Polite cuddles vs bestie cuddles

Does anyone else wish scheduling cuddle sessions were as easy and relaxed as a "U up" text sometimes??

Normally when I have cuddle sessions it's a bit of an event, we chat, we see if the vibe is right and if it is we schedule a sesh. We meet, exchange pleasantries, chitchat then cuddle and have a lovely time then part ways hopeful of a next time, but the next time often plays out in a similar way. Schedules need to be wrangled, life gets in the way, you've got an hour here or there to meet and it's lovely, but it's never really aligned with those times when you just really need to be held. Most of the time it's more like having lunch with a friend you don't know well, it's fun and polite and well mannered, but sometimes that's not what ya really need.

Sometimes ya just need that bestie level cuddle. The kind of cuddle where it doesn't have to be all put together and polite, all smiles and sweetness, cuddles where you can be sad, and real, a show up in your frumpy pj's after business hours and admit life's kicking your @ss and you feel like crying kind of cuddle and it's just understood that that's ok both ways. Where you can just be there for one another cuz life sucks and there's no need to pretend like everything perfect all the time.

And I understand that that level of cuddling can often take time to get to, it is vulnerable to admit that you're hurting and need to be held and I imagine most people wouldn't feel comfortable with doing that with someone they don't know well, and that's valid. But still, admitting you're lonely or just need to be held and that you have that unmet need is kinda the whole point of sites like these, so I can't be the only one... Right? 😅

Bestie cuddles are the best! I had never verbalized something so succinct and accurate in regards to cuddling.

I've only had polite cuddles w pros. Enthusiasts and one pro have been like bestie cuddles.

    Nice one. Cheers.

  • @Runawaycuddles Welcome to CC. As one of those sometimes labeled “ OG” on here it’s so nice to see someone else mention scheduling when you want to cuddle as a challenge to cuddling.

I guess I have bestie level cuddle friends here and I’m so thankful for that ! 😊

Such an interesting post. Thank you for this !

  • It would be nice to just easily achieve that level of comfort with someone right away, I know what you mean!

Lol unfortunately, the only real way to get there is through repeat interactions. (Not including situations where certain, ahem, substances may be involved.) 🤭🤫

  • @Minestrone101 Thank you! I'm glad you've experienced both kinds, that gives me hope 😅

    Cheers!

  • @OhioMike Glad to be here! It's been a good experience so far. I'm glad you have bestie level cuddles, I'm quite jealous 😂

  • @EarthlyAngel003 Right?? I have met people who just click with me like that but they tend to be more of an unexpected score than something you can easily engineer, so functionally it tends to be more about repetition and time 🤷🏼 (unless substances, yes 😂)

@Runawaycuddles Yes. I will say my best thing I've found since I'm an athlete is to have "warm up cuddles." outside of the first cuddle, when they arrive or when I get there I'm like "let's have a warm up cuddle." You can catch up and reacquaint yourselves and vent , all while embracing or laying down. otherwise I found in the past , we "waste" most of our allotted time eating ,talking, doing a game ...then we fit in the cuddle at the end. Err! wrong. yeah do a 15 or 30 min or 1 hour cuddle, then eat or do whatever, and leave the plates on the table and go right back to the cuddle for continuity.

  • Couldn’t agree more.

  • Welcome to the site @Runawaycuddles and you are in my beautiful world!!! 💗 What a fun title... "Polite cuddles vs Bestie" hahaha VERY TRUE!

As @OhioMike mentioned, TOTALLY agree about the scheduling part. It is a challenge to find people who have the same availability as you. As a woman it has been a bit more challenging to get past that initial "Meet, chat, check vibe, check honesty, check cuddle compatability, etc." but once you get through that with some people, you do get to a place where you can say "U up?" and it aligns more often than not. (Love that btw!) Sometimes there's enough bestie cuddles to fill the need, and sometimes... ahem... cough cough... the @OhioMike types only happen ONCE A QUARTER OR TWICE ANNUALLY!!! ahem....

But I think you'll find a lovely community of people who are looking for MOSTLY the same thing so it won't take long.

Another thing that might work in your favor, if its something you're interested in, is Community Cuddles. I love getting together for group cuddles once in a while, but the best part is then you get to meet a lot of people at once and you can start building your own cuddle connections list.

This is from one of my favorite cuddle facilitators Kassandra Brown.

Also, @JustJennn is amazing as a Pro and a human. She facilitates group cuddles as well and is PHE-NOM-ENOL
There's actually one happening this weekend with some local people and maybe it will help start filling up your cuddle cup with lots of people who live close (plus you get to have some of that initial talk about boundaries and stuff because of a welcome cirlce!)

Love your glasses btw and as always.... May the Cuddle Gods be EVER in your favor!! 😊
It is a CHILLY CO morning.... Sending HUGS!

@Runawaycuddles I absolutely resonate this, especially the part of not being a able to find a cuddle when you really need to be held, but rather when schedules align and you may not be needing to be held as much.

Obviously, you can’t text people you’ve never met online “hey let’s cuddle;” and even with other fellow enthusiasts you’ve cuddled before, it feels weird to hit them out of nowhere with a cuddle request. They themselves may not feel like cuddling at the time, and they may be taken a bit back by us not considering their needs. Or they may just find a “u up for a cuddle” text odd and May not want to cuddle with you anymore. Or if you explain that you’re going through a hard time and just need a cuddle, they may find you needy (and that’s often repulsive to other people). I reached out to a pro once and mentioned that my day wasn’t going the best, and I got blocked as a result, lol

  • @Runawaycuddles
Is this a poll? I much prefer bestie cuddles. Having gotten to know a Pro over time (repeat) it kind of just feels like "U up?" sometimes, which is really nice.

