What is your ZEP (Zombie Escape Plan)?

What do you call a person without a Zombie Escape Plan? Lunch.

Hmmm... I'd find someone who's very good at survival and weaponry, and do whatever they say like a henchman. I'm a dedicated martial artist and a hard worker, but I sometimes lack a knack for common sense things, survival, and organization. I'd follow them all the way up to a point that there's some kind of moral, ethical, or communal breach that hurts individuals or the community.

Hopefully through that effort, we can can stock up on transportation, food and gas, weaponry , safe travels and shelter , map out a plan to survive or seek a safe haven, and create a community of trust within a barren wasteland of governmentless, nationless, and disorderly chaos. Or we might discover a cure or a way to counterattack the zombies. And you?

I would just join them. Knowing the community someone would probably say something that offends somebody and they would just throw you out to the zombies anyway.

  • More like a prophylactic in not taking vaccines…lol

  • If the zombies are like the ones in 28 days later were pretty much screwed and will die.

If they are like traditional zombies I think the biggest threat is going to be other survivors who are armed and will want to kill you for your supplies.

  • There are two different but related communities of people preparing for disruptions to civil society, “preppers” and “survivalists”. Preppers are more about having long shelf-life food, drinking water, alternative energy source (i.e. solar panels) and a few other provisions & equipment purchased ahead of time to help them get through a significant disruption of civil society whether that disruption is caused by a train derailment, hurricane, tornado, earth quake, industrial accident, ice storm, or civil unrest.

“Survivalists” do all of that but they also put a heavy emphasis on weaponry and home defenses in the event of a long lasting “Sh*t Hit the Fan” (SHTF) event such as a nuclear blast or an EMP attack. A person can really go down the rabbit hole if they follow the path of a survivalists but I think it is just common sense to be a “prepper” to some degree.

I carry 2 emergency bags in the trunk of my car with a blanket, reflective vest, multiple flashlights, about 3 days worth of food, a well stocked first aid kit (that I am trained how to use) and a bunch of other stuff. If you are ever in a serious automobile accident, I am the person you want to be first on the scene while we wait for paramedics.

  • This new VR game exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 has zombies breaking into your actual house.

It's Mixed Reality where it uses the headset's cameras and depth sensor to scan your environment and incorporates it into the game.

Unless it’s the slow shambling George Romero zombies, I’m not even gonna try sticking around for it 😅 Sprinting zombies…no thank you.

    @Mike403
    Omg that’s awesome

  • My plan is to just 😵 unfortunately 😂 Not because I don't have valuable skills or lack the grit to fight it out, but because the zombie apocalypse is REALLY not wheelchair accessible, and I can't make it on my own even without the shambling, brain hungry corpses 🤷🏼

Everyone else should wear chainmail over cured leather coats etc and ride bikes though, bikes are silent and decent on rough terrain but faster and less energy than running, and while chainmail doesn't protect from the crushing/bruising aspect of bites it's definitely not gonna let teeth get through and the leather will keep the dribbly mouth juices from getting into an injury even if the skin broke somehow

  • @Runawaycuddles - This is my Zombie apocalypse bike. 4.25” tires and enough attachment points to mount all types of equipment bags to silently move across any terrain.

  • @JohnR1972 Now that's what I'm talking about! Screw cars and motorcycles they're too loud, gas will be too limited and if they don't suck off road they guzzle gas too fast to be useful, bikes are where it's at 🤘🏻

  • Well, in the movies, you just gotta shoot zombies in the head and that stops them. Guess I better hope that I have enough ammo!!

  • @Jubal Crossbows are wayyyy more sustainable for ammo than guns. Plus gunshots are like a dinner bell to zombies in every zombie movie out there 😂

I'd pull out my cell phone and start playing the song "Zombie" by The Cranberries. And while the zombies were dancing to the song, I'd run away. 🤣🤣🤣

  • @JohnR1972 What kind of food do you carry? I used to, then stopped. I do have a bug out bag, but I have a smaller car now and am in the process of deciding what is essential to have for emergencies or daily needs if we have that. I used to pretty much have lots of stuff, but it won’t fit now.

  • @KingsportCuddle The lead singer passed away about 5 years ago :'( . That was my first concert around 97.

  • Aw, I'm sorry to hear that - I didn't know that. I bet that was awesome getting to hear them in live concert. 👍

  • 1) Don't get trapped by zombies.
    2) If trapped by zombies, implement 1).

  • Haha! @Runawaycuddles ! I love the way you started with 😵 and then busted out some mad survival idea skills!! 😎😎 Respect 👊

@Minestrone101 true about joining a group to share skills....even remembering to be realistic about the eventual downfall of said group 😜

@JohnR1972 Dang! I think the survival plan should be to come join you wherever you are! You and @Runawaycuddles 💪💪

My primary plan is to find a new place or secure current place against zombies and esp looters. I grew up with parents who prepped to some extent, so I have some things we would need to hunker down or flee. Weapons are def necessary too, as well as some basic knowledge of first aid and maybe natural medicines and how to hunt/gather and find water/shelter. Protective clothing is also necessary in this scenario!

