The initial post, while not intended to be political, could have had certain opinionated views omitted to prevent it from being viewed as political.
I mean, I'm not a political person, and generally hate politics, but I rolled my eyes when I saw it.
I rolled my eyes when I saw it.
@peacefulcuddler What is “it” that was so political in her original post when she specifically said the topic was non-political?
“Simply put, Blue Zones are areas across the globe in which people live longer, and better than average, consistently reaching age 100.
Blue Zones.
Not speaking on Gang affiliations nor politics.
100 year clubs aka Blue Zones
Cheese 🧀 n crackers 🍘 and maybe some tea 🫖 while ya read 😉
@SunshineHug 😂😂😂 Wait a minute. What kind of crackers do you have?
@BoomerSpooner I got all the good crackers
Ritz Keebler Organic chia seeded ect Too many Trader Joe’s varieties And my homemade avocado 🥑 crackers
Carbs n snacks are my zombie 🧟 apocalypse, survival food. May the crackers forever be in your favor. 😂
RITZ? Oh man those are the crackers that people who do not share every last one of my infallible political beliefs eat! You monster! 🤣🤣🤣
@natickben 😃😂
@BoomerSpooner She may very well have not intended it to be political, or put "this is not political" to try and nullify the politically slanted statement. If you didn't see anything that could be construed as political in the post then I guess it worked.
Interesting article this week making the rounds, is that beginning in 2024 America has never had so many people turn 65.
I hadn't heard the term blue zone but I think yeah, the US will probably get more blue zones.
There's no disagreeing in 2024. Just happiness.
@peacefulcuddler It not a political post. Believe I’ve clarified that many times over.
Guess it got people talking more about politics than blue zones and loneliness. 🤷♀️ why
@SunshineHug but it's not about what you posted , it's about what other people think about what you posted. Cus , you know , they're right and you're wrong, even when you're not .
@SunshineHug In the immortal words of Whitney Houston ... 🤔
"It's not right, but it's okay, I'm gonna make it anyway.".
Scientists are still trying to decipher the hidden message.
To me it’s not really a question of getting more blue zones. Individuals can choose to do the things listed in the article, which I attached, or not choose to. I’ve got the household chores down, but just eating meat five times a month for me isn’t going to work.
The need for cuddles 🥰 and less implied out of context inference is strong 💪 in the stars ✨ today.
What assists you in living longer? Certainly not politics and women’s rights. Forum fluff around and find out.
@natickben 🤣😹
@SunshineHug I REALLY appreciate the IDEA of what you are trying to present. THANK YOU FOR BEING BRAVE ENOUGH TO SHARE!!!
I shall spoil the boring POLITICALLY MINDED DISCUSSION
I suppose since it is a Presidential Election YEAR some people are a bit hyperaware of the political inference of things, but I certainly did not get that impression once you clarified what you are trying to discuss.
I suppose it is POSSIBLE that the title saying "Blue Zones" might make a newbie think that you were about to discuss political issues like "Blue or Red States" but anyone who knows Cuddle Comfort and the policies the Moderators enforce.... POLITICAL posts wouldn't last long.
Maybe the title of a study that detailed "what people do to live longer" being called a "Blue Zone" isn't as commonly known terminology as something like a BLUE STATE?
@SunshineHug I suppose if you want to redirect all of the negative implications of the title, you could ask one of our fabulous Moderators to change it.... "Will the US get more Blue Zones pockets of Centenarians?" But really.... What's the fun in that??? 😂😁🤣
MAYBE..... but I digress....
As to your thought provoking post relating to the inclusion of cuddles as a life altering aspect....
An interesting article came out in the business insider recently featuring San Mateo and touching on the subject of loneliness being an epidemic.
I thought the article was reveletory in the emphasis of human connections playing a bigger role than previously emphasized in our culture. Not JUST cuddling, but creating more connections instead of isolation. In fact, I think there was a really cool thread about one of the detriments of technology.... ESPECIALLY after a pandemic.... maybe it was @JohnR1972 who mentioned the study that shows because of the internet etc. we are more "connected" than we have ever been but we are also far more lonely than ever before.
From the NBC News article about the Resolution
“Thinking of your relationships as important to your health, as you do physical activity, diet and sleep is really the key messaging here,” he said.
California is making a RESOLUTION that will hopefully create more mindfulness in this regard. I think that is fabulous!!! Not that they are trying to make govt. mandates, but for example when they design a new park... they might think about how to help create socialization more easily..... maybe like the tables where you can play REAL chess next to or across from a REAL person!!
