New title sequence. This is what the player first sees when they open the game.
That's some cool stuff you got there. I need to Program in the same way Cioran needed to write.
@Mike403 Ive been sick this weekend so I haven’t been playing anything (even the new Zelda!) but I am def gonna download this and play.
@Charlie_Bear - I'll post a link once I get the new version published. Google Play treats it as a different app if I change the company name in the app bundle, so I unpublished the old one to avoid confusion
Next update... This is so much fun seeing what I can do with the game engine. I created a second camera pointed at the skybox(Earth for first level, moon for second, mars for third, etc..) and that camera slowly rotates. The rendered imaged from both cameras are then overlayed on top of each other to give this cool visual effect:
I’m torn on the music. The track itself is good but it doesn’t seem like it fits this particular game. It feels like it needs something a little more atmospheric.
@lonelytauros - The music was A.I. generated from https://soundraw.io/
I generated a bunch of tracks and used ones that I thought sounded good. I may change it based on feedback, but it's still early in the development stage.
Even if you kept the music the way that it is, it would still be decent. Here’s some ideas or types of tunes that I was thinking that might mesh well with your game. @Mike403
@lonelytauros - Since my game is intended to be distributed to a wide audience, I need to make sure everything I use is free of copyright to stay out of legal trouble.
I understand that I’m just trying to give you ideas of types of tunes that you might be able to incorporate not the actual tracks
@lonelytauros - I'll play around with it a little more. A.I. has its limitations but it's cheaper than paying a composer to write music for me.
A lot of indie games use Create Commons licensed music, sound effects, art, etc. As long as you double check that the specific CC license allows commercial use, and you follow any other terms (often just restrictions on what you can do if you modify/remix the music, which you likely don't intend to do anyway, and attribution--just list the tracks and composers on a credits screen) you can use it for free.
More details and some sources of CC licensed music are described here: https://blog.hootsuite.com/creative-commons-music-resources/
I prefer public domain WTFPL licensed stuff personally Perhaps because I'm an anarchist who thinks credit is a cringe meme. But I don't agree with Max Stirner, while we both agree that credit may be a spook, he will take credit for everything he can claim as his own. I don't think it's important at all, but I guess you have to be an autistic edgelord shitposter on 4chan to appreciate the magic of anonymity creativity. https://drummyfish.gitlab.io/lrs/main.html also if you are interested in stirnerposting here's a quick guide on how 2 de spook urself.
I submitted the new version for review. The App Bundle size was 220MB which exceeded the 150MB limit set by Google Play so I had to compress the sh*t out of textures to lower the file size. People on tiny phone screens don't need high quality textures anyway.
I prefer f-droid personally. I think that Apple and Google Play stores are just a massive meme. I prefer real UNIX style repos. Also Android could use a ports system like on FreeBSD. even most GNU systems lack this, and of course Linux was originally built as a free replacement for MINIX which was a DIY UNIX clone but encumbered with too many licence restrictions. Although I prefer playing games on GNU systems (and BSD) rather than a not-so-standard system running on a Linux Kernel (Better RISC systems out there too.) I recommend replicant, it handles VNs okay but not really a gaming platform yet (at least not on my hardware) https://replicant.us
That's pretty awesome, @Mike403 ! I'm not a lover of new video games, but retro and retro-style are a lot of fun for me! (The more simple something looks, the more complex it actually is.)
@AllAboutSoul Yeah I share a preference for software rendered 3D graphics over hardware accelerated graphics
Here's Quake Running on the Amiga.
My new version is now live. I had to create a new store listing due to not being able to change the company name on the other one and I didn't want to be known as Default Company.
The screenshots/trailer are from the first release. I'll get around to updating those eventually.
