I am going to the national parks thats why I am taking my hiatus
Travel season is in full swing. Enjoy your trip!!
Okily dokily then
I drove past Zion National Park and I got to go through the Rockies on my way to/from Denver and it was really cool. I definitely should have allowed myself some time to actually visit some of those parks.
@jimboslice5014 which ones are you tackling this year? I just got back from a vacay in Maine that included Acadia which was cool but kind of ranks in the middle of the pack for National Parks for me but there is a lot of competition.
On the other hand the state of Maine is just plain beautiful and I got to go out on an all day trip in the Gulf of Maine and saw several humpback whales and one lone sperm whale and several puffins. This was outside of Acadia of course.
So this year I have been to three for the first time—Hot Springs, Mammoth and Acadia. Love me some National Parks.
Acadia:
Wow @BoomerSpooner Beautiful!
I’m going to Canada in July! I’ve always wanted to go, especially to Montreal and Quebec City. Just trying to figure out where to stay (nothing too $$). So if you have specific neighborhoods/areas, please feel free to recommend! I love artsy, old, French, architecture, shopping, coffee shops!❤️ I also hope to cuddle while there. 🤗
Montreal and Quebec City are very cool but I was like 15 when I was there. My mother was French so it was a destination spot.
@BoomerSpooner I will not hit Acadia this round but I will be going to a wedding in August up in the Bangor area so I think what I’ll do is go to Acadia during that time ha ha.
The Park shall be going to will be Psion arches, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. I think Canyon lands as well so it’s gonna be a good time. I’m very excited for this trip as I waited a whole year for it.
@jimboslice5014 Nothing is as breathtaking as seeing the Grand Canyon the first time. Been there a few times and it never disappoints.
If you are in Bangor you have to go to Acadia! It’s only 45 minutes away!
Also in Bangor…the Stephen King house, Mt Hope Cemetary which inspired his novel Pet Sematary, and the Orono Bog walk. Here are pics I took from those spots.
Stephen King’s house:
Mt Hope Cemetary
The Orono Bog Walk (owned by the University of Maine) loved this place:
Ooo Stephen Kings house looks neat! Is that where he lives now or an old place that does really cool tours?
@Kuddle6 It was his house until 2020 but it now houses the Stephen King Foundation. That totem pole was commissioned by King and his wife from a dead tree and has allusions to some of his books.
@BoomerSpooner It would require a lot of pizza and beer to get anyone to move that totem pole.
I have a good road trip coming up next week (with a cuddle session booked to take a break) and have NYC with my kids at the end of July. That’s all I got for this year…haha. Unless I go back to New England area again for one of the holidays
@MrAdmirer Doooo iiiiitttt! I’m going back to New England for the holidays. I loved it last year. Didn’t even mind getting stuck for an extra 2 weeks. New England is so pretty and wonderful.
(Don’t fly southwest at Christmas) or… at all. I still do but don’t follow in my insane footsteps.
@stormydaycuddle I lived my first 45 years in New England area, I don’t miss the winters. My parent are just about 80 and don’t want to travel anymore so I need to visit them more before they are gone.
I only fly American Airlines. I’m biased because I used to work over at the AA terminals in Logan Airport back in the 1990s and still know people who work there. One of my friends gives me upgrades when she is working….haha
@carrieanne , be sure to check out there water ways where they have the lift system in place. Really wild, it picks up the boat you are in and lifts it to a higher level. The last trip for me, I was held up at the border crossing because I’m a gun owner with a Florida carry permit and they thought sure I had a gun with me. Of course I knew better and did not have any guns with me.
@stormydaycuddle & @MrAdmirer I'm a New England gal and spend all my time off work up there as I have 2 grown kids who live there still. I'm leaving Thursday and can't wait to see them!!! I go for Christmas & drove last year, but the weather was terrible 😫 it rained the whole drive. I fly when I'm only going for a few days, but when it's a week or more sometimes I drive. I'm booked with American this time.
@Lisa123 nice!! I wish I was going to New England this week. Hope you have a fun trip. Also, missed you while I was out. Hugs!
I'm happy to see you back 😊
I just spent a week in Maine and New Hamster.
