Stolen credit card info - a brief story

Shortly after work I got an unexpected call from the fraud department of my credit card. My card information was stolen and used.

Fraud agent: did you purchase an Amtrak ticket in Nashville today?

Me: No, sir, I was badged in and on camera for my twelve hour shift at work in another state.

Fraud agent: How about this charge for $56 at Chipotle?

Me: Also not my purchase.

Fraud agent: $1000 purchase at Best Buy?

Me: Absolutely not 😳

Fraud agent: What about this charge to Cuddle Comfort?

Me: That one is valid, I paid that.

Fraud agent: Wait, what is that exactly? ( audible curiosity and bewilderment )

Me: I'ts an online space for people interested in giving and receiving platonic touch to connect and possibly cuddle offsite. You should totally check it out!

Fraud agent: That's wild! I've heard of professional cuddling. I'm so intrigued!

The whole vibe of the conversation shifted and I just hope the person who helped me on that call chooses to check the site out and just chooses to remain curious in life πŸ’–

I am quick to share how life changing this platform has truly been for me and how many amazing people I've connected with as a result of this community. How ever you heard of this site, whatever conversation or curiosity may have brought you here, I'm glad you're here!

  • Keep that credit card! Sounds like their fraud department is on top of things.

I hope it all gets resolved for you.

  • @TxTom Thanks! Should be golden 🀞

  • Yeek!! I'm so sorry you experienced fraud! It's hilarious that they chose to splurge at Chipotle. πŸ˜„ I guess a fancy restaurant may have required ID. (I was always taught to write "Ask for ID" on the backs of credit cards.) Hope they take care of it all for you quickly!

Love that the person was open to learning about the site! Maybe they'll see this thread, one day. 😁

  • @Nature_Lover_ I am sorry that you’re credit card πŸ’³ information was stolen and used! Thankful that you were able to share platonic cuddling information with the person on the phone, encourage them to check it out and maybe they will join! Awesome πŸ˜ŽπŸ€©πŸŽ‰

  • Ohh the credit card fraud is awful!😬

As I have been there before many years ago, it sucks indeed.πŸ˜”

However, I liked how customer service genuinely showed interest in CC and in professional cuddling in general. That's awesome!πŸ˜πŸ‘

  • Credit card fraud has occurred three times in traveling for work for over 25 years. Two they slammed the gas pumps in SoCal. That was was back in 2010 and 2012 and once in Texas in 2017. My bank caught it quickly the first time because they asked about charges in Tijuana for a large screen tv and I said the only charge I had there was a penicillin shot. Just kidding but obvious charges since I was in Ventura that day. The other time they had a couple of small charges then a large one in San Diego and my bank’s fraud department sent a message to that Walmart to ask for ID so they were arrested.

The one in Texas was for $309 in gas purchases. In the course of 20 minutes. That was a weird one.

The charges against my card were all dropped but the hassle comes when you are on the road is they close the account. So my big advice to everyone is always have a back up card you can use while traveling.

  • @SunsetSnuggles and @SuperManCuddles I appreciate y'all. Honesty not worried about the fraud as it seems it will be taken care of. Chipotle was funny and just getting to introduce someone to the concept of connecting to cuddle was kinda cool. πŸ’–

  • @Katota Thanks and sorry I just noticed your comment above. Hoping your run in with fraud wasn't too terrible!

  • @Nature_Lover_ Hey there, I appreciate that it wasn't too bad in the end.😁
I was staying overnight at a Marriott hotel in Alpharetta (again many years ago), and someone came into my room (while I was sleeping) and stole my entire purse.😡

It had my keys, my wallet so glad that my cellphone wasn't in there. I was able to call and cancel/freeze ALL of my cards and bank accounts. I called the police and reported the theft, of course nothing was done about it. The cop did give me the investigators' name and number though. 😏
I had a good friend drive me home and I had to get my DL and SSI card replaced (I no longer carry my SSI card in my wallet anymore after thatπŸ€šπŸ˜‘). Yeah it was a nightmare for me then, having to get new cards, new account numbers and such. I did receive a charge on my credit card bill from a gas station in Tennessee (clearly not from meπŸ™„) but I informed them of what happened and provided the police info to my credit card company so I wasn't charged for it. That was the only purchase, apparently I was able to cut off everything in time.πŸ˜πŸ‘

  • @Katota What an absolute nightmare! The scariest part is that they entered your hotel room while sleeping! So grateful you navigated through that and things weren't any worse than they turned out to be!

  • This interaction is so rich! I love it. Thanks for sharing and always stay true when the lemons come rolling through πŸ’—πŸ™πŸΌ