  • Some of my cuddle comfort snuggles are exactly like bestie cuddles 😊💖

    Yes, this resonates.

Honestly, there are people who are awesome at being open and vulnerable, even with strangers, over messages, etc, and people who never get there. I personally will not see someone multiple times on the hope they open up more. Cuddling itself is something many people wouldn’t do with someone they just met or don’t know very well! I would rather befriend or date people who want to cuddle with me and share openly with me right off the bat. I’ve met many such people over the years—dozens—so I know they are there.

Availability is a big blocker; most people I meet have almost no availability. It might be that I meet them during an unusual lull in their usually packed life. It might be that, the way they schedule their time, they usually can put a few hours on their calendar with me if we book it 10-14 days out, but not if they are having a busy month. It’s not necessarily school/work/kids, either. With one friend, it’s that they perform in a lot of community theater performances and go to a lot of events/parties. This friend even said they love when people cancel on them last-minute, because they get needed time by themselves to recharge. Which means, the best thing I could do for them would be to get on their schedule and then cancel! People who want to pursue connection with lots of different people, or don’t want to say “no” to anyone in their circle of friends and family, or overcommit themselves for the sake of their career, and don’t leave time for themselves, will make prioritization decisions based on things like: Will this person be mad at me if I don’t see them? Can I see multiple friends at once? But also, for some people, cuddling with me is a way to recharge. So if someone is “too tired to cuddle,” they probably either are not into cuddling with me or they are severely low on alone time. You start to see these patterns.

I think the key is being selective, and knowing that there are people who want an emotional connection, who have time, and a whole lot more who don’t.

  • @Runawaycuddles I really appreciate your candor and agree with you. Bestie cuddles are amazing! I've only had one cuddler that we developed this type of cuddle relationship. Sadly, she moved out of state and we lost contact.

  • omg bestie cuddles are amazing. I have formed that kind of bond with a few pros and enthusiasts on here that I have become really good friends with. It is a great feeling knowing they completely trust me and those cuddles are truly unmatched. It also does wonders for me since my self-esteem and confidence are always at zero. If only we were local 😮‍💨

  • I have a few besties from here now. One or two may be listed above somewhere. 😂💕💕💕

  • 🙄😲🤭

  • @sillysassy you know … you would think since we live off the same road it would be really easy to see each other more !

Of course that road is over 1200 plus miles long lol but still ! 😂

Bestie cuddles are, well, the best! I feel super lucky that all my experiences with cuddling so far have been that way. Super relaxing, instant connection like reuniting with a long lost friend. :)

  • @sillysassy Thank you!! I'm looking forward to meeting more and more locally cuddly peeps. 😋

For now I have to avoid group sessions because of being so immunocompromised with covid still being a creepy lil stalker, but once that's more settled joining in on a cuddle group meeting is #1 on my list of things to do! 😍

Many warm hugs to you and may the cuddle gods favor you always 🙏🏻☺️🫂

  • @frankparker9 Absolutely! In my experience there is a flow that happens when two people who fit that vibe meet that just doesn't happen with others even when the cuddle sessions go well, so thankfully it's pretty easy to know when you find that cuddle bestie fit. My natural inclination is to be more open and share that intimacy, but I do find that some people don't respond well to that so it's good to be flexible in the moment and respect that boundary if it arises. With the bestie cuddle types you never really have to push for that openness either internally or in conversation.

Bestie cuddles, as with many things in life, are like a fart, if you have to force it, it's probably sh*t 🤣

  • @CharlieBear Curse the menace that is geographical distance! I bet we would have had a blast cuddling! 🥲

  • @Runawaycuddles You definitely would. Charlie’s an absolutely sweetheart. ☺️

  • @EarthlyAngel003
    💛 Thank you 😌

    @Runawaycuddles
I visited Colorado a few months back for the meet & greet and had a blast! I can’t wait to return ☺️

  • Wow @Runawaycuddles, it's like you were in my head there for a minute. This is something I think about too. While I have met some great people through this site and enjoyed some great cuddles and had some really fun times, I haven't been able to achieve that "buddy-level" cuddling you refer to. I'd love to be able to connect with someone that deeply. Seems like there's always a little something that prevents that final barrier from getting cleared. Maybe it's me...

  • There's some tricks to get away from the awkwardness with strangers quickly.

    Here's a few:
Affiliative mimicry (taking turns copying each others motions)
Intentional vulnerability (cf. Brene Brown's Daring Greatly)
Feelings and needs assessment or check-in
    Ceremony
Making the space you meet in feel sacred
Deep authenticity (starting with solid eye contact, really find out about each other, cf. the 26 questions)
    Asking for help!

As far as scheduling, I used to live on a street where pretty much everyone had Christmas lights on their porch year round. If the lights were on, that meant that a dinner and a good conversation were open to anyone that lived on this street. It was wonderful. I think the cuddle version might only require a whatsapp group of locals you trust.

  • @mettamso That’s cute about the Christmas lights and dinner.

  • I really like the idea of bestie level cuddles. Like others have said, connection can be instant or it can be a rapport that's built over time and multiple conversations, but honestly, I'm only open to cuddling people who already feel like a friend prior to us meeting. Emotional connection is really, really important to me 🥰
