Where do you prefer to go on vacation?

edited April 2023 in General

I love both the 🌊 ocean and the 🏔mountains. If I only had one choice though, it would definitely be the beach. Just something about the sound of the water and the sand in my toes, there is nothing like it. What do you prefer?

  • The mountains! I love being out in nature where there aren’t a lot of people

  • Personally I would want to go to a place like Netherlands. A new language and getting to experience their walkable, non-car oriented cities would be nice

  • Traveling overseas, it’s an amazing experience. Especially if you get immersed in the culture, avoid staying around a lot of other American travelers.
YouTube videos about your destination are so helpful before you go.

  • I definitely would love to travel overseas.

    Bora Bora

  • Scotland/Ireland!

  • Scotland has the nicest people ever!

  • I typically just go to Florida because I have a free place to stay. Benefit is the beach is 15 minutes away 😂

  • What’s a vacation?
    :)

  • I have Irish heritage, so definitely would love to go to Ireland and Scotland.

@greggerz very nice!!! Always good to have connections.

@nature700 that makes me so sad 😭. You deserve time to rest. 🤗🤗

  • I just got back from the beach and it was awesome! I live in the mountains which is also awesome.

  • I love Europe. I love Spain- Barcelona ( tapas and wine) and Ibiza or Croatia- Split and Dubrovnik have beautiful beaches

  • I'm a water-gal, I adore the beach for sunrises and sunsets. Definitely have Scotland on my radar for 2024, since one of my BFFs is a native and has lots of travel tips for me. Rumor has it, they have some beautiful waterways there, too!

  • Japan and columbia 🥰

Beach, beach, and uhhh beach 🤣

  • Great Smokey Mountains

  • To hell. That is where we are taking this planet Earth.

  • I’ve been increasingly thinking about being on a nice beach and do nothing.
I also have some crazy ideas like hiking a long trail like the Appalachian or the PCT.

  • @FunCartel I live about 15 minutes from Hell, it freezes over often. Irony: Darwin Road leads to Hell. 😁

  • @Hollydollhugs - thanks - I understand/agree. :)

It would be nice if these responses also had the ideal length of the vacation time too. :) (ha)

  • @nature700 true!!! How long does someone need to travel overseas? My boss just went to Germany and was gone 2 weeks.

For me it’s the mountains, I live in Florida, 15 minutes from the beach but never go unless family or friends visit and they always want to go. My home will always be WV, so I try to go back 1-3 times a year with my RV and motorcycle.

  • Beautiful pictures @waynewv !! 🙂

  • I prefer places I can explore and find cool things to do.
I once went to a wildlife preserve and played with tiger cubs and wolf pups.

I always want to go somewhere there is something to learn, explore or history to walk through.

I enjoy the weird out of the way places that only locals know about and sometimes even try local cuisine. Never had fried green tomatoes, real purple hull peas and turnip greens before visiting the south.

I've been to most of the biggest attractions in all lower 48 states and quite a few of the lesser visited ones. Some where underwhelming and others surprisingly neat.

Pretty much I'm up for going anywhere the crowds are not too big. The upcoming Derby here in town has me dreading the influx of people.

  • I yacht to the Greek Isles in the springtime and charter a private plane to the Swiss Alps in the winter months . I also roll naked in piles of hundred dollar bills and have my own personal ball washer

🤣 @pmvines but you'll settle for a day at the lake fishing?

Can't wait to catch up with you.

  • I'd like to go to Antartica.

  • I spent some of today looking at the passenger trains that have sleeper / suite rooms. Man , that looks so cool 😎

  • Every summer some friends and I pick a new city and take in some baseball in the area. Since we started I've been to 42 states and 200 different ballparks.
