Natural Remedies and Alternatives

What are some natural remedies/natural alternative things you do that isn't conventional or known yet but works like a charm. It could be anything from natural medicines, to natural cleaning products, unconventional therapies, or just the way you fix things.

One of the things I do is use baking soda or vinegar as an alternative to deodorant. The vinegar smell lasts for a little while but the length of time it works to deodorize is worth it in comparison to regular deodorant. The plus side being I skip out on putting a host of chemicals on my skin everyday, a pivotal area of skin at that.

I take power naps. No more than 20 minutes. It's like rebooting the computer and gives me such a boost of energy

@MrAdmirer Try doing this with caffeine if you have the chance. If you drink some coffee, take a power nap, then the coffee will hit you as you wake up.

@Ripley54566 I drink plenty of caffeine so I’m sure this is what happens…lol

@PrettyLuv I have a love for nootropics and study drugs. I recently started taking this thing called Kratom that I get from my local smoke shop. It's apparently made from pine trees or something. I wouldn't recommend it since it can be addictive apparently but it's better than Adderall lol

  • 1 scoop of “ceremonial grade” cacao in my first cup of coffee every morning. Cacao has been shown to increase your body’s stem cell production and provide several other cellular benefits. https://totalstemcell.com/news_posts/cacao-stem-cells/

  • I love this topic. Thank you @PrettyLuv for starting this. I’ve always preferred natural over other options.
Like sunscreen, I’m going to Florida Saturday and am looking to use something natural instead of chemical.

  • Chiropractor once a month and massage once a month to stay healthy. Eating healthy (as healthy as I can and as I want) to prevent disease. Staying away from products with chemicals. Eating low amounts of sugar to help keep my brain stable. (Sugar addicted/sugar sensitive, so it affects my brain and thinking when I eat sugar). If you look at a drugstore chain, don’t buy all the stuff upfront, and possibly stay away from stuff in back. Meaning stay away from all of the processed foods, make ups with chemicals, laundry soap with chemicals, and so on, and then it’ll help you stay away from the back, such is the pharmacy part of the store.
I also use peppermint essential oil when I have a headache or shoulder ache.
I also use cuddling. I love my “oxy” :). And along with that I sometimes get extra massages for my neck and shoulders.

  • At least one poop a day

  • @Hollydollhugs oh, I never use sunscreen anymore either. Now all I use is a mixture of the following butters: shea butter, mango butter & cocoa butter. Put them on your skin right before you go into the sun. When the sun hits you, your skin will literally glow when you’re done.

@CuddleHugs01234 peppermint essential oil is amazing. It’s so therapeutic. I only just discovered it’s amazing properties just this year. It’s definitely a must have. It seems anything in the menthol/mint family is really healing and restorative.

@pmvines actually, its really nice you mentioned this because not many people would want to discuss this part, but elimination is so important in alternative healing methods. Not only in getting rid of solid waste but in getting rid of any trapped gases as well. The smell of the poop, the consistency (log or pellets) and how many times a day one poops are all telling factors in determining one’s health. The sheer amount of information that can be derived just from one’s fecal matter alone is mind boggling. In alternative medicine it’s becoming a target test in analyzing the gut biome.

  • I found this nasal spray called Sinus Plumber. Contains capsaicin (cayenne pepper), horseradish and wintergreen. Works great but unfortunately doesn't last too long.

  • I love essential oils for all kinds of things. Quality ones for therapeutic reasons. Cheaper ones just to freshen air or use like I would perfume etc.

  • L-Citrulline is available at a decent price on Amazon. It's an effective at reducing blood pressure by gently expanding your veins and arteries. Do not take with any other blood pressure medications without talking to your physician first. For weight lifters, athletes and gym enthusiasts, it also helps increase the flow of red blood cells carrying nutrients and O².
It's in a lot of things we eat but is best known for occuring in watermelon rind as a non essential amino acid. If you take any other meds or supplements, be smart and clear it with your doctor before adding to your routine.

