OOOOOoooooOOOOOO

Today I want to talk about a controversial subject: AI. Is it good? Is it bad? Is it going to kill us all?

Yes AI! Has anyone here used anything like opengpt? ahem....

"incorporated" it into your everyday lives.

Right now I take online classes. With a lack of response time from a realtime professor, I have taken to tinkering with asking AI all my questions. It is surprisingly good at it.

Here is an example:

Let me know of some practical (or fun!) uses you have found for AI!

  • A.I. will be generally a positive technological advancement.

  • Just to be safe I have cancelled my future plans to visit the Capital of Sokovia.

Well, it's evidently useless in some areas. A lawyer just got in trouble for using AI to write a legal brief. All the cases the AI cited as precedents were fake.

The following tells you all there is to know about the current state of AI.

I just put this prompt into ChatGPT:

Write a rhyming poem of sixteen lines about two lonely strangers discovering each other on the internet and meeting for a platonic cuddle.

Within less than thiry seconds it had produced this response:

Two strangers lost in a digital haze,
Yearning for connection in lonely days.
Through the virtual realm, fate intervened,
Their paths crossed, and a friendship gleaned.

In the vast expanse of the online sphere,
They found solace, their doubts disappeared.
Shared stories and laughter bridged the gap,
An invisible bond, no distance could trap.

With hearts open wide, they dared to believe,
That destiny brought them a reprieve.
Their souls, once adrift, found solace online,
A friendship born, so rare and divine.

They longed for warmth, a human touch,
A platonic cuddle, meant oh so much.
Through screens and pixels, they planned to meet,
An embrace to make their loneliness retreat.

And when the day arrived, nerves filled the air,
But hope and excitement they chose to wear.
In a cozy café, their eyes finally met,
Two hearts beating fast, no room for regret.

They sat side by side, hands timidly entwined,
No expectations, just comfort they'd find.
Their platonic cuddle, a balm for their souls,
A tender gesture, filling emotional holes.

In that simple moment, their worlds aligned,
Two lonely strangers, now forever defined.
Their friendship blossomed, like flowers in bloom,
An embrace of warmth, dispelling their gloom.

Though time may pass and circumstances change,
Their bond remains, solid and strange.
For they found in each other a kindred spirit,
A platonic cuddle, a connection infinite.

So there you have it. AI can produce a functional poem in much less time than a human ever could. And although that poem isn't very good it does contain a real truth in the emboldened verse. BUT .... it can't count to 16.

Today, AI is little more than a toy (as that idiot lawyer discovered). But after five more years of tweaking, directing and specialising? Plugged into a specialised database? It will take your job.

Now imagine using it to control a small group of robots working together, one of whom could be a driverless lorry or crane. (You don't have to put the AI in the robot, it can be linked wirelessly.) Give it improved face and voice recognition software.

Oh, and teach it to count.

    Scared yet?

The key thing to remember is that Artificial Intelligence is a terrible name for it. It's no more intelligent than a coin. It's just a normal computer, programmed in a particular way and plugged into a big database. It does not have, and never will have, any more self awareness than a brick.

  • Scared yet?

It's almost as if the people who design this stuff have never seen the Matrix movies, or Terminator movies, nor have ever read any of Sir Isaacs robot stories.

Or this little gem: "open the pod bay doors HAL"

  • @Charlie_Bear 😂😂😂
@WriterGF - I saw Steve Leto’s video on that, it was funny and scary at the same time.

As someone who’s worked in the IT and cybersecurity fields for quite a while now, it’s amazing what chat gpt can generate when the person behind it is accurately describing what prerequisites a piece of code needs, but the simple fact that it needs to be described so specifically means that most clients won’t outsource IT jobs just yet. We have to remember, these things aren’t true AI, because very much of what we’re talking about has a lot of human assistance. The day of computations being done without that assistance will be a sight to see.

I asked Chatgpt: What are the benefits of platonic cuddling?

“ Platonic cuddling, which refers to non-sexual physical affection between friends or acquaintances, can offer several benefits to individuals involved. Here are some potential benefits of platonic cuddling:

    1. Emotional comfort: Cuddling can provide a sense of emotional support, warmth, and comfort. It releases oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and reducing stress, which can help individuals feel more secure and connected.
    2. Stress reduction: Physical touch, such as cuddling, has been shown to reduce stress levels by promoting the release of endorphins, the body's natural mood-enhancing chemicals. It can help alleviate anxiety and promote relaxation.
    3. Improved mood and well-being: Cuddling can boost mood and overall well-being by fostering a sense of contentment and happiness. It can create a positive and uplifting experience, leading to increased feelings of happiness and satisfaction.
    4. Enhanced social connection: Cuddling can deepen social bonds and strengthen friendships. Sharing physical affection in a platonic way can create a sense of intimacy, trust, and closeness between individuals.
    5. Increased self-awareness and self-acceptance: Cuddling can promote self-awareness and self-acceptance by allowing individuals to connect with their own bodies and physical sensations. It can help people become more comfortable with physical touch and develop a positive body image.
    6. Better sleep quality: Physical touch, such as cuddling, can contribute to improved sleep quality. It can help individuals feel relaxed and secure, leading to better sleep patterns and a more restful night.
    7. Non-judgmental and safe environment: Platonic cuddling can provide a non-judgmental and safe space for individuals to express their emotions, vulnerabilities, and needs. It allows for open communication and can foster a sense of trust and acceptance.

It is important to note that the benefits of platonic cuddling may vary from person to person, and individuals may have different preferences and boundaries when it comes to physical touch.

Respect for personal boundaries and clear communication are essential for ensuring that all participants feel comfortable and safe in a cuddling arrangement.”

I saw a wonderful post the other day -- "For AI to take the job of graphic designers, clients would have to be able to describe what they want. So we're safe."

  • And... you didn't want to be passenger in the first few motorized aircraft ever invented.

Also... an early critic of Alexander Graham Bell said there would never be any practical use for sending voices over a wire.

I see/glanced at your post and saw a cool abstract line drawing, design, image, art.
The characters mean nothing to me because I don’t know much about AI.
But I know it’s creating some cool art. About telling it what to paint.

  • @WriterGF yes, "clear as mud" won't fade away because of AI.
