What’s up with dating these days? Are people looking for they’re type, fantasy, or a great human being who may not be your type but everything u need in your person.
VERY important to know that this is not a dating site.
@roadrunner171 I can see from your profile that you are new. You are welcome here, but this is not a dating site and a dating thread is borderline inappropriate for this forum.
By all means stay, rewrite your profile and discover what this place can offer you, but if dating is the only thing on your mind you will have more luck elsewhere.
I love the responses here! ^_^
People are looking for all types of things, when dating. Here, people should be looking for platonic cuddle buddies.

I am surprised this thread still stands considering the usual stance of CC on thread topics like this.
☝️ my sentiments exactly
But okay, since we’re on the topic. Yeah…dates are not okay … here. Otherwise, do you I guess.
Likely no one flagged until today.
Heh, at my age, if I had to re-enter the dating scene, I'd be dead meat.
@Jubal Nothing wrong with your age.
This was flagged though I believe it was allowed to stay. Just keep things general or else it will be closed.
Keep in mind we only have two months left!
@SunsetSnuggles Oh, it's not my age in and of itself. But when I was younger, dating was something that happened because you met someone and hit it off - say someone at school, or church, grocery shopping, etc. Nowadays it appears that dating is almost exclusively an online activity, and I seriously doubt that I know the new "rules of the game" any longer.
+1 to @MrMarkAndrew 's comment!!!
@Jubal Ah, totally legit. Well, nothing stopping us from doing it old school, right? I mean, I still use my iPod to listen to music, every road trip. 😄
my approach to dating in 2023 was to just not do it at all. Has worked out very well for me!
Sounds like a dicey topic to post 🫣 it’s a platonic only site so dating isn’t allowed nor encouraged here…… just friendship !!! 😁😄😄
Although, from the horror stories of my friends and peers they say the dating pool is highly contaminated with low quality characters now days, so it is best to just take your time and let love/dating find it’s way to an individual naturally and without rushing it so it can be a more organic and unconditional type of love they’ll later attract.

Yes girl, preach! The best relationships, for me, have come when I was not looking for them. Also, I know I owe you a PM; I am super behind, I'm so sorry! You are a rock star! 🤗
Well, since the topic is totally legit...
I for one am curious as how others in the site approach dating these days... it definitely gets more challenging with age.
My approach in 2023 was to write down the last two digits of the year first. But every couple days I find myself writing x/y/21 on a check so that's clearly not working out!
Everyone tells me it's all online these days and much more open-minded - but sometimes the forms autocomplete to 1970 or some odd year, or show some unwieldy calendar that you have to scroll down...
How do y'all handle it?
@roadrunner171 while this isn’t a dating site, discussing dating isn’t a forbidden topic here. Dating today is complicated due to the new dynamics introduced by the dating apps, which have single handedly created the mess we have. You could not be finished having dinner with someone you have met when suddenly a new match pops up causing you to think - oh, maybe that is the one! The seemingly “infinite” choices essentially have created a revolving door hookup culture where we move from person to person never fully getting to know anyone and never feeling any reason to commit to anyone. There are ways to navigate the dating market today with success. Speaking only for myself, there are a few actions and some resources I found very helpful, though ymmv.
1) Getting off the dating apps. Heck, getting off any “online” dating platform. 2) Finding activities I enjoy and started attending in person events where I get to meet people and build social skills. 3) Building a strong community of male friends. Yes, male friends. Not because I date men, but having this has helped me grow personally and stay on task emotionally. 4) Using cuddle sessions with pros to address my underlying neediness for human touch, allowing me to show up in relationships in a secure manner not reliant on a dating partner to always provide that for me. Specifically for me I tended to be very clingy, that really screwed up relationships. 5) Having regular scheduled sessions with a talk therapist
Logan Ury has several great videos and a great book with pragmatic approaches https://www.loganury.com/
Psychologist Sadia Khan has some great videos online https://www.sadiapsychology.com
Stan Tatkin has several great books and audiobooks Wired for Love, Your Brain on Love, Wired for Dating, and others. All of them pretty much have similar content based on his simplified application of attachment theory, just presented in different ways.
Is carbon dating still done today? Is it done any differently than say... 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years ago? 🤔
Would I be dating myself by mentioning which cartoons I watched as a child and how I may not like certain ones in today's age? 😂
Interesting thread. I actually thought OP was simply venting rather than speaking of this site specifically. If not, hope they are now clearer.
As someone who uses online apps can totally appreciate the need to vent. Recommend regular breaks when using apps, to manage your mental health. Definitely agree with with the old fashioned way. If one can prioritise things they enjoy, their hobbies. Thats the ideal sceanario to meet someone.
I approach dating like I do cuddling : put my best foot forward, give myself opportunities, and avoid toxic people.
Dating from ages 19-21 was trash. I have a partner now, but if ever have to go back to the streets, I'm just gonna stay single until my frontal lobe develops. I'll look back at some of my old prospects like...wtf. Why was I crying over a boy who doesn't even remember the last time he washed his sheets and was too high to even remember my name most of the time?? shivers
I've never even been on a date. Likely my own fault really I rarely ever leave the house lol but it doesn't really help with my self-esteem
@avebae so true
@Minestrone101 Its also kinda like playing chess. gotta make the right movesl
I don't get the comments in here. He's didn't say anything about dating on this site, but just as a whole..
Cuddle cops need to put their guns down
Shhhh @AnthonyM757 its because of the conditioning once experienced where such threads would be pounced on rather quickly and those responding would be swiftly reprimanded for doing so…a.k.a it’s not their fault, believe me lol.
They’re just coming out of the woodwork now, that’s all. Haha
Dating sucks. The end. 🫤
Not sure I necessarily date. I just kinda hang out and pretty much do the same things with my friends, just some of them I make out with and some of them I don't. Otherwise it all pretty much looks the same from the outside in .
@PrettyLuv Inclined to agree.
