What's so special about 2016?

edited November 2023 in General

It was 2016, the CC forum was droppin like it's hot - totally lit fam. I was still a young man. There was magic in the air - apparently something that folks need in 2023 post-worldwide pandemic to stay hopeful. What was so special about 2016? Where were you?

I had just completed a cross country road trip, got into writing and resume writing, and then dropped out of my grad school program for teaching. I can remember like it was yesterday....

  • 2016 … last year I was married… joined CC 2017 I’m like grad 👩‍🎓 student status 😳lol

  • @OhioMike Annointed into CC. Good.

    Played until my fingers bled, was it summer of 2016?

    Something special I did that year was hike Silver Star Mountain. That was really cool and had some amazing views!

  • I was hired as a barista on February 2016. ^.^

  • @Tygus Pretty!

    @CuddleBarista1 - ☕ So the legend began.

  • @Minestrone101 Indeed! The Barista was born! :)

  • Here you go... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/nation/13-undeniably-good-things-that-happened-in-2016

    Basically, for many, it was the last year before the US started going full-tilt sideways...

  • It was the year that I discovered the secret to healthy poops

  • @quixotic_life Those are very good things in 2016 from the link. 😊

  • I ran my first marathon. I loved that hobby!

  • I got sober!

    Nobody sees a will to contention then coming in and cleaning it up as peacemaking/mediating. It’s starting stuff. Baiting then sickly sweet syrup.

    If some people don’t get why I’m saying this all the better. Others will. shaking my head

    And this in NO WAY is about the necromancer themselves.

    Forgive me if I don’t see this in the same light as:
    What makes you angry?
    Are people too sensitive?
    And many many more. You have to be looking a little closer and have a point of reference for this one but…it’s not heroic. It’s a set up.

    And I do hope this thread stays the right way up. But a lot of people are going to like this just about as much as the other more blatant ones.

    All I ask is that there be a little more forethought put into posts. Is this bringing back up a contentious topic in any way shape or form. Are we titling the post word for word after a contentious comment etc. It happens too often for me at least to see it as a mistake. Maybe it is. Then just a little more forethought? Please?

    @JoyfulHeart 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 that’s awesome.

  • @friendlyhugging Congrats! do you still run?

    @JoyfulHeart Amazing!

    @MissAdventurous Glad I’m not the only one who spotted it.

    Why not skip points of contention in the posts all together? There’s no need for it. If we’re spreading true positivity find things that aren’t that way. There are millions of ways to.

    Edit: posting this part here too.

  • 2016 I moved away from North Dakota... Best choice. Best choice. Wasn't my favorite year but I see the ways that decision has set me up for a life I now love.

    I think 2016 was one of the years of the Cubs won the World Series

    And then there’s this, according to the link that was posted above

  • 🤦🏽‍♀️ smh

    I was enjoying the beach and sunny skies with CC’s OG’s. 💯🤣🪐😎

  • @PrettyLuv I respect the hustle. Did you use a Deloughrian or metal device in a chair? Serious, some of those old threads are interesting.

    @lonelytauros You like your tigers. I hadn't followed baseball since Cal Ripken or Deon Sanders.

    @coregulate Glad you made it out. I've never been to that part of the US. Though I have some motivation to visit Montana or Wyoming.

  • @Minestrone101 neither, I think the Time Machine handled it nicely for me. Interesting indeed

    Can I add another one? 😋 I bought a Nissan 350z that summer. That was a fun car.

  • I made changes in my professional life and also visited Ghana for the first time. Highly recommend it for Sun and those interested in West Africa.

    @JoyfulHeart that's huge! happy for you!

    @Tygus amazing, recently learnt the hard way hiking doesn't mean a very LONG walk.

    @friendlyhugging I'm so impressed & inspired. I struggle to train, keep restarting the 'couch to 5km':(

  • @Tygus That's a sweet car. As a kid, I once thought a red 96 Toyota Celica was the ultimate dream car. lol. Maybe even a Honda Prelude or a Toyota MR2 or CRX.

  • [Deleted User]Tygus (deleted user)

    @4cuddles haha believe it or not, that was the hike that I learned that same lesson 😂 lots of steep elevation gains. I slept like a baby in the car on the way home.
    A trip to Ghana sounds amazing!

    @Minestrone101 It was a sweet car - only got pulled over once in it too lol. I was racing a hummer, I won a speeding ticket lol.
    Had a friend in highschool with a newer model prelude, he was very proud of that car until he blew up the engine 😂

  • @4cuddles , I've not run much since then. I need to start couch to 5k myself. If you want a jogging buddy, message me!

  • [Deleted User]Tygus (deleted user)

    @friendlyhugging , @4cuddles count me in! I've also installed a couch to 5k app on my phone. I've made it to couch 😂
