Thoughts about the pitch clock, shift rules, and bigger bases so far.

Honestly, I have been pleasantly impressed by the pitch clock, and I have really enjoyed the occasional drama and chaos while players and umpires get used to it.

The shift rules seem to have little effect, so far.

Bigger bases is whatever.

But, the running game is back, from a combination of the “two pick off attempt” rule and the bigger bases, so that is a welcome and exciting change.

    Haven’t really had a chance to decide yet but not to change the topic, the play in tournament in the NBA is annoying.

    ⚾️ ⚾️ ⚾️ love this game. Really enjoying the new rules especially the pitch clock which has totally changed the flow. I’ve been to 2 games so far. Took grandkids for first time 😊

    Interesting thing about the pitch clock is that if you go back to the 1913 rulebook, umpires were supposed to keep pitchers and batters from delaying the game. As for the shift, I have definitely seen hits that would have been outs last year. It's stunning to see that in 2022, the average was four minutes between balls in play - that's way too long.

    I agree.

    To grow the game it needed to be shortened, and that “dead time” stuff is easiest to curtail by rule.

    On the radio the other day I heard the announcer go “bottom of the 3rd and 7 seconds left “. Wait ? What ? 😂😂😂

    I didn't favor the rule changes, but they are growing on me. Go Braves!
