Is it just me or does time seem to be speeding up

Halfway into the year and it feels like it just started

  • I think because 2020-2022 we were so penned up with the pandemic lockdowns, working from home, and all the stress to preoccupy us, things seemed to drag so this year feels sped up by comparison.

  • I literally ask this every week! I know I’ve been told and now have experienced time speeding up as I get/gotten older but this year and last couple seem to be split into half or something. I really believe this phenomenon is beyond the normal old fashion “time speeds up as we get older,” statement because in recent.. it’s a question even younger generations are asking..

Gets faster as you get older.

I’ve had entire months go by faster than that last minute of school when I was seven…

  • I think things have become so boring and routine that my brain retains none of it so it feels like time is speeding by and I only realize what year it is because of small events in my life where I actually do something different than normal.

  • I have had this discussions with numerous friends and some of them really feel this. I think this might be linked to we getting more preoccupied with technology and as a collective having very less free time creating this rushed experience for the whole. I have also felt difference in Time based on place. Like on a trip to Mexico time felt moving slowly compared to here in the US

  • My theory is that it feels like it is going by faster as you get older because each time period is a portion compared to the amount of time in your life. One month when you have lived only 5 years is a greater portion of life compared to one month out of 30 years and even less when you've lived 50, then 70. In this perspective, it makes sense (at least in my mind) that it would seem to go by quicker as you age

  • @Lisa123 That is an exceptionally astute point and I bet there is truth to it!
