@JohnR1972 Great explanation. People are very efficient at poisoning our environment and the biggest mystery comes when people who normally “follow the science” dismiss the same science community telling them that climate change is very real and things need to change.
I think a lot of people are only on board with “fun” science that doesn’t demand anything of them.
This was not directed at anyone in particular, but I have seen posts dismissing climate change as a grift.
The dinosaurs didn't believe in climate change and look what happened to them.
@stormydaycuddle I don't consider sheets to be romantic, and I don't consider candles to be romantic either. The intentios of two people and the overall atmosphere is what determines, in my opinion, if something is romantic or not.
@BoomerSpooner April-July this year Colorado had 1 week of sun. It rained every other day. Knocking out all precipitation records by miles and miles. In the summer we are lucky to get 1 small shower in June. There is no historical record of this or of the heat waves everyone else is facing. We are still getting a little rain in August.
Also, if Colorado becomes the new PNW… I’m going to have a hard time wanting this to balance out. 😂😂😂😂 I love rain and am pretty selfish… she says as she throws her Swedish dish towels in the laundry, and uses beeswax wraps to wrap food etc. but I mean… rain though…

From candles to climate change. Okay.
I don't know anyone who denies climate change. There has been continual climate change on this planet and the other planets in our solar system for 4 billion years, of which only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of that time has seen humans.
And more power to them, but I see a lot of folks who are demanding action continue using all the modern conveniences they say are contributing to Earthly destruction. Is that the "fun" science earlier referenced, or just "convenient" science?
Anyway, at some point, we're eventually going to have to take it up with that giant bright ball of continuous thermonuclear explosions we see way up in the sky. It all begins and ends with that thing.
But to get back to the topic at hand, I don't want to cause any allergic reactions for my guests (so far, I have not).
I do agree @JohnR1972 that we're not doing ourselves any favors with the foods we eat, or many of the pharmaceuticals we take.

That's a good idea, I certainly don't have a problem doing that. This conversation prompted me to list products I use on my profile. Hopefully, potential cuddlers will read that list as they peruse my profile.

@stormydaycuddle Abnormalities and records are not heat related only. Precipitation in dry places and droughts in wet places are also indications.
The US has set over 4000 climate records since mid-May. Usually the number is under 500. You may become the new Seattle.
When I host:
• I avoid scents. • I make sure the place is clean and fresh. • Depending on the length of the cuddle, I may ask the other person about drink and snack preferences. • I ask about temperature preferences.
Really, it’s just basic “host” stuff.
You are absolutely right, but it seems the message needs to be periodically repeated. I think it needs to be repeated because there are so many people that seem to be isolated and are very unsure how to host. Perhaps social isolation is the new modern epidemic.
@BoomerSpooner - I am guessing @TxTom might have been referring to someone who owns multiple beachfront homes, had numerous private dinners with Jeffrey Epstein (the reason cited by his ex-wife for divorcing him) and who flies around the world on private jets to tell people to quit eating meat to combat climate change (and by PURE COINCIDENCE he is a major investor in plant based, artificial meat products).
Most surprisingly, even though he founded the company that created Microsoft Teams, he still needs FOUR private jets to travel the world to tell everyone else to reduce their carbon footprint. Maybe he just never learned how to use Microsoft Teams, Zoom or WebEx?

@JohnR1972 I am not going to rely on a billionaire to affect change, but I do get the hypocrisy there. But fixating on the exceptions and hypocrisies is a detriment to people who are trying to actually affect change. This is also a modern malady—pointing out the bad in change rather than focusing on what could be accomplished if we actually did what we could on a micro personal level. Inaction is our own worst enemy. Not just in climate change, but in caring for each other.
What happened? I was just happy Colorado is going to be underwater soon... Cozy rainy days everyday. Yes, please!!! Who cares about whales ingesting plastic or brown outs, or the fact that a lot of people can't go outside due to weather advisories. Who cares about historically rapid rising... blame it on a cycle. Lets ignore green house gases like we don't understand wth they are. Lets increase our carbon foot print like the earth is an endless resource. Throws a candy wrapper into a duck pond Also... Side note: completely on topic... if you guys do like candles for your cuddles try Mythology Candles. Fantasy scented candles. They take about a month to arrive and are $$$ but... they are amazing and so worth it.

In fact, I appreciate the diversity of lifeforms on our planet. (Those that used to exist, those that exist today, and those that will exist eons from now.) All of which is carbon-based, which is why carbon is not a pollutant. No carbon = no life.
The planet Venus has undergone rapid greenhouse effect. It's 400+ degrees on the surface, which is odd, because there aren't any Republicans or SUVs there.

So I was going off with the environment in general with the whale issue because I read about more washing up on shore earlier today. Sadness. Anyway as to the point about Carbon. Carbon and carbon pollution are two very different things. Not all scientific elements are created equal in different molecular make ups. Are you suggesting Republicans are the leading source of climate change here? I can dig that. Unsure that's 100% true but I'm in.

Once in a while I'll light a candle, but I prefer the Gonesh incense sticks. They're inexpensive and very fragrant. Does anyone use these, or use an alternative brand?
