The edit function seems to be back again for older posts. I actually quite liked the 24 hour time limit to edit before. As someone with a fair bit of OCD, it made me consider my words more carefully. Personally, I don't like this change.

I keep comparing to my experience on Airbnb as a host. Different, but still similar in that there is an inherent risk in the activity we are engaging in with strangers.
On Airbnb, I like that there are multiple levels of identity check. It displays on your profile how many and which verifications you have participated in (so as a host, or a pro here, I can see another level of effort the person has taken to join our community here). In addition to your basic phone and email verification, you can link your accounts from Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It is a requirement to submit a photo of your government ID (ie - driver's license) in order to create an account. Of course pros can request this information themselves, but I feel like it would help increase the validity of people's accounts on here if they had multiple avenues of identity verification. In addition, you might have fewer fake profiles or people looking to cause trouble if they need to submit to more identity verification. I imagine it would also make it more difficult for people who have been previously banned to create another account here.
I remember @scarlette suggesting folders in our private message areas to keep us organized. I would like to mention that need again and would find it extremely helpful.
@ubergigglefritz This is actually on the roadmap already. Levels would likely be Email, Facebook/Google and Phone. Government ID verification would be a major undertaking and is not in consideration for now.

How long do 'closed threads' stick around for?

The only difference with a closed thread is you can't reply. That's it. No expiration date on its existence.
Two points - 1. Although I have used the Visitors page on occasion, I know Facebook discussed this a lot and decided not to have it. Orkut had it though, and I personally feel it is TMI category. Too much information, and could potentially make life more complicated than it needs to be for users. But probably hard to remove it after offering it in the first place. 2. Ability to make profile picture visible to a user once conversation begins.
I would not mind if a pro says hello to me via PM. If it is against the rules, I cant imagine why that would be. Maybe I can add that to my profile...
Fantastic suggestion! I would love to see that option on profiles. Have a it's ok to message me or a please don't message me if you are a pro option on the profile. I think that it would be beneficial to everyone.
I second that suggestion, @AshleyCuddles and @Scarlette. I would like to have the option to have a “C” or similar code on my profile that says that I am open to solicitation from pros, as well as an “E” that says that I am open to Enthusiasts as well.

@AshleyCuddles I like that idea of members having something on their profile to let Pros know it's ok for them to make first contact. The rules do say that a Pro cannot advertise including by private messages without their prior consent, but having an Yes/No option on their profile would count as consent. Also including it as a feature for Pros to be able to search by could help as well in knowing which potential clients are open to a Pro contacting them to instigate booking a session over them maybe being too shy or not knowing what to say.
I agree that nobody has the right to judge that. On the flipside, cant expect someone to necessarily know a persons triggers. I have a hard time being upset at someone who doesn't know better. Its if they know better and do it anyway and have the intent of upsetting you is when I would be offended.

Interesting to see this thread pop up a year after it originated. I know that the topic has been diverted but I also noticed that some of the suggestions haven't been implemented. I.E. removing or doing something about latent/inactive profiles.

Thank you. We are fine with not having kids. We would have liked it but aren’t broken hearted that it didn’t happen. It’s given us the time and opportunity to put in a lot of work with animal rescue. We have saved many lost souls. I also have two younger siblings that are 10 and 11 years younger that I spent a lot of time being Dad Jr with and we have our nephews and nieces so we are surrounded with loved ones.
