1 person. He’s a world away and it amazes me that we even connected because I never connect with anyone that far and when I say far, I mean like another continent lol - oceans apart, yet here we are. He’s the only person I actually feel comfortable speaking openly to…because of the distance. Which surprises me.
Honestly getting older and people moving out of NYC, myself including, most of my closest friends are scattered! I have one who just started at Dartmouth in NH, one started his family in TX, one's all the way out on Long Island...
I find sending videos and facetiming to be best to stay present in each others' lives.

@TxTom I count it as one on one like letter writing. As Greg Kinnear, Im sure you have many fans, so one-sided fan mail doesn't count.

Holy heck, I get myself into wayyy too many pen pal situations, and then never have time or mental bandwidth to keep up with them. I feel awful about it because there are such lovely people I've met, here. I haven't forgotten about any of you, I just can't deal with life! 🥴

As far as one-on-one pen pals, and they were all a long time ago, I had three: one in El Paso, TX, one in Germany, and one in Belarus.
So, since we're not counting the forum, my vote should be switched from 10+ to 2-5.
@TxTom That's cool. I haven't had a pen and paper pen pal in over 10 years. maybe closer to 20-25 years ago (waiting for the boomer comments lol).
@stormydaycuddle That's cool. I will say 10+ plus makes me envious! It means that little envelope near the bottom is always red. Y'all 10+ ers make me jealous!

By regular correspondence, do you mean people we talk to daily, every other day, weekly or people we occasionally hit up every now and then when we feel chit chatty? The number changes pretty steadily with time apart.
I interpreted it as someone you talk in-depth with every other day.

TBH I really wish I had more penpals..........Most of my friends are married with kids and have there own lives to worry about. So if anyone needs a penpal I'm here lmao.

Okay, so if we’re talking just once a week, I’d up mine to a solid 4.
I’ve talked with people I know for some time but we space it out like weeks apart sometimes and then go full in, on a crash week of just all updates where we fill each other in on everything going on in our lives to date so we’re up to speed. As long as they’re good and I’m good, we just drift apart again until the next crash course lol. I look at those pen-pals as comets. Happening at specific times of the year lol. I don’t know if I’d count them but I feel like I should since they’re as close to me as the solid 4. I don’t really talk to anyone on the regular if I don’t already have some solid foundation with them to start out with so I feel like they deserve a spot but I’ll stick with 4 based on the criteria.
Talking in general is like another outlet in a way too.
