It doesn't matter to me what the idea is if it doesn't actually accomplish any good ;-)
@ubergigglefritz Agreed, all shutting it down did was move the exploitation elsewhere. Although many sex workers are in the business voluntarily, it is a physically and emotionally exhausting/abusive role to take in society unless you are a high-end provider who only moonlights. The problem with Backpage is it gives power to any woman with a phone to become a prostitute. Including the underage. You will find many ladies there turning to drugs etc to numb the stress so ultimately the only reason they continue is to support a habit. There was also the fact that literally anyone could post there which made it even less secure. Review boards are safer for hobbyists AND sex workers, but they are not the places that the Backpage crowd will flock to because there is usually a high fee or condition in order for them to be allowed to post.
Instead they come to places like CC where they know they will stand out (and I laugh each time they get banned because they obviously have too much faith in finding work here).
But if it's legalized then much of the service can be regulated, and people can be in a much safer environment. I think the legal brothels in NV are pretty nice. Obviously it wouldn't help everyone, but would provide a safe outlet for lots of clients and workers instead of everyone having to tiptoe around because it's illegal. All the good and bad intermingling in the same spaces. Makes it all scarier for everyone... :-P Oh, and more annoying for those of us not even participating ;-)
If we want to keep cuddle comfort going the truth is it's up to us to fight for it. Clients please report anyone offering extras and pros please report anyone asking for them. I promise you that I do my best to report if I come across anything suspicious. I don't care if that gets me less clients because the clients I want to see would respect that in me and then know that they can trust that they will be in a safe space with me.
Everyone has to work together to keep the people looking for and offering sex out of this site.
Actually I noticed two weird profiles withing 2 minutes just now. One I reported because inappropriate and the other one I'll give the benefit of doubt. But uhm to cry about a failed relationship and painting the picture of being a victim just to get cuddles....that profile just gives me strange vibes...and seemed like straight from Craigslist
@Spongymarble - I agree with you. The photo was an open shirt photo showing off bare pecs and was very sexualized. It definitely looked like what you'd expect to see on Craigslist or Back Page. I don't give that any doubt at all and would never meet anyone who posted a photo like that.
These types of photos in my opinion make CC look bad. I think bare chest photos shouldn't be allowed at all, since by the terms of the CSA, men are required to have on a t-shirt or a tank top during a cuddle. Why, then, should what is not allowed during a cuddle be allowed on a profile page? It sends the wrong message.
@BlueIris - you could add that to the thread for suggestions to improve the website "Profile photos should not be allowed to show the member wearing any outfit that would not be allowed during a cuddle".
@BlueIris Funny but just as I read your response I saw the same profile again. New profile, new picture in a suit this time but same text to please help him cough cough same weird vibes.
@Spongymarble - You should report both profiles.
I've had a few run-ins already with guys who wanted to date or wanted something more. They usually ask you to text them/ talk to them off-site. That is a pattern I have noticed with them.