  • @GrayMatter heavy metal detoxing is also excellent at reducing blood pressure and preventing stroke. There’s a couple radical heavy metal detoxing agents but the one I find the most gentle to start with is coconut based activated charcoal.

  • PrettyLuv,
With all the heavy metal I listened to in the 60s and 70s, I am thankful for the info. Lol....
Seriously, I have not heard of the detoxer. I'm definitely going to read up on it. Thank you for the heads up.

  • Yea def @GrayMatter. Not many know about that connection. I, myself, kinda stumbled on that piece of info while researching autism. Apparently the connection was discovered by a geologist who at the time was simply trying to determine the age of the earth and found a whole layer of lead in one of the sedimentary layers and wondered why. What a story that unfolded.

  • I'm not sure if this counts but I get migraines pretty often, and sometimes before I take a painkiller I'll try eating something salty (nuts, pretzels, chips, whatever) and that'll do the trick by itself! It's worked for some of my friends too!

  • A tablespoon of flaxseeds will knock out most prostate meds. Try to make sure you eat them within 20 minutes of grinding. Never buy flaxseed ground.

I also like to scrub with vegetable glycerin. It does wonders for bringing my sensitive skin into balance. Another scrub I love is Himalayan salt covered in jojoba oil.

I've also been using a clay-based shampoo (which is not really shampoo at all) from Terressentials that works better than anything I've ever used.

    @PrettyLuv
The layer of lead, even on the ocean floors was prior to unleaded gasoline being manufactured; if this is the layer of lead being referred to. The gas was leaded and they realized it was having major health effects.
Taking my pets for walks, I used to get therapeutic massages 2 times a week, sometimes 4.

  • @PrettyLuv thank you for validating my bowel regime you are a true friend

  • I can always count on reading a poop post from @pmvines at least once per day.

So here’s a trick… to make your hair shine… vinegar rinse
For depression St. Johnson Wart (I’m not a doctor and don’t use with anti depressants …they mix badly)
And to send a toxic ex off…arsenic… 100% natural. SUCH A JOKE!!! (Mods if that one’s too dark let me know)

  • @CelestialTouch the issue was that oil & gas companies were in a monopoly with the researchers behind toxic lead levels (much like the conflict of interest in the research behind the pharmaceutical industry now). The gas companies pretty much hired the research team responsible for determining lead safety levels for the entire country so they could keep using it in their combustion process, even despite the mounting deaths at the factories and the mounting health issues arising all around. It took a geologist researching the earth’s age, to discover the mass lead contamination under the seabed. That layer of lead did not exist there prior to unleaded gasoline. That was a layer of lead that was 1000 times the normal amount of lead that was supposed to be there and humans at the time had 100 times more lead in their body than those of historic times which was due to over 40 years of exposure to extremely high levels of lead throughout the US (lead naturally falls to the floor/surface in air & water over time but since it was deemed safe by the oil & gas industry it was then used in water piping, food supplies, cutlery, foodware, paint, everything really…and you can still find this in some products even up to today). Those responsible who knew it was dangerous chose to suppress the information on it in favor of the profit margin. The problem was that the everyone was lead to believe it was safe and anything that opposed that rhetoric was severely suppressed. As a result, the men behind it are accused of killing the most people in human history. It’s considered on the level of an atomic bomb in terms of death toll and catastrophic consequences on the earth. Fortunately one diligent and persevering man helped put a stop to it - Clair Patterson. A great read up on it is here: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/94569/clair-patterson-scientist-who-determined-age-earth-and-then-saved-it

  • Lol @pmvines. Aye aye poopster

    @stormydaycuddle vinegar is so versatile

  • @PrettyLuv - It isn't a normal day on CuddleComfort without @pmvines randomly popping into a thread to talk about poop.

  • @PrettyLuv
Thankyou for your post. Interestingly gasoline is still a health hazard. Everytime you fill the car up and take a wiff. I always try to stay upwind. An old neighborhood friend from long time ago decided he liked the smell of the fumes and permanently damaged his brain.

  • @CelestialTouch definitely. That’s why heavy metal detoxing is almost a necessity now. Particularly for those experiencing any kind of heart issue, or neurological issues.