My secondary plan is to head to Sam's Club. Since zombies can't enter without a membership card, and they've got enough supplies there (plus toilet paper) to last a thousand years!!!

  • If I have the perfect Setup and things were easier said then done ✅ head to a private island 🏝️ with my family and give everyone a Flame thrower 🔥 and begin our own little hidden eco system until things blow over and became safe again.

If not then…….. nuke everything infected, at least then everyone who isn’t will have a chance to re-establish civilization and humanity if clearing out the areas that are overtaken by zombies 🧟‍♀️

    ~ Happy Cuddling Everyone 🤗 ~

  • @RedFox16 Yep. I'm too much of an independent thinker to just follow orders. once the group goes south, I have a hot boiling pot of minestrone waiting to throw in their faces. lol

The downfall usually involves martial law, forced reproductive laws, or some serious inequality or leveraging the zombies for power. Once that hat drops, Im outtie. lol

  • Focus more on reducing zombies, rather than escaping them... improve public education.

  • @CuddleHugs01234 - I carry a 1 lb bag of sprouted pumpkin seeds and 2 pounds of Chomps beef jerky. They are calorie dense so they don’t take up a lot of space, they don’t require refrigeration or heating, and they are temperature stable with a fairly long shelf life but I still rotate them (and the water bottles I carry) out every couple of months so what is in my emergency bag is alway well within its “use by” date.

@RedFox16 - in 2018, the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse Attack delivered a report to Congress which estimated the U.S. could suffer up to a 90% casualty rate within 1 year of an EMP attack (mainly due to disruptions to the distribution of water, food, medicine, and energy for heat).

    http://www.empcommission.org/docs/A2473-EMP_Commission-7MB.pdf

Obviously this is a worst case scenario, but even if the actual casualty rate was “only” 9%, that would still be 30 times more deaths in 1 year than the total number of deaths in the United States attributed to COVID over the past 3 years.

I don’t lose any sleep over this because while it is possible, it is still an unlikely event. Part of my emergency preparations include having 2 way, handheld radios in faraday bags at my home and in my and my daughter’s vehicles, along with a communication plan (times, frequencies and codes) so we will be able to contact each other if the electric grid and cell towers are ever down and travel becomes difficult (that is also when my collection of bikes and ability to ride 100+ miles in a day becomes extremely valuable).

Most of my preparations are geared toward much more likely disasters in the Midwest such as ice storms, tornadoes, and train derailments. My emergency bags (aka “bug out bags”) I carry in my car are in keeping with the philosophy the best way to get through a natural or man made disaster is to not be there.

@Runawaycuddles Well, in an ideal post apocalyptic scenario (is that a contradiction of terms?) I'd have a couple neighbors with whom I could coordinate interlocking fields of fire into a chokepoint that the zombies were funneled into (maybe along the bridge that goes over the local lake).

But the type of zombies would matter. I mean, are we talking "World War Z" zombies or Woody Harrelson/Zombieland zombies? Or Michael Jackson "Thriller" zombies who are dancing to the sounds of Vincent Price?

  • @JohnR1972 is Chomps jerky superior? I feel like you have tried most or all of them.

  • @RedFox16 Absolutely! Gotta be realistic about things 🤷🏼 People like to tell themselves that disabled people 😵ing during disasters is survival of the fittest, and therefore not that bad of a loss, but that's just how society rationalizes deciding the value of human beings based on a capitalistic hierarchy that only benefits a few at the top. If anyone truly knows how to survive it's disabled people. 🤘🏻

@Jubal Yeahhhh that's not gonna work. Even if by some miracle you and the neighbors in question all survive long enough to set up the choke point while fighting off zombies AND are skilled enough to efficiently use it, the sheer amount of noise that would put out would bring every zombie for miles around directly to your position from every direction. Sure, the choke point might work for the front, but you'd get flanked immediately, and then you'd need way more than a few neighbors and a bridge to walk away from that. 😬 Even if you made your stand in the middle of a sufficiently long bridge in a sufficiently deep lake you'd only succeed in trapping yourselves there until you ran out of ammo, because again, with each shot you're drawing more zombies. Even highly trained soldiers would struggle to hold that position for even a few days (following the usual movie ratio of about 98% or so of the locals got turned) not to mention comparatively untrained civilians like Brenda and Phil from down the road, and you'd be fully cut off from help, supplies, transportation and shelter. 😅 It would look cool cinematically though 🤷🏼

@Runawaycuddles See, I would be a really good henchman for your operation. I'm not the best at strategizing , but I'm quick , know some combat arts, and hardworking. I might need to learn how to use a crossbow, but I'm a quick study. lol

@lonelytauros See, the community will need you bc you post great memes and probably have a great sense of humor. Memes are our cultural relics and recorder of culture these days. You can create memes from the infighting in the post s
    apocalyptic society.
