen. And in the short term, that works. But it's a trap. Wait too long in that space and you will likely discover that it was both necessary and possible, and you wasted a lot of time. Roast me for being silly if you wish. But please take it to heart.

this is why I wish there were more enthusiasts out there. I don't always have the cash to book a pro and I would love to be able to cuddle more than I do now. And I can tell you know that the pros need to cuddle just as much as we do. And don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking pros, just echoing the sentiment that we all need human touch.

@MrAdmirer , We all need it. The numerical imbalance is probably because some find it easier to get their needs met than others.

    @1_teddybear supply and demand...I get it....haha.

  • @Tigerlilly32 That was Harlow’s Experiment and it was several monkeys that were taken from their mother. The experiment was not about touch but about child-maternal connections. He could not replicate the same results in adult Rhesus monkeys like he did with babies. And only some of the monkeys he isolated died once they were reintroduced into their society by not eating.

While the experiment led to some results that sparked further research, some have said the removal of the babies from their mother was more about that trauma and PTSD than it was about touch or connection. So the experiment has flaws, but it was never about touch because some refused touch even when it was offered after integration. It was about paternal bonds and isolation.

Human touch is considered a privilege, rather than a right, so it’s up to us to acquire it and others reciprocate.

I do think that a certain amount of cuddling is necessary for peak health. But so is having friends and many other things like that. Here’s a link : https://www.forbes.com/sites/tracybrower/2023/03/07/maximize-mental-health-with-a-few-good-friends-heres-how/?sh=527f3d6062fd

That said I do feel badly for those that can’t find what they are looking for. It isn’t fair, but it is what it is

  • As someone who just cannot afford consistent human touch, I feel this post.

It might be necessary for child development, but it isn’t necessary for life.

Or, at least, hasn’t been necessary for me for the last six years.

Yeah id say the same thing

  • It’s been nearly a decade. Somehow I’m still alive.
