It means they can't message you. It doesn't mean they can't view you

@craM Thanks for responding. It’s funny because mine say I’m not appearing in search, but then you can see me and your message states I’ve taken a break and you cannot message me. So, essentially, the two messages say two different things. Do you if there is an administrator that can make the messages line up with each other? Again, really appreciate your help.

@AllAboutSoul I did for a minute, then I muted it back. Try again. My concern is what I sent craM above. It tells me I won’t be in search, but then I am. I feel the two messages should match. I’ll just keep it on mute til I’m ready to receive messages, even though people can still see it.

Anyone can make their way to visit your profile. Just by typing in your exact user name or by clicking on your profile in the forums.
Mute does two things.
It allows you to send messages to people of your choosing (and then keep conversing with them once you’ve started correspondence) but prevents people from messaging you first.
Secondly it makes it so that your profile does NOT show up when people “search for cuddlers” in a specific area.
It’s a great feature for people who want to take a break but still post or continue current conversations. 😊

I believe that Search may not update in real time. That is, it might take an hour or two for muted profiles to not appear in Search results.

Just at the end…… Instead of your name…. you type theirs here in this manner.
That’s why you have to know their exact user name.
There might be another hack but I’m not sure.

When someone goes to mute their account, they see this message:
This will hide your profile from search and prevent people you don't know from messaging you. It's useful if you want to take a break while still being able to communicate with those you already know.
This basically means that anyone that you have not already started a conversation with will be unable to message you, and your profile will be hidden from anyone browsing for cuddlers in your area. All other site functionality remains the same, so you can still participate in forums and other members can still view your profile if they click your avatar in the forums or type your username in the address bar as others have noted. Muting does not make you go invisible.

There are a number of ways, not yet mentioned in this thread, in which somebody can view your profile while your account is muted:
I initially thought someone created this thread to mock a person’s disability.
