May 2024 CC User Statistics (US Edition)

Like everyone else, my free time is limited so I did not collect and analyze everything I possibly could have. Therefore, I want to acknowledge the following before sharing results in my next post…

Delimitations (intentional boundaries to narrow the scope of research):
1) The data I collected only includes 20 major cities in the United States.
2) I only collected data from accounts that have been active within the past 30 days (as of May 28, 2024). I chose this period because many steaming services and social media websites report “monthly users.”

Limitations (weaknesses in the data collection / analysis):
1) I did not have visibility to accounts that have been banned, muted, or who may have blocked me.
2) Some accounts may have been double counted because each account can list up to 2 locations.
3) Searches by gender were problematic as there are 22 genders from which to choose and every member can choose up to 5 genders in their profile which means there are 35,442 possible combinations of gender (yes, that is a real calculation).

To simplify the data collection, I only used 3 categories. The first category includes all profiles which include either “Man” or “Cis Man”. The second category includes all profiles which include either “Woman” or “Cis Woman”. The 3rd category, which I simply called “Other”, includes all profiles which do not include any of the terms in the first 2 categories. This was not meant as any disrespect, it was just a necessity to simplify data collection and analysis. I have already completed one dissertation and I did not want to turn this project into a second one.

Methodology:
As of 2023, the 22 largest cities in the United States are home to 35,412,450 people. I removed the cities of Dallas and San Jose from that list because they are within 50 miles of Fort Worth and San Francisco which are also on the list of the 22 largest cities. I then looked up the population of people who live within 50 miles of each of the remaining 20 cities. The combined population is 118,800,736 which is 34.9% of the total population of the United States. I then looked up data on CC members who live within 50 miles of those 20 cities and will share what I found in my next post.

  • Over 118 million people (nearly 35% of the U.S. population) live within 50 miles of one of the following cities… New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Jacksonville, Austin, Fort Worth, Columbus, Charlotte, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Oklahoma City, Nashville, and Washington DC.

There are a total of 14,183 CC members who live within 50 miles of one of those cities so that works out to 0.0119% of the population is on CC and has been active within the past 30 days. Or, stated another way, one out of every 8,403 people who live within 50 miles of one of these cities is a monthly user of CC. That ratio means there were approximately 8 active CC users out of the 65,000 people who attended the Superbowl this year. It woud also suggest there are about 40,638 monthly users of CC in the United States assuming the ratios of people living within 50 miles of the big cities hold for the rest of the country (that is a big assumption but I do not have data yet on smaller, more rural areas).

So now lets get into the interesting stuff…
Across the 20 cities, there are 11,421 men who are enthusiasts compared to 694 women who are enthusiasts so among enthusiasts, men outnumber women 16 to 1. The worst city for men is San Antonio where men out number women 47 to 1. The best city for men is Fort Worth where they only out number women 6 to 1.

There are also 1,902 Pro women compared to 79 Pro men, so among Pros, women outnumber men 24 to 1.

More to come but I am going to bed for tonight.

  • Brilliant!! Thank you!

  • @JohnR1972 this is fantastic! Thanks for sharing…. 👏. Very interesting 🧐

I have to say, I was surprised Boston isn’t in that top 20 list of cities…. 🏙️

  • @SlothHugs - Thank you. Boston is in the top 30 but it didn’t make the top 20 list as of 2023. A lot of big cities, especially in the Northeast, lost population from 2020-2022 because of… reasons.

  • Wow. 16 to 1 male enthusiasts to female. That says a lot.

  • Nice job. Impact on this Michigander? None.

  • @JohnR1972
Obviously this is your wheelhouse so I'm not surprised, but I love all the comparisons and how you've laid this out! Thank you for your time and efforts. 😊

  • Ooo, this is super fascinating! What's the best and worst cities numbers-wise for women enthusiasts? 🤔 I'm curious which city has the best ratio.

Thanks @JohnR1972, this information might lend more context to the personal experience of guys on here.

  • @LionsFan Yeah the impact is minimal. It’s like a study that comes back saying 99% of what we breathe is air. Experience is the best study of all.

But nice compilation of stats @JohnR1972. It does give a broad general idea of the numbers for the uninitiated. However, I would add that the size of the city definitely has its limitations. For example, a few of the cities listed in your study—Indianapolis, Columbus, and Charlotte have an average to underwhelming number of active cuddlers in those areas as opposed to like Portland, OR which has a thriving cuddle scene. I guess it would be ideal to have the top 20 cities of cuddlers then compile the ratios. But I think we all know that little would be different as far as the ratios so I suppose I am splitting hairs at this point.

  • @CuddleDuncan @CuddleHugs01234 and @LionsFan - Thank you!

@SunsetSnuggles - You are welcome, it was fun and I have more planned but I thought I would go ahead with my first installment last night.

@Runawaycuddles - I am glad you enjoyed it. Out of the first 20 cities, I would assume the best city for men (Fort Worth with a 6 to 1 ratio) would be worst for women enthusiasts and the worst for men (Austin with a 47 to 1 ratio) would be best for women enthusiasts. I’m trying to figure out the best way of sharing an Excel file for anyone who wants a city by city breakdown.

@BrianOcean - I am really good at figuring out how to collect and analyze data but not so good at following General Accounting Practices. I would probably be great at forensic accounting but trust me, you don’t want me doing your taxes, I don’t even do my own taxes, that is what CPAs are for 😂

  • Well this was a lovely change in forum reads this morning thank you for sharing 🧡🧡

  • Well, this certainly helps to explain the lack of cuddle partners near me.

  • What it doesn’t explain are the number of bear enthusiasts who receive far more cuddles than male enthusiasts. At least if we are to believe forum threads.

  • This is so interesting! And wow, how did you compile all of this information! I am impressed 🤩

  • Very interesting, and thank you!

  • @JohnR1972
I am impressed with your tenacious use of spare time . I spend my after work hours in my recliner looking out my window and scrolling through Tik Tok and You Tube.

  • I'm in San Antonio and I really appreciate the work you did collecting this information along with sharing it with us. It definitely helps provide some context.

  • Tells a conspiring tale. There is a lot that can be gathered from this information that tells a story of behavior, desire and need.
