What do people think of platonic kissing?

This is definitely more a thing in continental European or Arab cultures than American culture, but I have been platonically kissed on the cheek before as an adult even in America. Interestingly, I've also read that lip-kissing can be platonic in certain cultures too or even economic systems as was the case with the "Socialist Fraternal Kiss" during the days of Communism.

So what do people personally think of platonic kissing? I think I like cheek kissing and forehead kissing that is more affectionate and caring in nature. Hand kissing to me almost seems too servile and distant to be appealing, and on the flip side for me, lip kissing then seems like it's too much, though I would respect the custom in a foreign country or when meeting with an important official visiting the USA.

I think I'm not opposed to platonic cheek-kissing being a part of cuddling as well, though I would follow whatever the rules are for the session (terms of service as well for any site) and also recognize the concern that kissing is still much more associated with romance in American culture than elsewhere.

    Seems like an attempt to shoehorn a sexual gesture into a platonic environment. Lol.

    While it is true some cultures are drastically different than western culture. This site has its rules and a scope of its limits.

    Every company or website is different so we juat follow the rules of that particular organization rwther than adhere to a general social etiquette in a particular country.

    At the end of the day its up to the two parties what they do seeing how people do fall in love and that cant be micromanaged. Thats how my wife found her partner on here and left me but it was better in the end because i wqs in a toxic situation and didn't know how to get out ao she did me a favor

    It’s not uncommon in the Latin community to kiss on the cheek as well, but it is a quick greeting between friends/family. Usually people you actually know and not necessarily meeting for the first time or in a “business” relationship which this could be considered. I think if it makes sense and is not a way to open the door to other forms of kissing, a quick cheek to cheek kiss may be appropriate. But along with everything else, consent is key!

    I would do the European cheek kissing thing where you kiss the air, cheek to cheek, to be polite with a pro who does this naturally, but in general - I think actually kissing the person crosses the line of platonic. Plus, it's against the terms of service. And don't forget that while unlikely, it is possible to get STDs from kissing strangers.

    Kissing as a greeting and cheek kissing in a cuddle are different in every culture.

    A greeting and a cuddle do not live in the same space.

    Folks have convinced me to think kissing should not occur in cuddling, but it makes sense as a greeting in some contexts with people you trust.

    I'm part south European. I kiss my family, friends, friends family (female and male) all the time. I've walked down the street in Sicily aem in arm with my friend's male cousin. There's nothing non-platonic about it. My wife is from SEA and they look very differently at PDA. She does give the air kiss to my family and friends now, but I would never think to do so to her friends. It's a respect for different cultures. I certainly would be comfortable giving a cheek kiss to a co-cuddler either as we are first arriving together or as we are leaving, but only if they were comfortable with it as well.

    Mid-cuddle definitely would feel different and I think it would be advisable to avoid that.