It feels very similar to the times when there was a big push by our country to "End Littering" The cities designed things differently henceforth. WE all now expect there to be trash cans in public spaces and don't really give it a second thought. Just like the idea of recycling is becoming more commonplace... now we also see recyling bins next to the trash bins. When you are old like me, you remember a time when people didn't think it was a big deal to throw trash out their car window.
I know that trash isn't the same as cuddling, but if there is a PUSH from our country that advocates healthy relationships as much as they do working out, the food pyramid, or a healthy night's sleep, I think we might be on to something.
I feel like everyone on this thread might need a big hug so I'll send a few out into the cuddleverse JUST IN CASE!!! 🌈🦋🌟🌞😊🌺🌼💗✨🔆
@SunshineHug 💗💗💗
I’m here for the human nature side of things.
I think there is beauty in being on the cutting edge of something so non-traditional as cuddling, but it is also the place where people are still hesitant.
I wish it was possible to think that OUR GENERATION would see cuddling as more mainstream and accepted as a practice of healing etc.... but I have to agree I think its unlikely to happen soon. But maybe for the next generation!! Think of a time when massage therapy was not allowed as an insurance type deduction. But now it is more easily. Same with acupuncture. I agree with @BoomerSpooner though.... Big Insurance companies are not always about the preventative measures. It is such a frustrating aspect that you can hardly get counseling or therapy to be paid for in order to stimulate personal growth. NADA unless you have an absolute diagnosis. Sheesh indeed!
@TR23 I appreciate your thoughtful and kind responses. Welcome to the site!! 😊
Many years ago I read an intriguing article discussing the Des Moines area revitalization plan and why it was successful. It focused on pairing unrelated projects together when pursuing funding. I don’t recall specifics, but think ice skating rink with the symphony, or sculpture park and open air auditorium riverside for events. The concept was getting people invested in the success of multiple projects beyond their set interest. The old saying a rising tide lifts all ships. Now the downtown and East Village areas are thriving places to live, eat, have a shop, or attend an event. I don’t live near there.
I love the idea of unrelated pairing... So smart!
You also said...
The bigger question is how does one effectively identify, target, and engage people still feeling very isolated and lonely following the pandemic? I’m part of that demographic due to health constraints and disability, and I don’t have a great answer to this question.
I think there is a GLARING thing about you that I want to point out.... YOU are doing something pro-active in trying to alleviate some of your pain. Joining a site like CC will hopefully help you on your way to deal with some of those issues that come with health constraints and disability. Kudos to you and your outside the box thinking and for taking steps toward a better you!! And as always.... "May the Cuddle Gods be EVER in your favor!!" 😊😊😊
Thank you @sillysassy I quickly put together a forum post to get those thinking about combating loneliness, recent articles and the Blue Zone links as it all ties together.
It’s refreshing pace from the anti pro sentiment & female bashing sentiment on here for both pros and enthusiasts’. 🤗🥰
Albeit still many could not respond to the post topics and side line it with ??
I love 💕 your detailed response and ability to get those thinking and discussing an all encompassing healthier choice and community spirit and moves to better outcomes in prevention vs treating in the medical field and/or not encompassing it into hsa because there is still soooo much stigma.
Case in point the response derails. 😂 Yes they need more human IRL connection and it shows.
Still apparent human connection IRL is a key factor piece to the puzzle 🧩 of a better longevity.
I’m reporting for cuddle duty shortly but it’s not paid since it’s my fam. Best times are reading and connecting with 🥰 platonic loving intimacy.
If the Grinch’s heart can grow with kindness, community connection and caring friendships ….,Maybe one ☝️ hug at a time can ripple into the cobwebs and shake lose the stigma of intimacy healing ❤️🩹.
I’ve done some research into this very important topic and I’ve come up with this conclusion. Blue zones are better than…
It so lovely to see those thinking about health and longevity.
Crazy for feeling so Blue ? Patsy Cline @lonelytauros sometimes the memes need clarifying.
I hope to God I don't live to 100.
Thanks for the positive comments, @sillysassy. Have a nice weekend.
@SunshineHug yes you’re right! Here’s my clarification
@Minestrone101 thanks for tour feedback. I interesting curves you have on it.
Congratulations on your job and I’m not sure about all the other references that were in the thread. But have a great day. 🤗
@Mr_Cuddle_Bear right. I can only imagine how much worse my right knee is gonna feel if it’s going to be raining or snowing when I’m at age 100.
I don’t think in any of the materials and studies on the blue zones really target that one specific area. Haha 😂
