  • Ghosting is a big thing to deal with a lot too

  • @girlblue50 Narcissism, instant gratification, abandonment of spirituality.

"Me! Me! Me! Now! Now! Now!"

    That's why.

  • Yeah I guess people are selfish because they always want something in return!!
No one wants to make new friends and communicate anymore,, what has this world come too??

Yeah it all went downhill in 2002 after the song cry me a river came out

  • There are people out there that will communicate and willing to make new friends but sometimes they are hard to find.
I wish you the best and many warm cuddles 🫂

  • It's funny to read this.

It happens on this site too. Send messages to say hi or just have a conversation, and get ignored. It amazes me every time, but it shouldn't.

  • I am primarily on here for friends . If it turns into cuddling then great . Then there is the added bonus of cuddling a friend , not a stranger, which is so much better .

We are all individuals. Our politicians, our media, our notable people, our company directors they all tell us this. It begun fifty years ago, this conversation from a friendly version of capitalism based on steady growth with an eye on social affairs to the ravenous laissez-faire world of collateralised debt obligations. Our society has changed from a nuclear family model to a group of high spending individuals where we are encouraged to think about nothing but our own self-interest and to have everything right now for own pleasure, regardless of the consequences for other people and our planet. In this world, if something is of no use to us, we discard it, unused into the landfill of offcuts this form of society produces in record unsustainable numbers. Including people. There is no society now, we are all individuals. And we treat each other accordingly.

Or they might be away from their device, or suffer anxiety. Could be a host of other reasons. 🤔

You never know the situation of anyone you are dealing with. That person who is rude to you might have just been laid off, or have a sick relative at home, or be stressed about bills, etc. - 99% of the time, their behavior has nothing to do with you. Even that enthusiast who ghosted you might have 100 messages in their inbox and never even saw yours. You just don't know.

  • @WriterGF it's true! I once asked a question about an item listed on a classifieds site, only to get a response full of insults and written abuse. I tamped down the nasty remarks in my mind and simply replied 'That wasn't kind.' You know what? He replied with an apology and explained the trials he was going through right then. I offered to help but even though he declined, we parted as friendly people, experiencing a little more understanding in our lives. Not with anger and resentment.

It doesn't excuse bad behavior but you never know what someone else is going through. Please be kind.

Always worth waiting, counting, seeing it form the other persons point of view, wondering if there is something you don't know.

I dream of the day when the people who sow resentment between us are shunned as much as those who seek to harm others; A day when the vast majority get their joy in life from the strength of their relationships with those around them; A day when people actually feel guilty about starting out with a negative feeling towards someone they don't know; A day when advertising is much less effective because people are more concerned with making things for each other, acts of kindness towards each other than acquiring things. Sounds whimsical, but one thing that we have lost that many poor close knit communities still have is each other.

  • I don’t really understand the context of the post, I’d you are talking about CC or society in general ?

People on the internet are extremely flaky or worse, and affects how people interact in the internet.

In person and out and about, it’s really hard to make friends as An adult that’s not in school unless you are part of some ‘tribe’ ie maybe it’s some hiking group or religious group or via work or etc

The stranger you’re standing next to in line is probably lonely and wants someone to talk to. Or they may be extremely annoyed if you try to talk to them

@sunnysideup Yes, you can make friends at work, but often they disappear when you're not in that job anymore.

  • @WriterGF yes, most people want friends of convenience.

Friends for life are very hard to come by for anyone, I think

  • I just saw this at the restaurant I’m ordering food at :

Most people want to meet people like this but very little are willing to put in the effort

  • I recommend Meetup.com to find like-minded friends who share similar interests. doesn't have to be anything deep, some meetups or only about going out for dinner or wine tasting. though those who are only looking for sex partners are EVERYWHERE, no matter what the group is about. maybe that's why the Chess Group in my area is 90% men.

Study social psychology for all the answers to your question. Hope you find some kind, nonjudgmental communicators. There are some here, as there are in every sphere.
This is another good source on why things are the way they are now, at least the parts on social media and how it’s changed society:

  • most of people lack of self-esteem and too
    arrogant

  • @sunnysideup Love the pic you posted. 💕

  • I listen to Don Miguel Ruiz:

    Never take it personally.

  • @HappyHugsCo Haven't heard about the 4 agreements in a minute. Thanks for the reference!

  • I would respond with some pertinent advice but I am too busy ghosting those I initiated a conversation with.

  • That's acceptable because we aren't supposed to take it personal.

  • Thanks for all the replies back everyone!!

  • I’m still having a hard time tho!!

  • This thread is hilarious. I read the original post and then clicked to see who this person is, only to find that she has blocked me. And I don’t even know who she is. 😂

So who exactly is being rude and judgmental?

    Settle down, Spoonie.

    @SpooniesBack

Blocking someone is not rude. There are a 1000 legit, non-judgmental reasons for doing so.

It isn’t an attack on you or your character, (unlike your rhetorical question about the OP).
