  • @CharlesInWI I wouldn't say it's necessarily confusing commerce for connection. Transference and counter-transference are well documented in a lot of industries where sharing intimacy is required - psychology, talk therapy, massage therapy, professional dancers, and actors to name a few.

    "Catching feelings" isn't some sort of moral failing - but it can be a sign of poor boundary skills, trauma, or sheer lack of support and connection in other areas of one's life. It is a completely natural human experience - it only becomes problematic if acting on it or not acting on it causes distress to any of the people involved.
