@SunsetSnuggles i appreciate that quote very much 💗💗🥰🥰
Iseult, the Celtic name for Isolde, was an Irish princess famed for her magical healing powers.
One of many tales of Iseult and the Cornish knight Tristan is based on a Celtic legend, and is a chivalric romance and a tale of the tragedy of illicit love. In probably the most famous tale Iseult meets Tristan when he travels to Ireland with a poisoned wound. He later returns to escort Iseult to Cornwall so she can marry his uncle, King Mark, thus creating a love triangle.
This love triangle is a theme that spans the centuries, another famous tale is of King Arthur, Lancelot and Arthur's queen Guinevere.
Here's the lovely Iseult in a gorgeous painting by French artist Gaston Bussiere.

“Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
It is okay to smile and wave in the face of betrayal & discomfort …….. as long as you smile and wave to its immediate dismissal, for the end of that relationship is their loss and not yours.

When you lose someone… all of a sudden you have no choice but to live in a world you don’t recognize.
It feels dark even when it’s daylight. Lonely even when you are surrounded by people.
Only existing. Unsure of your identity now.
You can see life going on right in front of you.
You even try to reach out and touch that world. But you aren’t able to. Yet.
People out there are just living their mundane lives and seem to not have a care in the world. You sometimes try to live in that world too. This involves fake smiles and pretend interest in small talk. It’s exhausting. So you choose to isolate instead.
It would be nice to switch places with them. And not have your loss constantly replaying in your mind. All those anxious thoughts ruminating.
It’s a rude awakening when everyone just keeps moving. Laughing. Making plans. While you are suspended in time.
Just going through the motions. With a pain so deep that you can’t even exactly pinpoint where it is coming from. Invisible to others. But it’s there. And it always hurts.
People will say “they are always with you”. But where? It feels so long since you have heard their voice. You almost feel like you have been abandoned to roam this unrecognizable world alone. And on the other end, feel guilty for trying to move forward without them.
Loss is this way. A big ball of tangled up feelings. And it takes as long as it takes to move through these confusing emotions. It takes patience. Lots of self care and being kind to yourself.
Because grief is a lonely journey when you are the only one who truly understands how this particular loss feels.
Couldn't resist sharing this one.
Ahhh! Someone misquoted Dune. I’m sure you are a great person and hugs your way but as it is one of my favorite series…
To tell you how picky I am I get flustered when someone claims to be a fanatic then calls the planet Dune. It is: “Arrakis, Dune, Desert Planet.”
pain is NOT the mind killer. It’s the litany of fear 😢😢😢😢😢 Here’s the quote:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
I do apologize. It’s one of those land mines of mine.
For all those feral or outdoor kitties we all love and care for ❤️
I May Never Be a Lap Cat - A Poem by Melanie Nordberg
The artwork shared with this is "Feral Wraith" by Molly Devlin
I may never be a lap cat, or one who comes when called. I may resist the hand that tries to touch and some may think I’m flawed. I may prefer my freedom to your warm and cozy house I may reject a bowl of finest foods for the chance to catch a mouse. But the box you put out for me, Feels safe and warm and dry. And I raise my eyes to thank you when I see you walking by. I eat the food you give me I listen to your voice I may never be a lap cat but thank you for offering me the choice. One day I’ll see the winter, one day I’ll feel the rain, I may grow old not knowing there is freedom from this pain I know you’ve tried to help me and although my days will end I may never be a lap cat but I know you are my friend.•*'⁀⋱•🐾
'Before we left for Italy I tried again to meet Sugar Ray. I walked all the way up Fifth Avenue to 125th Street. I wanted to get his autograph and tell him that l was on my way to the Olympics to win a gold medal. I wanted to tell him that I admired him, and that I was going to be the heayyweight champion of the world by the time I was twenty-one. When I arrived at the club I waited outside all day for Sugar Ray to get there. I didn't mind waiting; I would have stood outside all week if I had to.
It was about ten o'clock when he finally drove up. I was so excited that for the first time in my life, I was speechless. When I pulled myself together, I walked up to Mr. Robinson and told him how far I had come just to see him and how long I had been waiting to get his autograph. I told him that I was going to be the heavyweight champion of the whole world, and that he was my hero.
When I think back, I realize he never really looked at me. He gave me a quick pat on the shoulder and told me, 'Later, boy, I'm busy right now.' I was crushed. I couldn't believe he brushed me aside like that, especially after l had waited all day for him to show up. I felt as if my feet were made of cement. I couldn't move. I just stood there as I watched Sugar Ray Robinson turn his back to me and walk away. Aithough I felt hurt and let down, I decided that I wouldn't let my disappointment get the best of me.
I was going to be diferent when I became a great boxer. I would be the kind of champion that fans could walk up to and talk to. I would shake their hands and sign every autograph, even sign some autographs in advance so that when I was in a hurry, I could still hand them out to people, assuring everyone went home happy. I was going to go out of my way to show my fans how important they were, and how much l appreciated them. At that moment, I vowed never to turn a fan away.
I didn't want anyone to feel the disappointment and hurt that I felt that night. I was always going to make time for the people who looked up to me; especially children. I knew that when I became a champion - and I knew that I would - I was going to remember what it was like before I made it big. I wasn't going to forget where I came from. I was going to be my own kind of champion, a champ to all people everywhere in the world. And no matter how high I climbed up the ladder of success, I was going to view the world without looking down on anyone. And wasn't going to forget the boy that I once was.'
“Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.” ― George Orwell, Animal Farm
"Leave the dishes. Let the celery rot in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator and an earthen scum harden on the kitchen floor. Leave the black crumbs in the bottom of the toaster.
Throw the cracked bowl out and don't patch the cup. Don't patch anything. Don't mend. Buy safety pins. Don't even sew on a button.
Let the wind have its way, then the earth that invades as dust and then the dead foaming up in gray rolls underneath the couch. Talk to them. Tell them they are welcome. Don't keep all the pieces of the puzzles or the doll's tiny shoes in pairs, don't worry who uses whose toothbrush or if anything matches, at all.
Except one word to another. Or a thought. Pursue the authentic-decide first what is authentic, then go after it with all your heart. Your heart, that place you don't even think of cleaning out. That closet stuffed with savage mementos.
Don't sort the paper clips from screws from saved baby teeth or worry if we're all eating cereal for dinner again.
Don't answer the telephone, ever, or weep over anything at all that breaks. Pink molds will grow within those sealed cartons in the refrigerator. Accept new forms of life and talk to the dead who drift in though the screened windows, who collect patiently on the tops of food jars and books.
Recycle the mail, don't read it, don't read anything except what destroys the insulation between yourself and your experience or what pulls down or what strikes at or what shatters this ruse you call necessity.” Louise Erdrich
