Anyone feel nostalgic around this time of the year?

I imagine others feel this way too this time of year. Sometimes I'll take a break from work etc and stop to think about the people I met on this site over the years. I do still keep in touch with maybe 2 or 3 people but the rest are gone. I do sometimes wonder if they're doing ok. If they moved. Or finally found someone. I am glad that we shared some moments together. cuddling is fun, but the memories from those conversations and shared thoughts was the best part.

  • I've only been here since April of last year, but I am already starting to see people come and go in waves, and those who seem beloved regulars for awhile, can soon disappear. It is a bit sad, to lose touch.

In any case, I've certainly spent much longer periods of time on other platforms or with certain groups of people, and had online friends come and go, over the years.

Sometimes they never return, and I honestly wonder if some passed away. Others drifted or fell into a passionate relationship or we had a falling out, and you know they're out there somewhere, but unlikely to return. Then some come back to you...months, years, or even many years later. I still randomly hear from a guy I met in my first chat room, twenty years ago, when I was 16. It's precious.

People can delete themselves from our lives so easily on the internet, and perhaps you were incredibly close but never even knew their name. It's a peculiar and beautiful thing, fraught with dangers and delight. I adore my online friends; those who have long-since vanished, and those still in my life. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Being a platonic site its to be expected, see people come and go, I guess. Easy to be intimate, easy to leave, easier for some to leave and forget than others I guess. It must take some sort of discipline and training to be physically intimate maybe share thoughts, feelings, experiences with each other, and then leave without ever looking back.

"But pleasures are like poppies spread,
You seize the flower, its bloom is shed;<
Or like the snow falls in the river,
A moment whiteโ€”then melts for ever;"
    -Robert Burns

Maybe the poet had a different meaning, idk, my Grandfather told me this poem repeatedly when I was very young, that among many poems he liked to recite. Maybe he was trying to prepare me for the loss of friends, loved ones, people special in my life.
