Hey there! I recently went to an aviation musuem and my photographer pointed out that this airplane is from top gun the movie, is this true?

@uxecud I am a beginner and just learning little by little. I am no expert and would LOVE to learn more about the aviation world. Is that a remake of the Wright flyer? Please correct me if I am wrong and I genuinely want to learn more.
If you're ever in Ohio, definitely check out the air force museum in dayton. Multiple hangers full of planes everything from wright flyer to modern fighters.

@CuddleBarista1 yes, you nailed it - that is a full-scale exact replica of the Wright Flyer.
@CuddleBarista1 the second pic is the P-51 "Mustang" like the type in the movie "Top Gun: Maverick."

I'm surprised there's not an active Train Pictures thread going. Here's my latest plane selfie.
As a kid I used to go by this place on the daily in the 2 1/2 years we lived in Tucson. The Boneyard of the Military:
in my experience the two most astonishing aircraft to see up close in person are the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom and the Avro Vulcan.
I won't post a picture of the Phantom, pictures simply do not do it justice. If you ever get the chance to go and see one - take it. (They are very common, there are dozens on display in the US.)
As for the Vulcan .... probably not very well known in the US other than its appearance in the James Bond film Thunderball. The American equivalent is the B-52. Its honours include what was then the longest range bombing mission ever accomplished, with a direct hit on Port Stanley airport runway in the Falklands Conflict 1982.
@CuddleBarista1 yes. The aircraft in your photo looks like an F-14 Tomcat, and that is indeed the type of aircraft that Maverick and Goose flew in the original Top Gun. Did you know that its wings can moved in flight? From kind of sticking out sideways (for going slowly) to being swept right back (for going fast).
Are we aloud to post pictures of our own airplane?
This is the plane that brought me and probably thousands of others home from Vietnam. I'm still wondering what plane it was.
@CuddleDuncan totally agree with you on the McDonald Douglas F4 phantom a truly impressive Jet the others that I like are the B1 lancer and the SR 71 blackbird is truly a sight to behold
@GreatHornedOwl your mystery plane is most likely a C-118, a.k.a. DC-6, judging from the time period, it being an aircraft with four radial engines, and the carburetor air intake on the far outboard engine (#1 engine) which is different than the DC-7.

The one with teeth is a P40 Warhawk, the green is a T6, I got to fly both. The silver is a B17, WW-II bomber, the blue bi-wing. I got to ride in them both The white and red I owned, Cessna 172, a great flying plane

@CuddleBarista1 i used to and model rockets there was a company called Estes that would make the best ones i’m sure there’s also a lot of people here that are familiar with model rockets
@lonelytauros I used to have a tiny model rocket toy in my house and I LOVE rocket ships and space so much!!!!

@CuddleBarista1 that last photo you posted is a Mig-17 from the Soviet Union. It has a vital part in the Top Gun story. It was the success of Mig-17s against supposedly superior US fighters in the Vietnam War that led thr US navy to establish the real Top Gun school. That school was the inspiration for the film.
